I am p!ssed . I was treated like sh!t at this shop and would like to get some revenge in a mature way. If there is a number I can call that would be cool.

Here is the story, it takes place at a store called Joes Smoke Shop:

Okay, I have been treated rudely here before, but nothing terribly bad up until tonight. Usually its just making the transaction and that is all, not so much as a "hi", "how are you" or "have a good night" or anything. I am thinking especially of that one real tall guy who just is not real friendly. They aren't very welcoming and I certainly started going there less and less as time went on.

However, I went tonight because Pauls was closed (missed it by 2 minutes). I went to get a 6 pack of gearys and chips. He rung them up and than I noticed I did not have enough cash so I said "On second thought I won't get the chips" and oooooohhhh boy did things go real south after that! The man literally started dropping F bombs under his breath! Because apparently people do it all the time and he decided that he had had enough. He was so enraged that he did not hear the young gentleman next to him trying to tell him that it is quite simple to fix the problem. I heard him say "no no ". But he was ****** and did not hear. My thoughts: WHATEVER it is your job! of course people do that **** (they decide on not buying something), it is normal! So he slammed the 6 pack on the cabinet, it was very scary, I did not feel comfortable as he rung it up again. I said I had a bag on me but for some reason he gave me one anyway, saying something and disrespecting my wishes (whats the point?)

As I left I said "won't be shopping here again" as he CONTINUED to drop swears under his breath, turning to the kid next to him to rant about me deciding not to buy chips after they were rung up. I have worked at a register before, it is NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL and I was treated like **** for it! on a scale from 1 to 10 on annoyance factor, it is maybe a 1.5, trust me, even on a bad day, it is not that big of a deal!!

I have been given the silent treatment, dealt with an unwelcoming atomsphere to long and continue to give you my money anyways, But I will NOT be sworn at and feel threatened over a freaking bag of chips! Not to toot my own horn, but I think I handled the situation pretty gracefully outside of a face I made for a brief second and maybe my comment at the end was not called for (won't be shopping here anymore) but I personally think it was called for. You DON'T treat customers like that. For petty stuff like that.

I will at least talk to the manager. Maybe I will wait a day before calling/visiting to talk.

You probably stopped him from going home and offing his wife and kids. PsYCHo. So, you did your good deed of the day.

I had a similar experience, only not near as overt. I actually looked at her and said "Geez, I made a MISTAKE, and I'm sorry, is it really THAT big of a deal!?" which worked for my situation because it made other people stop and listen... but your guy was making such a scene anyway so he probably would have picked up the cash register and threw it at you.

Do you know if this guy is the owner of the store? If not, I would call the shop and place a complaint with the owner. When you call, make sure you tell them that this type of behavior should NOT be permitted, and tell them that if they do not replace that particular clerk, you are going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. Which, you need to do regardless. That type of behavior is absolutely inexcusable and unacceptable. Report them immediately. The customer is ALWAYS right, and that should NEVER happen.

strange....i felt that i was treated very rudely the other day too. and it had very intense effect on my psyche. like, i felt that the rudeness had penetrated my psyche and pierced my inner core in some way. it left me feeling disconcerted and off balance all day.

i was at a natural market, and suffering in the worst way with severe flu. i went there to purchase natural remedies for such. as i approached the cashier and placed my items on the counter, she looked me straight in the eyes and smiled the kindest, dazzling smile. i was impressed with what seemed like such kindness, esp feeling as bad as i did.

she asked how we were doing (my son and i) and i replied that we would be feeling much better once we had taken some vitamin c, which we were purchasing. she looked sympathetic and understanding.

she then told me the amount due, and as i was feeling groggy with flu symptoms, i just wrote the amount she stated....that she had stated very clearly, on my check. $87.13. there was a long line of people behind us.

i handed her the check and suddenly her whole demeanor and attitude shifted into hateful, sarcastic angry woman from hell. she flashed me a look of pure spite and venom, and said in a voice dripping with sarcasm and poison..."the amount is $87.12. do you want me to just give you a penny?" WEIRD...i know, it doesn't sound rude, but her attitude was just so MEAN. this time she looked me straight in the eyes, but with a look of pure hatred, knowing very well that she had stated very clearly that the amount was 87.13 -- as if to say, "i know i said that, what are you going to do about it?"

everything seemed to become very quiet, and the line of people behind us was unnaturally silent, as if waiting with bated breath to see what would happen. i just looked at her and said "sure," confused by her actions. she handed the penny to me in the most supercilious way, rolled her eyes at me, and threw a final poison arrow look at me of insidious hatred.

i gave the penny to my son and left the store. it honeslty felt like some sort of psychic attack. i was extremely disconcerted. while driving to the laundromat from there, i felt icky and invaded, as if there was this dark cloud of malice that had penetrated my aura.

i couldn't shake the dark energy for the rest of the afternoon. or evening. finally after my son went to sleep, though i was feeling so depleted from the flu symptoms, and exhausted, i decided that a bath might cleanse the dark energy from my psyche. i added a huge amount of sea salt, a big splash of vinegar, and essential oil of clove (cleansing and protective). i felt soooo much better afer this bath, but still depleted from this 'attack'. i was able to sleep though, and i felt the malice lingering for a few days.

the strangest occurrence. what is it that causes this behavior? i don't know, and i try to remember to be aware of such things...but i still forget at times. i just forget that people can be so rude and venomous....because -- what's the point? i don't understand. i was a cashier in a market once, and though i'm sure i had bad days and wasn't always as kind to people as i would have liked, i never launched such pointed venom towards anyone.

i thought about posting the event here for a few days, but then thought it better to just forget it, though now i realize it was cleansing in a way to express what happened.

Perhaps it’s my age, but it seems to me that clerks have gotten ruder across the board in the last few decades….. I haven’t been psychicly/verbally assaulted lately like carl and naiad, but it seems there’s a lot less civility or even restraint on the part of some people in the service sector….. perhaps they don’t get any public relations training anymore (and many of them certainly must not have learned it at home from their parents).

One experience that left me speechless was a trip to JC Penney. I’d just put some hand lotion on which contains tee tree oil when I parked my car, and I took my purchase to the counter, where the clerk exclaimed “Phew!! Did you just stop at the gas station? You STINK of gasoline!!!” I didn’t know what to reply, after I’d recovered my wits and tongue, and it seemed easier to just agree with her, so I nodded, paid and left

This sector also seems to abound with the “Little Hitler” type, who has to have everything done their way, with the customer following orders.

Carl, I would definitely report this employee to the store manager or owner – they can’t have employees who drive business away. If I were the owner I would want to know.

I have given them poor reviews on 3 sites so far. If just a half dozen people see these review sites, I will be happy. I have been treated poorly enough. I like to shop local most of the time, but not if I have to deal with this junk. If you know of other sites where folks review local shops, please tell!

Hi Carl, I think the mature thing to do is to talk to the manager, and hopefully, that idiot is not the owner. Just don't do something you'll regret.

he's a dum retard, a born loser dont waste your energy thinking about such a jerk who doesnt deserve your attention in the first place...
when ever i come across such people i just ask in a very firm voice (and angry looks)
"IS THERE ANY PROBLEM??...IS SOMETHING WRONG"?? ... that pretty much stops the mumbling (i prefer silent treatment rather than someone mumbling under their breath)
you would feel much better if you deal with these situations on the spot... everyone has a first experience so this was your very first incounter im sure now u know what to do next time.. best of luck ( the world is full of such morons) .

Write them an acid letter, and don't shop there again.

You're a Scorp - if it's Mars energy (I'm an Aries), they'll feel it.
