Hello, friends. Sorry for posting here, but I couldn't post at the original topic "Jesus is Virgo...". Don't know what happened with my statement. So, I only want to say that the Bible itself shows when Jesus was born. Anyway, December 25th is a wrong date. I would say an imposible date.

what books did you read this about jesus's birthday in? I was watching this program on the life of jesus on the discovery channel which was trying to prove all of the story of his birth with the virgin mary, the place where he was born, the wise men, ect and it said that the date dec 25 of the year he was supposed to have been born had great astrological signifigance because certain planets were in a particular order, and that if the three wise men were real that they must have been astrologers to have known of his birth and what star to follow. It was really very intense how deeply they studued it, and i find it even more intriguing that some believe that this may have not even been the actual date of his birth.

Welcome Penny lane

As far as I know, neither the Church believes that 12/25 was the real birth-d of Jesus. They say that this date it's a symbolic date.
Jesus' date of birth is not a dogma that cannot be objecteded.
Here in this forum, there is a topic talking about this subject, " Jesus is Virgo...etc "

You´re close, Jaqueline.

The first step is to reject Dec 25th. It´s too easy to know how. When we read the Gospels, we see that date is completly wrong. And after reading the history we understand why that date has been accepted for many centuries.

December is a cold season in Israel. When Jesus is born, the angels appear to inform to the shepherds. Those men were "living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks AT NIGHT" (Luke 2:8). Would they be doing that at a cold night? No way.
The Bible doesn´t mention anything about a cold season, winter, snow, etc. And Jesus said that his followers had to appreciate the significance of his death, not of his birth day. That´s why the true date is not present in the Bible, but only the date he die in: Nisan 14th, during the first full moon of the year.

That date was taken by the church from the Roman´s pagan celebrations. Dec 25th was the date chosen by Romans to celebrate winter solstice, when orgies and indecent behaviors were quite popular. Therefore , that date does not honour Jesus.

Hello, Tuesday. Yes, I'm Cuban. I haven't seen your name before. Are you new here?

Jaqueline, you're always so nice. Thanks for answering Tuesday's question with that complement. I don't deserve it. And about the true date, I have to add that the "first ful moon of the year" means that according to the Jew calendar, of course. Nisan is the first month and it starts with the spring of northern hemisphere (from March to April in our calendar). Why do you say that the date isin the summer? Let me tell you that the exact day won't be found.

I have also heard that Christ was born in August making him either a Leo or Virgo.

December 25th is not Christ's birthday. The Church is in full realization of this. In order to "attract" pagan "converts" many Christian holidays were held on dates nearing the solstices. The winter solstice, or birthing of the SUN seemed ideal time to link in a holiday which celebrates the birthing of the SON. (As a side note, chopping down the Christmas tree symbolized the chopping down/destruction of the pagan symbol the tree. There are also many other "Christian" traditions that are pagan in origin. Supposedly the traditions were adopted to "smooth" the Pagans "converting" into Christianity.)Easter is also conveniently timed at the spring equinox. Not to mention the true symbolism of Easter eggs.... So now the new question is - when was Christ really crucified?

Hi, Kat. I like your statement about the origin of many celebrations the church calls "Christian". Many of them are pagan and were acepted by the church in order to make the religion look atractive for Romans and other people. You´re completly right about that.

However, Jesus´ death has a clear date in the Bible. Nisan 14th is an important date in the Book. We can read about many events to prove that date is right: He was arrested after celebrating the Passover with his disciples. The Passover is to celebrate when Israelites were liberated from Egypt, when they were slaves (Nisan 14th, Exodus 12); we also see that Jew leaders didn´t want to arrest him "during the Feast"; Jesus was "the Lamb of God", and his sacrifice was to liberate the humankind from the sin and death (John 1:29). So, Nisan 14th was the perfect date for that sacrifice.

By the way, Jesus was not crucified. The cross was taken from pagan traditions too, and it was a religious symbol even many centuries B.C. Some times the cross was a falic symbol, and that way the cross becomes a disrespectful symbol for true Christians.

Jesus was fixed on a vertical pole, with no crossbar for hands, but for the "writen charge against him" (Matthew 27:37). His hands were above his head, nailed together on the pole. The cross was an execution instrument used by Romans, not by Jews. Jesus had to die according to Jew law for criminals. The reason is a topic for other conversation, if you like.

It seems to me then to have a crucifix or a pole depiction of Jesus' death would both be phallic symbols.

Geez everywhere you go phallic symbols...

Thanks Bases Loaded
