well...Why no avatars at Lindaland? I've been perusing around another message board and noticed the wide range of avatars and rather like that feature for it's ability to convey the personality of the poster right off the bat.I was just curious if there are specific reasons we don't have them here. They can be distracting, and I don't want Lindaland to look like other Boards.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

What are avatars and why do you think this forum needs them, Harpyr?IP: Logged |

An Avatar is a graphic (usually animated) that is attached to the User's messages (normally on the left of each Post). I want Lindaland to be about content as opposed to a lot of flash.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." I still don't understand why we would need them in the sense of animated thingies. REAL avatars are something different. Look what I found. av·a·tar 1.The incarnation of a Hindu deity, especially Vishnu, in human or animal form. 2.An embodiment, as of a quality or concept; an archetype: the very avatar of cunning. 3.A temporary manifestation or aspect of a continuing entity: occultism in its present avatar.

Here I thought someone was hiding a learned avatar from me!!!! So this word has been co-opted by the WWW? I hereby dub myself the "Avatar of Phat Beats and Conspiracy Theories" Actually, thats the business cards some friends made for me.... But isn't it fun? Being an avatar sounds like the name of a comic book hero!! hehehehhe MK IP: Logged |

me too MK.... I thought they were called gifs or jpegs et al.... I was trying to figure out how Randall knew who was & who wasn`t and if a real Avatar wanted in, well they`d just join up. ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |

One of the things I really like about this board set up is there`s no "who`s online" or "who`s previewing what forum" menu! That has always annoyed me juniperb ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |

While I have no desire for little animated thingys, I do hope that if Randall stumbles across someone who is Vishnu incarnated, he will invite them to Lindaland. IP: Logged |

I thought perhaps if Thoth dropped by, I could ask some questions about The Emerald Tablets as well. All are welcome here at Lindaland juniperb IP: Logged |
