all right guys ,i admit it.I AM CURIOUS.
i have seen a variety of usernames here -from the down to earth to the downright weird.and i want to know WHY your usernames are what they are?
i'll go first -
SPR are my initials and i just add the 2 vowels 'u' and 'e' to make it SUPER; the sign of the taurus is my sun sign therfore SUPER BULL.
I normally use this name while playing compu games and stuff cos i think it sounds macho. it also keeps the unwanted characters away while i am chatting.

hi superbull

i have a couple of names, but they are both my nicknames in real life.

my 'official' type artisticish marketable name is 'abstractica'. i am proud to say that i invented it, so if you see it online anywhere and its not me, its stolen. i highly doubt that two people could have come up with that rather weird twisting of the word abstraction. long ago an exbf started calling me abstraction, because i do tend to spout random stuff out at times, and because i was so hard to understand (that coming from a GEMINI!!! i do think he admired it though, wasnt meant to be cutting). i told him one day that as i was female, it should be abstractica, and it stuck. that was one of my first names that i used when publishing poetry, and i usually sign any artwork i do that way.

anafaery is two things. i have wanted to change my name to anais for a few years, as i hate my given name. i have changed it, just not legally. too expensive. anyway the name ana suits me fairly well. i dont cringe when i hear it anyway. i chose the name anais as i was (and may again be, im rediscovering) a big admirer of anais nin. she has touched my life in many ways, and i love most of her writing.

the faery part came one day in an irc chat, we were all goofing around with our names, we often did. i had a chatroom and a fairly busy message board/site of my own. it was videogame related. anyway, one day we had a theme going (we often did for fun), and it was like... everyone was renaming themselves things like so&soelf and so&sodwarf etc, and i picked anafaery. i am quite faeryish, if you get to know certain sides of my personality. i just kept it after that. more than a few people have told me that i very much suit the name faery, lol. thats what my husband calls me, to this day. i would change my name legally to faery as it suits me even better than ana, but it would look funny if i was applying for a job

so, theres the scoop on my names. hope that wasnt too boring

anafaery is my more personal name. thats why i use it here. i didnt want to be abstractica here, cause well, i just didnt.

N stands for "Nemesis" which was a quake2 clan i used to run back when i was a little 'un.

I just stick it on as an alternate when i forget the password to my origional account and/or get ping timeouts from IRC channels

"wEvil" is actually an anagram of parts of my name.

I have a cat who insists on laying across the monitor when she's cold, try pulling her off and she digs her claws in and holds on as hard as she can. Her name is teasel (we call her teaselbaby as well).

ah... quake clans

that reminded me of another nick i had- anathema. that was my quake 3 arena name. i was in one of the best dreamcast q3a clans. it was EG*A, and i was proud to wear the tag. my clan rocked, we were among the best on seganet (myself excluded ). i guess i was ok. i had some really good games against some skilled people, but they were few and far i actually was a pc player but a bunch of us pc players would hang on the seganet servers because of our friends. i didnt rip on the dc folk with their inferior hardware and connections though. well, not that often i had some self esteem issues at the time lol. i actually had to be better than average to get in cause my husband was the clanleader. so he couldnt lower the bar for me, or wed both look lame.

those were some sad times, but they were still fun. makes me wanna rip quakey out again and play a few maps. ah, the old ones trying to recapture their glory, can there be anything less pathetic?

im gonna do it soon though, play a few maps. it *was* fun. just bad memories associated with that particular time in history.

I did so much in highschool (theater, choir, swim team, figure skating, work, A+ grades, student council etc) and I got up for swim practice at 5:15 every day, worked the bakery from 6 am-6pm Saturdays and Sundays and all that stuff, that I was always exhausted, or as my one girlfriend used to always laugh at me "knackered". Everyone started calling me Nackie after that lol, the name stuck.

Only problem is, I use that as a Nick in a German Forum, and the German word "nackig" means naked, so they all think bad things when they read my nick lol

Heyya Super B!

Wasn't there another thread about this somewhere? If you would like to know....

