I cross bred some daylillies (15 bloomed)and while enjoying them today, I started noticing how their personalities were similar to astrological signs. Even some knowflakes appeared to resemble the flowers.

I found mys-elf eyeing them and thinking : you remind me of a strong bold Leo . That sturdy dependable color is so Capricorn. Even a few sassy Sags in there. Most are Aquarius tho, funky and totally not the norm for standard daylillys . Gotta work on them some more.

As they are new crosses, they have no official name, so I named them all after knowflakes. Guess what color/style you are ...

Gotta be the Mars energy affecting me.

Oh yes Prox The vibrant yellow with a creamy throat. Strong and bends with the winds. Slender, richly colored, deep green fans (leaves) It`s lovely & a keeper!

Trillian, the Aries, the wine with a green throat. Should be disease resistent based on the strength of the parents.Tall, stately and catchs the eye immediately. Also a keeper.

I am trying to purchase a digital. My gardens are the lovelyest and richest than they`ve ever been

Hmmm, Wevil, of course theres one for you . The majority are Aquas after all. No standard features and certainly don`t conform to either parent.

The Wevil is a color not ascertained. In different lighting, it appears to change.
In dappled light, a soft apricot, in twilight, a luminesce white, but in full sun, a beautiful two - toned pink with a greenish throat. A fascinating one with a lot of depth. So unusual,I don`t believe it`s reproducable.

Thanks for the tip Wevil, they`re costly arn`t they!

Well,

If there's a black, wilted, ugly one that only blooms at night ... that even the bugs don't like ... and the animals try to eat it and then spit it out because it tastes bad ... that would have to be your miserable Capricorn HRJ777 variety.

Sorry ... just my mood Juni ... I'm sure all your flowers are beautiful. Myself, I have a brown thumb which means I manage to kill even plants that are hard to kill.

Aw Heidi, there is NO ugly flower, misplaced and overlooked sometimes, but never ever ugly!.. In the right place, with the just right companions, they shine on their own merit . You are a flower in the garden of life and your value in the garden is placed in high esteem.

Cappy lillys are strong of stem, hardy, thick leaved & took on the trait of a particular parent. It seems to hold the garden together. This one is so close to the parent, 'Christmas'. It`s a softer burgendy with a brilliant green throat. Stunning.

1Scorp, no runts, but a couple of dwarfs to stand at the feet of the taller to help carry the eye and bring out the color of their taller companions

I had a hard time getting the feel for the Scorp, maybe too complex There`s no true reds, but if there was, I think it``d be a Scorp.

I feel the dwarfs are Virgos, they pack a punch in a subtle way, pinks and wine colored with lite pink throats. They are sure of thems-elves standing there; knowing they are helping to pull it together

Ana, you would be right at home here The next time you`re flitting about, land on my Oriential Lillys. They are 8 inchs across this year. They have the most glorious fragrance thats soooo intoxicating. I have Star Gazers, Tom Pounce, Muscadet, lovey Lady, Star Fighter and numerous others that arn`t as fragrant but awesome!

Lillys of all types are my fav too.

Hmmm Scatbug.... I spend so much time shooing and hollering 'scat bug or I`ll chemicalize you' that I never gave it any thought.

Then again, I use llama scat on the beds which draws the bugs in the first place.... Geez, this will take some serious thinking I`ll go mozey around and see what I come up with.

Awww... a red one I like it.

You haven't seen a red one in your mix? Well... it might just be hiding... maybe one might come out next year.

My Aqua g/f with a Capricorn moon is very good with flowers, etc. also.

She helped me out one year with mine. I had all different types... I planted them... the following year they came up in some crazy places!

She helped me replant them all! When I moved from there I dug up every one of them and gave them all to her

1Scorp Yup, sometimes I get surprises too. Bird poop and chickens carry my seeds everywhere. How do you suppose yours traveled

I do hope red next year as there`s a dozen or so that didn`t bloom!

My ascend. is Cappy, so it must figure in the love of the soil & growing plants somewhere.

Hmmmmm, a sag lily?

Well, I imagine it would be kind of a violet or purple flower with a flexible stem. Strong enough to withstand the wind, but flexible enough to still get tangled up with other lillies ...LOL...

It would also always face up, like looking at the sun - feeling the warmth and being happy. LOL

Aphrodite, no purples, but lavendar shades with extra long stamens and ruffled with a darker border. So feminine yet sassy looking. They so look bouncy and carefree in the breeze. Aphrodite it is.

Pidaua, one of the reasons I love daylillys so is because they follow the sun! From east to west their smiling faces turn to get the full effect! Altho each bloom lasts only one day, the show is stunning.

The sassy Sag is a sturdy velvety looking pink with a maroon braid (border)with a dark eye. So self assured s/he doesn`t even mind that s/he`s standing right next to an earthy orange and yellow Taurus
