There are little green bugs on a newly forming violet blossom. The pot was purchased two weeks ago and is left indoors. Should there be concern about this?

I wouldn`t be pleased about any bugs on my indoor plants Violets have hairy leaves and shouldn`t get wet with anything.

I guess I`d pick each bug off then repot in fresh soil. I pick tiny bugs off by a smidgen of vasoline on a toothpick & touch the bug to stick it to it.

Thats all I would do. Good luck!!

They are probably sucking out the juice from the plant. Did you remove them?

try sprinkling some ash powder ( for example ashes of incense stick or dry leaves) the bugs will dissapear..after sprinkling, tap the plant lightly so that extra ash falls off....and the plant looks nice

Sorry to disappoint all,

The bugs made like the discovery channel and the emerging community is killing the plant. The babies are the smaller than the period on this screen.

I`m sorry Amy If you purchased it buggy, then I`d return it and request my money back. Do you have other plants that may be infected now?

That happened to me w/ a purchase, I bought some pansies and later found they were covered in these little brown bugs that suck the life outta it - since I kept them inside, next to other pansies, by the time I figured out what was going on it had infested my other pansy - luckily it they don't seem to like any of my other houseplants in close proximity. Well I put them both outside and no amount of chemicals or water will get rid of them. When we moved houses, I put them outside, and now one plant is thriving, but the other is still infested. I should have returned the original pansy to Home Depot... too late now, I just power wash the poor baby to get rid of the bugs and hope for the best...

Thank you, All.

The bugs have spread to the other two pots of violets. They were hiding underneath the leaves and dropping their minute sized babies into the soil.

Hopefully, they won't like the mini boxwood shrub.

:-/

The violets were purchased from a Farmer's Market, and I don't have the heart to ask for my $9 dollars back considering that I've had them for 3 weeks.

Aphrodite, at the minimum, they should be made aware of the infestation so they can stop it.

You could look at it this way: You are providing for the families of some cute little bugs.
