I find it fascinating that this concept of "uglifying" a contemporary website by throwing in random elements of early Internet design, comes from a Swedish guy -- Sweden is known for great furniture design.Somehow it makes me think of (Dane) Hans Christian Andersen's tale of "The Snow Queen", where a mirror designed by Satan to reflect the world as ugly is smashed to bits, and shards fall to earth and enter human hearts and eyes, making them see and feel the world as ugly... so methinks (or suspects) there might be a Scandinavian cultural link there.
