As I read through many, many posts here in Lindaland, particularly the ones that are fervent; I am beginning to notice that the topics become less and less about the issue and more about personal discontent. The insides rippling out.

This is the first time I've noticed . . . so much Egotism here.

I suppose there are things we are very passionate about that hit a personal chord.

Hard to be objective when things hit so close to home...

...but...I think storms like these are good, they clear the air, blow away some debris, then everyone feels better when the sun comes out again.

I know, Trillian.

Lately I've been thinking about the site as a single entity.

Just feels like being in a bad relationship with one too many cyclically vicious turns.

I'm going to take it easy and not visit for a while.

Cheers,

Aphrodite

Awww, it saddens me greatly that one of the brightest lights here needs a break. I will miss you so much.

But...I totally understand. I get too attached to this place too.

I love you A.

Dear Amy,

We will miss you, but I do understand what you are going through. I am sorry that there were times I didn't seem to respond to you, but please know your words are ALWAYS meaningful to me. I look up to you and always have - even if that doesn't come across.

I admired how you brought people away from some of the terrible things being posted and brought up better subjects like Candy and Magick.

Please know that you will be missed.

Lots of love and blessings,

Shawnee

Did anyone notice how quickly we embraced the topic of Aphrodite visiting less frequently?

That WASN'T the original topic of this post.

The topic was Egotism here at Lindaland. I for one am up to my eyebrows in it...maybe even further. My ego is playing psychological warfare with me around every turn.

It's one of the reasons that I've been so cautious in posting lately.

I tend to wonder if a group of so-called enlightened/truth seeking individuals like us are even WILLING to entertain the notion that something is going awry. Perhaps Aphrodite has noticed the beginning of something that could be rectified if it could be identified? Perhaps the customer complaint that is serious enough to turn someone away is an early warning.

Perhaps the first mouthful of sour milk isn't a sign to throw the milk out, but to work out any bugs in the refrigerator.

We're all guilty of egotism from time to time.

I love Amy and hope she comes back soon...

...but things take on a life of their own, and you just have to allow them to be what they are. Life isn't static, nor is LL.

In the Yin and Yang of Life, things find a way to reach balance.

LOL...Not to be cynical or sarcastic, but yes, swallowing the first mouthful of sour milk does mean you must throw out the milk- because it is bad - but you can still keep the refrigerator and see if that is what has the problem - or maybe it was just past the milks expiration date.

We all have egos and yes at times this board can become a mouthpiece for all of us that at times express our egos more than at other times.

In the same respect, we have all taken breaks. I took a break as well - because I couldn't deal with some of what I perceived as being nothing more than people posting again and again just for the sake of attention. Topics went out of control, women were putting themselves in a position to be raped and some people just kept posting nuttier and nuttier stuff....In My OPINION. What is crazy in my mind may be perfectly reasonable in anothers.

So who had the problem? Me or the people getting on my nerves? Well, it is obvious - it was me, because I didn't have to respond, I didn't have to let it get to me, but I did. The break did me well and Amy really helped me through it. She had prepared me for the time when that harsh Saturn aspect would complete my T-square with my moon, mercury and Uranus.

So now it is her turn. I miss her so much, but I know she'll be back. She just needs her time.

I like what Trillian said about the balance - yes it is the Ying and Yang of things...it will balance out.

I stepped back for a while too, for the same reasons, Pid. But I can't stay away from here permanently. There's too many great people here, and I actually miss this place like a friend after a while. I hear ya on that general feeling of annoyance though. Sometimes you just blow a gasket. You feel like you have to, because the other option is to just not come here anymore. Many have chosen that path in the past, but we don't all give up that easily. Some of us feel like, "well what have I got to lose? It sucks so bad right now that either I'll play a part in making it better, or I'll know that it really is time to leave, there's nothing worth redeeming anymore"

I'm not sure if that's what she's even talking about. Maybe she means there's too much boasting and posturing going on. We do try to communicate the things that we're proud about, without actually bragging. Especially after taking blows to the ego publically. It's a form of image damage control. It's like, "no, no...I'm not all bad. I was the star on my high school football team, you know. And I have an IQ of 144, you know. I'm not perfect, but I'm still a pretty good s***." We all want people to know our good points, because we all know how easy it is for people to decide to dislike one another, and for such stupid little reasons too, especially females.

And, some of us are just competitive by nature.
