well, most major freebie sites like yahoo/geocities have a kind of template you can use, although i'd imagine you'd want something slightly more finished than this.Microsoft Frontpage is easy to use for a basic site, or failing that try to grab a copy of Macromedia Dreamweaver, which is far more powerful. If you dont particularly want to have to fiddle around with learning HTML software then you could try contact a web design firm. Generally the way you'll construct your site depends on what you want it to look like and what functions you'll need. IP: Logged |

hi lanny, you may laugh at this, but for me . . . the easiest way is to have someone else do it . . . i don't know how savvy you want to get. you could buy your own/lease site address, say from VeriSign, Inc., rent server space from a company and use web page designing software to construct the site. good luck, aphrodite IP: Logged |

I prefer hard-coding my html through plain-text editors rather that WYSIWYG. Have more control over how stuff are placed.I'll give you a tip. Designing a web page is similar to creating a PowerPoint presentation, except you can jump from page to page. Of course how to exactly go about it is different, but the mindset is the same. Treat your website as you would a PowerPoint presentation for something (like a corporate presentation, for example), and you'll have a good idea of what it'll look like. If you wanna learn html http://earthweb.htmlgoodies.com is a very good tutorial site. And it's in plain english, not technobabble. Hope this helps. IP: Logged |

If you don't want to go through learning script, there're some really decent HTML editors out there - they won't give you anything really fancy, but your end-product can be a notch above decent.IP: Logged |

Lanny -- you can design a simple, several-page web-page using MS Word 2000. Go to File, New, then select the "Web Page" tab for type of document and use the Web Page Wizard to design your layout. If you're reasonably proficient in MS Word, it's easy to use.Once you've got your web page designed, you'll need to upload it to whereever it's to be hosted. You'll have to upload using File Transfer Protocol ("FTP"). If you go to zdnet.com, and download a program called "Cute FTP," which is free, you will be able to upload your page to the Web. Cute FTP is VERY easy to use -- just follow the instructions. Good luck! If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me (I believe you have my e-mail address). Francine IP: Logged | |
