While I was at the OB today, I got a call saying that my 15-year-old step-brother died after a dirt bike accident with some friends. I still don't know specifics, but when his dad got home he found him surrounded by those friends and bleeding from the nose and mouth, so it was probably massive head/neck trauma.
I'm going to try to go back up to Virginia for the funeral, although I'll have to wait on my Dr's recommendation (and how strongly he holds to it) since I was having contractions today during the non-stress test.

So, uh, juniperb - if I don't post and you're wondering where I am, it's Virginia.

oh no

I'm sending love and light to you and your family, Corri.

Is this the same brother that you've talked about around here before?

Oh my God! I am SO SORRY.

I am not sure exactly what to say to you.

Maybe just that I do know that life always, always continues for us all after death, and so I know that he is in the arms of the angels now, as they say.

I am just so sorry that this tragedy has befallen your family.

Please accept my deepest sympathies for you and your loved ones.

I am sending all of you a special blessing today.

I hope that everyone within the circle of your step-brother's family and friends feel it's light wherever they are right now!

Love,
Playful

Oh Prox, I'm so very sorry.

Is this the brother we've come to know from your descriptions? The one with the pot?

Love and Light to you and your family.

Prox....my thoughts and prayers are with you, and your family during this time of sorrow... healing lite
You must stay calm, though, dear Pisces/Scorp lady, for your sake, and that precious little soul you are carrying. She'll feel your tension too.
May you all feel close, no matter the distance, and whether or not you're able to travel.

Oh, Corrie

That's not your brother brother, right? It's your dad's wife's son, right? Still...wow...that's so harsh. Please except my deepest sympathies for you and your family. Oh, that's just too sad.

Thank you all.
Ryan's not the brother I've talked about - he's a little Virgo guy, the son of my mother's for-all-intents-and-purposes husband (we all think of him as our step-brother since we've known him for about 10 years; geez, since he was about 5).
I'm fine (except crying, but that's normal).
I know he's fine. I may have huge problems with faith and belief, but this I know.
My family does need the light that you all are sending, though.
My little (biological) brother was the closest to him out of all of us (there's only about a year's difference in their ages) - he was home when it happened, but not with those guys. He hates dirt bikes.
They're too noisy for him.
My Step-Dad, too, despite whatever disagreements we may have had and have - no one needs to find their child dead. No one needs to try to revive their lifeless boy; he called my Mom, apparently near breakdown, saying that he was dead. A helicopter even came in (it was in a field) and took him out, but it was too late for that.
And my Mom. Ryan lived in their house; he had practically stopped seeing his biological Mom b/c she...has her own issues.
And my sister, Emily. And his sister, Sara.
Thank you for all of them.

I'm going to have to get examined b/f I'm cleared for travel (to make sure that my contractions so far haven't been fruitful), so you can wish me luck on that if you like.

Thank you all.

On that, does anyone know where to find really cheap airfares?
I don't think that I can make the drive at this point.

Yes, Prox...this Mercury's son will happily soar through the Universe, unencumbered by the weight of a body, and no need for a dirt bike either...but not until his loved ones here on earth allow it by accepting it, and wishing him Godspeed...it will take a little time, naturally. Know that he is acutely aware of his family and friends' pain, and the emotional power in your grief can keep him tethered to this plane. I'm sorry if this sounds hokey, but I mean it very sincerely and I'm sending him love and wishing him well on his future journeys. (future...present...past...it's all the same...it's all the Universal NOW)

Again, thank you.

I'll be here after all - the overwhelming consensus with everyone involved is that they don't want to risk me making the trip.
My Mom and Hobie, especially, are afraid that this would trigger early labor and that something would happen to the baby.

I still wish I could be there, though.
