I hear of this sometimes! From a FB friend to a youtube guru. Have you ever done this?
Care to share the reason?

I think for many, the reason is SELF LOVE!I have been watching videos about the solar plexus chakra. One lady bought her self some yellow roses as visual inspiration for this chakra. I am thinking about doing this in the future because I read a cleaning website that recommended buying flowers for a coffee table. You'll be less likely to want to clutter the coffee table back up.
BTW she goes by the name Fly Lady. She calls clutter magnet areas in the home "hot spots"
Besides that reason it is a beautiful way to reward yourself for taking time out of our day/days to declutter a hot spot. Plus, I am focused on good vibes in the home environment like never before! So when I do get around to this I'll just have to see when I am. I may be intentional with colors, the plants, how festive they are to the seasons...or just go in with my intuition. IP: Logged |

It can be pretty expensive to go to a flower shop. But don't let that stop you if you are able to do it. Live your life!But for me, to be frugal I could pick flowers at parents. But the grocery store is good middle ground for flowers as well. IP: Logged |

A great thing to do this time of year is to take a handful of winter wheat berries (you can usually find them at health food stores as well as garden centers) and sprinkle them over a shallow dish full of gravel. No soil required, just water, makes a nice little patch of greenery on a windowsill or table. Can do similar with narcissus, amaryllis, and hyacinth bulbs. (Oh man, suddenly I must have a hyacinth! oooo! I've had those in some Trader Joes salads!Amaryllis looks sassy! I think I saw someone in my neighborhood with those flowers I was super intrigued. Ah yes!! I was gifted a hyacinth. I hope I get some to sprout in my pot. I've had them die and come back up. Yes the make the whole apartment smell so great! IP: Logged |

My dad smuggled me into Costco today. A bundle of roses for 17 dollars! In all kinds of shades including yellow. I think I need to put vases on my bridal shower registry. IP: Logged |

Gardenia, sweetshrub, Oriental lily, holy basil (aka tulsi — smells like blueberry pancakes), Tashkent marigold.

So far, so good... unlike the Christmas cactus I bought there, which was covered in flower buds that fell off without blooming. I think I might have over-watered it. The coll thing about this one is that instead of a pot full of soil, the bulbs are just sitting on a little rack in a big glass vase with the roots hanging down in the water.IP: Logged |

I got some pretty flowers for teacher appreciation week! The white rose had paint speckles on it of pink, purple and blue! I had them sit in my pretty vase for weeks! I finally tossed it yesterday. But the babies breath painted hot pink are holding up well and in the vase. I will say that side table has stayed nice and presentable! Same with my other side table that I light candles on. Fiance took the painted babies breath out of the vase.
I notice I am more likely to put my purse and cups in that area now...So I am really starting to think there is something about flowers on surface spaces that is motivating.Fiancé did put the dried babies breath in a skull decoration we have though. I won the table bouquet at the shower I went to. All white flowers. I placed them on the corner table in dinning room. All I know is that the bouquet has hydrangeas in them. Hydrangea is symbolic for gratitude. So whether they realize it or not, they picked a very appropriate flower for people to take home. So I ordered a bunch of dried flowers with amazon gift cards! I have a dried potpouri in my living room. They are figs. I chose them because I read that they are in season from August to October.
