Hey guys! I decided since my parents gave me some money in my bday card to go buy highlights for my hair. And then I entrusted my roommate to do it. I thought it would be pretty to have blonde all thru out. Well oh no. Let me tell you. Only some of it got dyed! OMIGOODNESS. Now I have to walk around like this until I can dye it all over. *sigh* I am trying not to be mortified! aaaah!------------------ Namaste! IP: Logged |

Oh no Fajita, how bad is it? Do you mean that some of the streaks are not continuous? I would suggest going to a professional, but that is pricey. Did the highlights come out blonde or are they red? What you can do is buy a color shampoo /conditioner (they are temporary) and will help blend the colors. Sorry about your hair. IP: Logged |

That SUCKS! Although it would probably be easier to deal w/ not continuous blond than not continuous red - which came out? I'd say play it up (hey, you *are* an Aquarius ) - shave your whole head (or nearly do so), or add lots of other not-continuous streaks of different colors (kinda a mild punk look), but you've got a job to go to. And, you know, people who look at you. But that's why I seldom if ever dabble in the mysterious realm of cosmetic beautifying methods - I just know I'd end-up with blue hair. IP: Logged |

hey.. I used to struggle to get my hair blue.. Course that was back in my punk days.oh Danita, I feel for you. Once, after I'd had my hair dyed black for a few months and my roots were totally showing, I tried to bleach the black out. Well... only my roots were really affected by it and so I had this weird reddish blonde 'halo' root thing going on with black on the ends. I was mortified so I decided to stop fighting the freaky look and dyed the roots GREEN. So yeah.. my suggestion would be to get some Manic Panic and go for the all out punk look. IP: Logged |

Okay, I am a cosmetician who deals with home haircolour.. I take the courses and all that, so I am up-to-date, and people come in all the time with tragedies... The suggestion of using a temporary colour is great! If it were too dark, I would suggest just using a clarifying shampoo or head and shoulders.. there is an actual method to this too. But since you have removed the pigment from your hair, and are now left with the orange-y brassy non-colour, all you can do is either go with the blond streaks, use another gentle bleaching kit... *gentle* and only on the areas you need more bleaching out, and then just near the end of the development time, run it thrugh the rest. The scalp develops faster than the rest of the hair because it is warm, and usually 'virgin' hair, which takes to dye really well.. it is actually hard to colour over existing colour, as the structure of the hair is altered. The pigments mix with both your natural pigments and the chemical/natural ones. Oh, and your hair will oxidize in about a week.. the colour will be a truer colour as it adapts. That is what you do if you'd like to go with the blond streaks. You can further tone down the brassiness by using a cool tone... be wary of ash tones... as depending on the lightness of the hair, they can give the hair a greenish hue... like throwing in a green sock with a white load! Or consult a professional, but I know cost is an issue. Talk to the cosmetician.. I don't know about where you are, but here, we are very educated. Ask to see leaflets, pamphlets, call the company.. L'oreal/Clairol/Garnier.... etc.. OR... Colour your hair darker. Use a demi-permanent colour, one that washes out, instead of growing out like permanents.... That way you can plump and fortify the surface of the hair, and the colours tend to be a bit darker.. especially if you leave them on longer. You may want to concentrate the colour exactly where the streaks are, and only rinse it through the rest, provided, of course, that you choose a similar colour to your natural, or base. If you have longish hair... you will need two boxes.. to fully saturate the hair. Make sure it is good and wet.... the colour needs to be in order to take properly. Well, Darlin', I hope I helped a wee bit, I hope it gets better, and let me just say.. no worries, I have been there too!!!!

Anytime, schnookies, anytime!!!! Although I am not good at the practical stuff, just the theory. I have curly hair, so theonly time it sees a comb is when it is wet and saturated in conditioner...gently. Believe me, it is not a pretty sight if brushed dry... *POOOFFF* When i was a younger girl, my best friend,m who was native, and her sisters all had long beautiful, silky straight and strong hair. I would sit on their porch with them and brush their hair for hours... What a sensual, yet innocent thing that was. I'm sure they enjoyed the attention I lavished, and I enjoyed doing it. Now my daughter doesn't let me touch her hair!!! It's not fair, really, as she has somewhat straight hair, but with body, and frizz if she needs a wash.... If she only knew how much I enjoy touching hai and sharing like that.. maybe one day when she is older, she will want me to brush her hair... I am going on and on here,. but i came home from a great night out, and I am still drunk and occupying myself until I feel like sleeping. IP: Logged |

BOO! Found you again, pix......Aha! So you DID go out...glad you had a good time.... My hair is curly too, but now its so long that it pulls it out- but when I was a youngin' it was super-curly, until my mom chopped it all off, and was flat as a board until high school...weird, what hair will do.
