My Grandma died this morning in the nursing home from congestive heart failure. She was 97, and had been ready ever since my Grandpa died 10 years ago. They were married for 62 years. I am going to miss her so much. She was very much a mother to me, she was kind, gentle, patient, and loving. Many of the qualities my own mother lacked. I spent a great deal of time at their house. I have so many happy memories there. It was a very safe and loving home.Be at peace Grandma, and I love you forever. I'm sorry for your loss, goatgirl. But happy for your grandmother. The ancient Celts were wise to mourn birth and celebrate death. She's in the arms of the angels now.

gg, I am very sorry for your loss. Your grandmother sounds like she was an amazing woman. My grandma was much like yours in that she had so many qualities that my mother lacked. I miss her just as much today as I did when she passed 5 years ago. Easter was one of her favorite holidays... My prayers are with you. pidaua IP: Logged |

You were blessed to have each other GG, and walk the path together for a few decades….. No longer is her spirit trammeled in the net of the dense physical vehicle….. You were fortunate to be so close – I never really knew either of my grandmothers….. Deep condolences for your loss, my friend {{{ Love & Hugs }}} K’Z IP: Logged |

I'm sorry for your loss, GoatGirl. It's always hard to lose a loved one. But like Tolkien wrote, 'we are not bound forever to the circles of the world, and beyond them is more than memory.' Death is only the last illusion. Much love. IP: Logged |

Thank you everyone so much for your support. It helps to know that you are thinking of me. I still haven't been able to have a good cry about it. I think that would help.I wrote a poem for Grandma today, and I will put it in the casket for her, along with all your loving thoughts. Here it is: To Grandma With Death's white hand upon her brow, an Angel closed her eyes no more. She was set free to let her spirit soar. A great woman whom I love is gone. I am richer for having known her. She who loved me in return. Without any strings attached. She was gentle, patient, and kind. She gave me her time, knowledge, and wisdom. I will not forget, nor stop loving her, even though I can not touch or see her. I carry her now here, in my heart. There she shall stay until my life closes. ------------------ After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music." - Aldous Huxley IP: Logged |
