What happens when you have a Saturn return?
When do they occur?

the (in)famous "mid life crisis" is supposed to be linked to a saturn return, although it's my beleif things are always more involved and integrated than that.

Does it mean that transitting Saturn conjucts your natal Saturn?

So your Saturn issues are thrusted to the forefront where they begin insisting on being resolved?

Yes, when transiting Saturn conjuncts the natal Saturn.

So your Saturn issues are thrusted to the forefront where they begin insisting on being resolved?

May be, not exactly Saturn issues. Different for everybody. Some insignia examples into adulthood souls choose are: Marriage, Divorce, Career establishment, Children, Education, Soul purpose, Sexuality, and many others.

Some do not complete their mission during the return, it can happen years after.

Best,

Aphrodite

The Saturn return associated with Midlife crisis is the second one, around 56 years of age. Most of us experience at least two and sometimes three returns during our life.

The normal description of the Saturn return is:

This is one of the most important times in your life, the closing of one cycle and the starting of a whole new cycle. Great changes are about to occur. How great they will be depend upon what you have been doing with your life over the last several years. If you have been true to your self, the impact will be less, if you have tried to live to meet others expectations, it could get bumpy.

In the previous year, many things have began to change in your life. You have reacted to a feeling that if you don’t do the things that you have wanted to do, soon it will be too late. You will certainly evaluate your intimate relationships to see if they are fulfilling your needs or not. Certainly, changes will have to take place, may be even breaking up. Consciously or unconsciously you are pruning your life of those things that are not relevant for the next period of your life. As they say, "Now is the time to cut bait or fish". The better you handle it now, the better it will be for you in the future.

My 2 cents

Lioneye - natal Saturn lends restrictions in a chart from birth, except that then we're too tiny to be able to have much control or choices to change anything - meanwhile the planet Saturn moves on around the rest of our charts, spending about 2 1/2 years in each sign, teaching us lessons, until it returns at about age 29 1/2 to pass over the natal position and House - to finally reawaken our natal Saturnian conflict and challenge us to solve it. I think it's a really neat system for a soul to learn synthesis.

Technically, after Saturn has made one pass (conjunction) over the natal Saturn position, it may also turn retrograde, and make another pass as it goes direct. Talk about driving the lessons home with an steamroller, which then backs up, and does it again. But if you've prepared, then it's more like grinning while riding a bronco-- the grimaces are barely visible.

As far as I've been told, even though Saturn Returns happen once every 29 1/2 years, the influence of the first Saturn Return (for example) can be felt as early for some people as 28 and 1/2 years old. Or, its influence can begin later, and last up until about 30 and 1/2.

For mine I went back to school as a mature student and got my bachelor's degree. I think I got away with only one pass from ol' Saturn.
