Hi fishy,

Health is ruled by the Sun, Mercury, the first and 6th houses.

Primarily, I look to the ruler of the 6th and any planets there and the aspects to them and the ruler.

Jaya Jaganatha!!!

Health?

The ascendant , its lord gives the picture of the physical features!

6th house and its lord - Diseases!

12th house & lord -- again diseases

2nd and 7th house and lords - Death timing.

8th house and lord - TYPE OF DEATH!

Position of moon - indicates type of mind.

Position of sun - EGO!

but in general the strenght of planets has to be taken and then predicted regarding health etc...

Greetings...

I know this question was addressed to Donna, but I couldn't resist putting in my 2 cents, as medical astrology has long been an interest of mine.

The Ascendant and it's RULER govern HEALTH and physical appearance in traditional or classical western astrology. The Sun and Mars show your metabolism.

The 6th House is commonly mis-perceived as HEALTH when in fact it is SICKNESS (read disease). In the natural wheel, or in the Equal House System... the 6th House is in an INCONJUNCT or 150 degree aspect to the Ascendant (health and the Physical body)... this is an aspect of IRRITATION. It requires adjustment. You will also note that the 8th House of Death (and surgery) is also in a 150 degree Inconjunct aspect to the Ascendant (again in the natural wheel or the Equal House System). This implies that if a stressful or irritating condition (6th House of sickness) is not brought into balance (7th House - also the traditional house of "the physician") it may require surgical intervention or can be ONE indicator of POTENTIAL death (8th House).

Hope that helps some.

Blessings...
A

Hi Samarth,

In Western Astrology, the 12th house indicates serious illness.

Hi Aselzion,

I use Rex Bills The Rulership Book and it has never failed me in regards to what rules what. But, yes, disease can be indicated by 6th house planets and aspects to same.

I have found a very reliable chart that not too many use. It was written about by Robert Carl Jansky and is called a South Nodal Chart. You place the South node on the first house as the degree of the Ascendent and the North node on the Descendent as the degree of the 7th house, all other houses are in equal degrees and follow the signs around. The ascendent represents the top of the head and the descendent represents the soles of the feet.

You then place your planets in the corresponding signs in the houses.
House 1 + 12 represent the head down to the collar bone

House 2 + 11 represent the collar bone down to the diaphragm, everything in the chest

House 3 + 10 represent the stomach, upper
small intestine, liver, spleen and pancreas, extending down to an imaginary line through the kundalini point just below the navel.

House 4 + 9 reresent the lower abdoman, rectum, kidneys, bladder, large intestine and organs of reproduciton, and the hips

House 5 + 8 represent the buttocks and upper legs, extending down to an imaginary line drawn through the center of each knee cap.

House 6 + 7 represent the lower legs and feet.

The houses 1 thru 6 represent the right side of the body.

The houses 7 thru 12 represent the left side of the body.

The center of the chart wheel does not represent the navel, but rather the Oriental word called the kundalini point, the point of connection between the physical and etheric bodies. They say this is the point Buddha contemplated and not his navel during meditation.

Oh, one thing interesting, there is a left handed signature in a South Nodal chart which indicates the person who will be left handed. It is the Sun above the horizen and 6 other planets in houses 6 thru 12, the left side of the chart.

This information came from a holistic. homeopathic Doctor in England and he taught it to Jansky. It works. It surprises me that so few use it.

The planets are not in their traditional rulerships of various portions of the body, but they do follow certain principles based on their essences. Here are some principles.

Sun - vitality, well-being, focus of attention

Moon - non-glandular bodily fluids, fluid retention, fluctuation of condition

Mercury - agility of that bodily portion, mental outlook on condition in that region, "nerves"

Venus - where one is most inclined to beautify (via ornamentation, makeup, etc. even when one is ill), *may* show areas venereal conditions wind up affecting, possibly the endocrine system

Mars - blood, inflammation of a febrile or acute nature, fevers, infections Jupiter - expansion of bodily part or condition, and with Mars, where one overdoes matters.

Saturn - constriction, limitation, skeleton, stone formation, possibly arthritis

Uranus - muscle spasms, cramps, electrical impulses, nervous system

Neptune - poisoning, toxicity, conditions of unknown or undetected origins, chronic or lymphatic fevers, glandular fluids, possibly substance abuse

Pluto - where located, shows area of greatest transformation, conditions originating on cellular and DNA levels, the most hidden conditions that take years to develop, *possibly* benign or malignant conditions

It is very helpful to look at transits, aspects are important!

Hello again Donna...

As ever you are a muse!

I have heard of Jansky's work.. actually have two or three of his books kicking around on the shelves.

If you use any of the "mainstream astrology software" Like Janus, Solar Fire, Win*Star or Kepler.. they are allowing Planets and Nodes to be placed on the Ascendant and doing Equal Houses from there I believe.

I actually have Linda's favorite Medical Astrology Book, Dr. William Davidson's "Lectures on Medical Astrology". It's great, as is Darling's book on Medical Astrology called "Essentials of Medical Astrology".

I'm not sure if Davidson is still available, but if not, I may try to get it out there again in some form. His stuff is the most accurate I have ever come across, and I am in complete agreement with his teaching that the SIGNS rule the ANATOMY and the PLANETS rule the Functioning.

Peace and Light...

Hi Aselzion,

I wish I had those books, I have searched for the Davidson one. I have Nauman, Jansky and Dr. Bruce Cornell (Medical Astrology Encyclopedia).

Oh by the way, I neglected to mention that I love for others to answer questions, so I am glad you took the time.

Well, I don't know about being a Muse, ha ha, but I have been nicknamed "The Librarian" by a friend because of my collection and love of books.

OK, just scanned in my South Nodal chart from Jansky's book. I do use Win*Star and they have a neat technique that I used to use, placing a "point" such as South Node, or any choice on the ascendent and creating a chart.

Let's see if I can pull this up....

Donna
