I have a strong feeling that my birth time is off by an hour, (my mom isn't always accurate) which would make me a Scorpio rising instead of Libra. I think most people see me as a Scorp, being a loner and quiet and intense and passionate about things, and I don't think these things exist in my chart elsewhere. Is there a way (I think it's called rectification) that I can find out for sure? Where do I go? What can I read? Is there anyone here that can do it for me? I have a few important dates in my life that could help I think. Thanks, Katee IP: Logged |

Hi Mary,I tried that site and it gave me my asc. as Scorpio, but I forgot about daylight savings, and then it went to Libra again. I don't know which it is. I mean, I'm hardly a Libra social butterfly, I don't go to parties, I don't have gobs of people around me (and I wouldn't want to), and I don't believe that I have any social charm whatsoever! I think I'm going to have to consult a professional! Thanks for your help, Katee IP: Logged |

Hi Katie A chart rectification is very time consuming. Yes you'd need to have a lot of important dates of things that have happened in your life.Is your time of birth on your birth certificate? I thought it was always recorded there in America. Sue IP: Logged |

My birth certificate is kind of unusual (maybe not really for a small town): just my full name, the town and state, and a seal. Not even my mother's name on it. Maybe I'm overlooking the Libran traits I have. I am quite bookish, overtly fair, and I do like to play Devil's advocate. Maybe there are other things in my chart that would be considered Scorpio like, but actually belong to another signs characteristics. (Listen to me now....trying to make up my mind, just like a Libra!! Maybe I know my answer after all!!) Well, if anyone wants to practice rectification, I'm willing to lend my info. Otherwise, I think I should stick with Libra, and keep my triple Venusian influence (I have Venus in Taurus also). Katee IP: Logged |

Hi Katee I think you'll really start to understand yourself and the planets in your chart as we work our way through the astrology course - which starts in 3 days time Maybe you're putting too much importance onto your ascendant. Don't forget the ascendant is "the mask we wear" when we first meet people. It's the "part we play" when we first enter a room full of people we don't know very well. Imagine an actor on stage playing a role. That's "very basically" what your ascendant does. The Ascendant is the doorway into a person, a good analogy being how a person behaves when they walk into a room full of strangers at a party. If the Ascendant is Scorpio but the Sun sign is Leo, that person will probably walk slowly around the room checking everyone out before alighting on the most attractive, amusing, rich, talented etc. person they can find and launching into their funniest joke. The Scorpio side needs to evaluate before being personally expressive. It's a harmony of both qualities. A former teacher of mine described the Sun as 'where we're going' and the Ascendant as the 'vehicle' to get us there - which seems a good alternative description. But like many things in astrology, this depends on circumstances. If the chart ruler (the planet ruling the Ascending sign) is strongly placed, then the Ascendant attributes will be much more prominent throughout the personality. If the Sun sign's ruler is strong, then this will hold sway. It's complicated!!! Sue IP: Logged |

I'm counting down the seconds to that astrology course! Of course, then I probably will never post any questions again, since I'll "know it all"!! Katee IP: Logged |
