There's a vine choking out my flowers. It has a super thin stem, pointed leaves, white flowers with a pale tint of blue-purple at the base. Actually very pretty, but invasive, growing like crazy where I don't want it. Can't seem to find it listed in a book. The closest match is Moonflower because the flowers do seem to open in the late afternoon. The flower shape looks similar to Morning Glory. Anyone familiar with Moonflower ? IP: Logged |

HmmI identified several vines. One huge chocking one is honeysuckle. It may come in different colors. ------------------ Want to Read Simple, Fun,Sexy Articles on Astrology? Check Me Out, DUDE. http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

Here it is called Bindweed. An European native, Convolvulvus arvensis: wild Morning Glory. It is very invasive and will take over if not controled. Birds spread the seed in their feces so where one never saw it, it magically appears. Eradicate it while you only have a few! ------------------ Partial truth~the seeds of wisdom~can be found in many places...The seeds of wisdom are contained in all scriptures ever written… especially in art, music, and poetry and, above all, in Nature.

Juni, that's it !!!!Thank you, mwah! for identifying it. I looked everywhere to find out what it was. Even the master gardeners didn't know it. I keep yanking and yanking. It was in the neighbor's lawn and crossed over choking out my tall day lilies and cucumber plant. I will have to start trimming instead. Now at least I can look up plant medicine and find out what the message Is for me. IP: Logged |

Interesting... "Bindweed: for binding another. It smothers the intentions of others. Used in both hexing and protection."My neighbor has serious boundary issues. i planted a border of very tall day lilies so I could have my garden to myself and to keep his dog from $#!++!%& in my yard. He even planted vegetables IN my yard and when I got up enough courage to ask him why he did that he moved them. Funny thing is, the more I enforce the boundaries, the more he respects me. He's teaching me to become stronger I guess. IP: Logged |

Glad to have helped!! The message seems very appropriate and timely for you.Interestingly, this spring, I taught class`s on indigenous weeds and wildflowers. While bindweed is a transplant from Euorope, it was the most common weed the students asked about . I have battled it in many clients gardens this season as well as my own. ------------------ Partial truth~the seeds of wisdom~can be found in many places...The seeds of wisdom are contained in all scriptures ever written… especially in art, music, and poetry and, above all, in Nature.

I remember those! ~ Flowers are pretty though. This video at sm4:00+ says they can be washed, steamed, and eaten... though not too often because it would become a 'purgative.' The seeds spread by birds and still in the ground can stay viable for a decade. (topic) Bindweed Calystegia Sepium (Wholesome Day) [5:19] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCIp3Z1i3t0 Ugh!... It will be impossible to eliminate completely, as the neighbor on the other side is letting the bindweed flower. I have started clipping at ground level instead of pulling out, but the vines are so strong and wrap so tightly it's hard not to just want to yank!!Juni, would you recommend digging up the daylillies, which are practically dead, or covering them and the bindweed with black plastic. I'm afraid if I move the lilies I will transfer roots or seeds. I think I should just give them to my neighbor to transplant in his yard. He keeps asking me for them anyway. What I really want to do is plant a hedge of fast growing evergreen trees, but I won't get the sun for my vegetable garden. I'm really overrun with vines this year. I harvested so many wild strawberries. I even planted new vinesthis year, cucumber, pole beans and vine spinach. Can a psychic please tell me the message so I won't have to deal with this bindweed anymore IP: Logged |
