GOVT345 Political Islam (3:3:0). Covers the politics of religion in Muslim societies; history, ideology and practices of key individuals movements, and institutions; case studies of political Islam in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and the West, plurality and diversity of political _expression in the Muslim World; nature of democracy in Islam and the Islamic state.
Taken b/c
a)it's interesting
and
b)taught by the best lecturer I think I've ever had.

GOVT412/COMM 412 Politics and the Mass Media (3:3:0). Prerequisite: GOVT 103. Responsibilities and freedoms of the mass media in a democracy. Influence of media on citizens' opinions, elections, and decisions of public officials is explored.
Juuust useful.

GOVT423 Constitutional Law: Civil Rights and Liberties (3:3:0). Prerequisite: GOVT 103. Study of the First Amendment freedoms of speech, press, assembly, association, and religion; the right to privacy; and Fourteenth Amendment equal protection.
Ditto on the good-to-knowness.

ANTH399 Issues in Anthropology (3:3:0). Prerequisite: ANTH 114 and 60 credits, or permission of instructor. Topic of contemporary interest in anthropology, changing from semester to semester, and focusing on topics such as sex roles, anthropology and ethics, and primate social organization. May be repeated for credit.

399/2 - Anthropology of Conflict Resolution
Double ditto, as well as interesting.

399/7- The Spirit World
Hey, I need something purely fun...which will involve lots and lots of reading...(eh, so I have a skewed sense of what's fun).

THE NEXT SEMESTER'S COMING UP!!!

Hr - Will do

trillian & dorkus - Thankya, thankya

sb - Yep, in the lower levels (freshman/sophomore years), they're a bit more static. You take modules that're ...
well, here's what they say (I honestly don't know that much about the first two years as I transferred in w/ an Associates):

Communities & Courses

In the Jr & Sr years, you may choose to between learning community courses and courses w/i the College of Arts and Sciences. One talks w/ their advisor in order to determine the courses which would best help them to reach their goals.

Yeah, it's the Dirty Hippie College

And here's
The Dirty Hippie Graduate School

(Note: If your monitor's juuust the right size, the little floating "facta et verba" box covers one of the title words juuust enough to be really funny.)
