I've been contemplating switching career prospects because clearly my so-called "prestigious" college degree served me no purpose. I completed a dual law degree (only 6 students admitted each year) but I can't seem to find a job.

Hence, I'm looking at other options for now. I'm planning on going to graduate school at some point but I don't want to make the same mistake I did before. I don't want to pursue a program that will turn out to be a "dead end".

I'm not planning on becoming a lawyer regardless of what happens.

Should I pursue continue pursuing law?

Thank you!

Try posting this in Personal Readings. This Forum is very slow, and chart threads should be posted there.

Have you considered working for yourself as a lawyer?

Thanks Randall.

Well, maybe in the remote future. I'm planning on sitting the NY Bar exam however I still need to gain professional experience first. I completed my degree with honors but finding an internship/training program has been quite the hassle.

You could gain experience by working some pro bono cases.

That's what I'm going to do. I'm going to build my reputation that way.

It's actually a good idea. I've been looking into it since you mentionned it. It definitely helps building some kind of network and gaining on hand experience.

I however remain torn regarding the branch of law I'd like specialize in. Health law sounds interesting but I'm also interested in commercial law. I don't know which one would suit me best.

I'm starting with debt collection defense (third party collections). After I whip them in court several times (pro bono), they will just buckle under when I get a good federal case against them.

It will build a great win-loss record for me against them.

It's a good way not to be restricted to one state.

I'm actually very much interested in international investment and foreign trade law. It's the one field I would like to specialize in.

I'm very interested in public health law but I highly doubt it's a very thrilling branch of law. It's not versatile and therefore quite restrictive.

Your path seems quite interesting. Are you in law school?

I wish I were in better-understanding about my own gut-Knowings.

hmmm, just remembered that T.D. Jakes has a book on Instincts. (I'll have to buy or borrow a copy.)
I heard a group of prophetic ministers on tv talk-show recently discussing that phenomenon of feeling the answer in your 'guts'...

One was saying that we have DUAL nervous systems in our body... One is ENTERIC, running through our guts (entrails, intestines).

The two systems share a common trough or channel-points in area of the vagus-nerve? (which I ~vagusly-recall is connected to the Heart-organ itself, isn't it?) ....

When you get that 'gut' feeling, and it connects to your 'Heart' then your logical 'brain' can follow it because you got 'nerve' ...