My name, well is a long story. It has everything to do with Elfs! After a beautiful experience Gem and I had I simply adore them now. I see my Beloved as an Elf (his face really changes in an Elf face sometimes...I love when his ears become more fluffy, I can even imagine that soft hairs will be growing on his ears) and thank God he also sees one in me sometimes . Elf is Eleven in Dutch and that is a very important number to us. We have been seeing the number ever since we are together and our anniversary date is also the 11th of January (1). Sow...I have bought a sweet book about Elfs and all the differences between them (there are só many) and I saw the name Sylven. Now I love the way that sounds, she is an air Elf I think (my memory...pfff ). And since I wanted to change my name Mercy into something else I thought Sylven suits great! I even inserted the name in Kabalarians.com. A site which analysez names and tells the characteristics of a name and it's weaknesses. Very enjoyable and adviseable when you have a child to name . But...Sylven wasn't part of their files...more reason for me to take the name as my 'own'.

So there you go.

Nackie! I even think your name (when you pronounce it in English) means condom in Finland. When you say Nackie with a short 'a' it means sausage in Finnish. So don't go to a finnish forum !

Oh and once I was in New York, came into the lift and some people asked me:"hello, how are you!" I answered:" I am knackered!" We just had a 6/7 hours flight and jetlag. But the people looked on their noses, they wondered:" did she just say she is naked?" I saw them wondering so immediately told them out loud:" No....not NáKED!!!!" They still looked suprised. It's probably me!

Very funny! Great you choose that name!

My username is silverbells because In Love Signs Linda talks about Libras who's voices sound like the chiming of bells in the Swiss Alps (and that is just so charming to hear about myself and it is true); and that reminded me of that book that I Love: The Apple and the Arrow (the William Tell story) which takes place in the Swiss Alps. So I took silverbells.
Hey this is a good thread, I have always rather wondered about the knowflakes' usernames.

Trillian is Tricia McMillen in _The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy_. It's the nickname given to her when she takes to the stars with Zaphod Beeblebrox, he of two heads, who was briefly the president of the Galaxy. She's a pretty cool, level-headed, fearless chick.

Oh, it's been soooo long since I read those books, but I loved them.

I know there's a chat system now, also named Trillian, but I daresay, they stole the word from its creator/author Douglas Adams. Though who knows? Maybe Adams adopted it from something else...

Oh Lord Trillian, that dredges up old memories I had forgotton about the series and the name. Maybe in my next life I`ll be Ford Perfect.

Ford to Arthur :"`Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.
`Very deep,' said Arthur, `you should send that in to the "Reader's Digest". They've got a page for people like you.'"

Thanks for another great memory! I read all those books, I have all of them still...

Oh, but remember Ford's name is actually PREfect, rather than Perfect! He was my favorite character, actually.

I love the droll humor throughout them.
"...it tasted almost, but not completely, unlike tea," or something to that effect.

Perhaps a thread, favorite quotes from the Hitchhiker's Trilogy!
Slartibartfast was another fave character, in one of the later books...

Jeez, don't get me going!

OH!! And the best quote of all (If I don't get it verbatim, forgive my memory):

"What is the answer to the meaning of Life?"
"42"

Greetings ALL!

Yep, proxi, share!

Mine is sorta silly. My best friend is a Leo. Whenever we are at odds she reminds me that I'm a weak little Pisces FISH, while she is a mean ol' cat!

The LOONY is descriptive of both my Cancer Asc. and my usual state of mind! LOL

Brah, I've tol' ya'll before.

I wanted to get a new yahoo mail address b/c my hotmail address became overwhelmed by spam.
I typed in "proxyme" (as my e-mail is sorta my electronic proxy), but that was taken, so I typed in "proxieme", and that went through.
I'm too lazy to remember multiple names and passwords (hell-o, hackers), so I began using that pretty much across the board.

But, now, if I want to sound all esoteric-y and stuff, I can say that it "this" me here on earth is really a proxy for the "real" me.

Ooooh, Aaaaah.
