Hi Joywalker, welcome!! Learning to trust your intuition without weighing the balance of logic and reason. If you trust your perceptions, your Sun will help to express them in a diplomatic and tactful method. Donna IP: Logged |

Hi Lost Leo,The chart ruler is simply the planet ruling the sign on the Ascendent, just as Lanny said, which I also believe to be true. So, your chart ruler would be Mars, having Aries on the Ascendent. Donna IP: Logged |

Your chart ruler can also be the Planet most prominent in your chart, despite which Planet rules your Ascendant. If Venus is a big theme elsewhere than the Asc, then She is the chart ruler. Yet absent that type of planetary presence, the chart ruler is usually considered the Planet ruling your Ascendant.BB, Carlo IP: Logged |

Hi Lost Leo,I used Koch Houses. Also, I used EDT and EST (wasn't certain if the time had been corrected for daylight savings time) and both came up with Aries Rising. I notice astro.com is set to automatically use Placidus Houses if you don't specify which House system. Linda used Equal Houses and that would explain the Taurus Rising because Koch system has Taurus intercepted in the First House, but with the Equal House, you are Taurus Rising. House systems are a matter of preference among astrologers and have been for years. Also, what Carlo said is true, but some astrologers would consider that planet being a Secondary Ruler of the chart, having prominent importance. Again, it all depends on preference, what teachers you had and what books you have read. That is the interesting thing about astrology, there are so many areas of consideration and each one works acording to the individual astrologer. Donna IP: Logged |

The chart ruler would be the ruling planet of your Ascendant. However, I also look to singletons as rulers of a chart.IP: Logged |

23 & DD,Have you heard of this...what's mentioned by Carlos/Donna? The chart ruler is the most predominant planet followed by the AC ruler? If the chart ruler is the AC ruler, then the predominant planet is the secondary ruler. How do you know which planet is the predominant? From the Pullen chart thing? 8th IP: Logged |

Hello 8th - my understanding of what is going on above is that the chart ruler is the ruling planet of the ascendant, for you it would be venus, for me mars.The "predominant" planet that they are talking about is the planet that has the greatest strength according to the Pullen analysis. To get that, go to astro.com: 1. Extended chart selection 2. Selecte "Pullen/Astrolog" under the methods section 3. Using the bar underneath "Pullen/Astrolog", select "Simple Chart Delineation by Walter Pullen", then press the button to execute. You'll then get the print-out of your chart. Scroll down 2/3 of the printout and you'll find some statistics. It should list two tables, one with power of each planet, the other the sign strength. Here is mine: Planet: Position Aspects Total Rank Percent Sun: 45.0 ( 6) + 19.8 ( 5) = 64.8 ( 5) / 9.7% Moon: 50.0 ( 2) + 10.9 ( 9) = 60.9 ( 7) / 9.1% Mercury: 50.0 ( 3) + 39.3 ( 1) = 89.3 ( 1) / 13.4% Venus: 50.0 ( 4) + 2.4 (10) = 52.4 ( 8) / 7.9% Mars: 47.0 ( 5) + 20.0 ( 4) = 67.0 ( 4) / 10.1% Jupiter: 45.0 ( 7) + 24.7 ( 3) = 69.7 ( 3) / 10.5% Saturn: 55.0 ( 1) + 27.1 ( 2) = 82.1 ( 2) / 12.3% Uranus: 45.0 ( 8) + 18.8 ( 6) = 63.8 ( 6) / 9.6% Neptune: 20.0 (11) + 14.5 ( 8) = 34.5 (10) / 5.2% Pluto: 32.0 ( 9) + 15.8 ( 7) = 47.8 ( 9) / 7.2% Chiron: 27.0 (10) + 0.0 (11) = 27.0 (11) / 4.1% Node: 7.0 (12) + 0.0 (12) = 7.0 (12) / 1.1% Total: 473.0 + 193.4 = 666.4 / 100.0% Sign: Power Rank Percent - Element Power Percent Aries: 77.3 ( 3) / 11.6% - Fire: 160.0 / 24.0% Taurus: 15.0 (12) / 2.2% - Earth: 96.7 / 14.5% Gemini: 65.3 ( 5) / 9.8% - Air: 248.1 / 37.2% Cancer: 66.8 ( 4) / 10.0% - Water: 161.7 / 24.3% Leo: 17.6 (11) / 2.6% Virgo: 27.9 (10) / 4.2% - Mode Power Percent Libra: 84.0 ( 2) / 12.6% - Cardinal: 281.8 / 42.3% Scorpio: 64.0 ( 7) / 9.6% - Fixed: 195.4 / 29.3% Sagittarius: 65.0 ( 6) / 9.8% - Mutuable: 189.1 / 28.4% Capricorn: 53.8 ( 8) / 8.1% Aquarius: 98.8 ( 1) / 14.8% Pisces: 30.9 ( 9) / 4.6% Total: 666.4 / 100.0% So my predominant planet is mercury.

According to Walter, my secondary ruler is Mars. What does that mean in terms of interpretation? Does it make it Mars more important for me in synastry? I guess it's obvious that it's a strong part of personality. My Mars is in Scorpio in my first...maybe in appearance as well? Hmmm... 8th IP: Logged |

Yes, well I guess it's important 8th - quite frankly, I don't pay much attention to my predominant planet. I'm sure it has some importance because it's powerful but I think the chart ruler is something you should be paying attention to.Lara - hello and good evening my fellow martian! No, I think you are confusing the depositor of my sun, ie uranus because I"m an aqu. The depositor is not necessarily the strongest planet. The pullen printout, if you follow the instructions above should give you your predominant planet. Otherwise, see the Aries AC appearance post... I think you are born with at the highest a 6 deg ASC, I need to add a bit more information about almuten but I'm running out of time and Mr 23 is demanding dinner. I might not see you til 'moro morn!
