If they sprout first, wouldn't you have an edge when planting them. Plus, you could know which ones were dead. Maybe, I am all wrong.

Yes. Well, I have many soaking, but I wonder if the seeds floating to the top are dead. Does anyone know. It seems like they would be, as when you cook rice, the bad ones come to the top and you skim them off( brown rice)

Yes, even with eggs. You can see if they are bad, by putting them in a pan of water. The bad ones float to the top

You can soak them but it depends on the seed.
