I have decided I am going to undertake some study from home and have been wanting to a course in Councelling and could even progress it to Psychology. It is something I have been wanting to do and have been thinking about and researching for some time. It all feels right and now I am interested to see if anyone can look at my chart to see if this looks like a good direction for me to go in. The course is quite expensive but I am ready to commit to it and work hard. Do you think this looks like a good choice? Here are my details: planet sign degree house motion Sun Aries 26°41'19 07 direct Moon Sag 24°46'29 03 direct Merc Pisces 29°49'24 06 direct Venus Pisces 22°56'34 06 direct Mars Aries 07°57'24 06 direct Jupiter Cancer 29°46'47 10/11 direct Jupiter is technically near the end of house 10 and is interpreted in house 11. Hi RRR It's late here now and I'm off to bed but noticed no-one had replied to your post so I thought I'd just say hi What type of counselling interests you? I study Gestalt - which I love. Ideally I would like to qualifiy as a Gestalt Psychotherapist - but that takes 7 years before I get my MA practitioners license. There are quite a few aspects in my chart that point to the fact that I would be interested in therapy.....I also have aspects that show I would love astrology as well Sue IP: Logged |

Hi Sue I'm not sure what Gestalt is?? I want to get into youth work. I think teenagers need all the support and just to be listened to. I would like to set up my own business and try and get sponsorship so I don't have to charge a fee or anything. I have always dreamed of opening my own youth centre or youth crisis centre. Hi Ruby & Cat,I have never heard of this type of councelling before either Cat, but a councelling course is definately something that has interested me for a while too now. Ruby, who and where did you obtain this info to be able to study from home. Is there a phone number as I am in Australia also and would be interested in calling to find out more details Good Luck poops IP: Logged |

Hi RRR, Hi Poops Here's a link to the Gestalt Centre here in London. It's a very informative site. I know you're both in other countries but it explains Gestalt and the various courses - which I guess would be pretty similar everywhere. http://www.gestaltcentre.co.uk/home/welcome.html Plus here are some other links you may find interesting........ http://www.g-g.org/gestalt_bookmarks/ http://www.gestalt.org/ http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/gik_gestalt/gestalt_critique.html http://www.sonoma.edu/psychology/os2db/warmoth3.html http://www.sonoma.edu/users/w/warmotha/awhumpsy.html Sue

Thanks for the info Sue I will check out those links.Poops, the cheapest and probable best course is with the Australian institute of professional councellors. The course cost is $2,309 and you can pay that upfront or pay $129 per month for 21 months. It is Austudy approved so the government will pay you to study it and it is self paced!! so you do it in your own time. no I don't work in advertising for these people but I was really happy when I found out about the course because they don't have councelling at TAFE yet. All I need is to get my act together to save the $129 p/month and I can do it. Go to www.aipc.net.au Good luck with it poops and let me know how you go and what you decide !!! IP: Logged |

Hi RRR,I looked at your chart and one thing jumped out, it was your Moon/Neptune conjunction in Sag in the 3rd house. This indicates a marked sensitivity to suffering and the desire to do something about it. Hence, the interest in counseling. Then, having Gemini on the 9th is another strong indicator, as the 9th house rules counseling. Gemini of the mind, so to speak. Have you ever thought of counseling children? There is that maternal, caregiver call of the Cancer midheaven. Pisces on the 6th, indicates a love to penetrate the nebulous areas of the mind, with the Venus (love), Mercury (mind) and Mars (energy) placed there. Anyway, just my input. And I don't know enough about Gestalt, but I believe the use of intuition is important. Your Venus and Mercury in Pisces would lend itself to that very nicely. Donna IP: Logged |

Thank you so much Donna!! I appreciate your insight and now I feel 100% cnfident in what I want to do. Being a councellor is my second choice, my first being a mum but the time isn't right for that yet. Gestalt looks very interesting and I am actually going to look more into it and see if I can find more to do with it in Australia. Much Love and Light, Ally. IP: Logged |

Hi Everyone I'm glad you found the Gestalt info interesting. The psychotherapist who teaches the group I'm in has been practising for 25 years and has looked at many different therapy "techniques" but says she always comes back to Gestalt as it's very a powerful way of therapy.A very brief explanation is that Gestalt deals with what is here and now - what is happening in the present. Even though thing's from the past have undoubtly created the way we are now, Gestalt says that as it's happening "in the now" it can be dealt with "in the now". It's opens up your awareness by helping you to clear "the middle zone" ie: Think of a figure eight lying on it's side. In the circle on the left write "inner" and in the circle on the right, write outer. Where the figure 8 crosses between the 2 circles put a lot of "scribble" - that is the middle zone (sometimes called the chatter box etc). So when we try to bring something that is out of our awareness (inner) into our awareness (outer) it passes through our middle zone. Usually by the time it passes through that zone we end up with a "distorted" awareness because of our past "conditioning". Obviously it goes much deeper than I've mentioned above. You'll probably have read about Field - Figure & Ground and The Cycle of Experience/Awareness etc It's a fascinating subject and amazing how much we do that is "out of our awareness". Good luck with your studies Sue IP: Logged |

Hi Ruby, Sue and everyone else ,Just wanting to Thank-You Ruby, as I have enquired about this course and it seems right up my alley, so I'm probably joining up for it tomorrow! The price is hefty, but, I may be eligible for Austudy, or one of those, so I'm checking all this out at the moment. It's quite an exciting prospect to know that I will finally get some sort of a career happening, that involves doing what I love, and that's helping others to manage and better their lives, even if that's only through "understanding" them and being a good listener. This seems to have been a very reoccuring theme in my life anyway, it's just that it's taken me this many years to realise that's what comes natural to me. If anyone would like to take a peek at my chart,I'd love to hear your input. 18th Dec 1968 ( 4:45 am ) Melb..Australia. Thanks again Ruby poops IP: Logged |

I can't get my money to pay for the course untill July 1st The system is great isn't it? you don't get rewarded with your money until you've been unemployed for long enough pfft. I could be doing something constructive with my time for petes sake!!!IP: Logged |

What a drag!! I know, govt's have weird attitudes about the _when_ of funding re-training that could only benefit ALL... But maybe you can spend the time on another project -- or, perhaps this free time is an unanticipated "gift" to you. Is there any way you can use the time to contact people in your community who are doing the work you think you'd like to do? Maybe you can have informational interviews with them, or volunteer. That way everybody wins. Lunargirl IP: Logged |
