Hello,

I am wondering what the implications are for a planet conjuncting a house cusp. For example if there is a planet in the 6th house (say 2 degrees into the 6th), then that means it conjunts the 5th house right? So would that mean that the planet in the 6th house would also acquire qualities of the 5th house??

Hello Shaun,

Thanks for replying. So lemme see if i understand you correctly...if a planet is even 1 degree into another house, it is interpreted to be in that house but it can ALSO acquire qualities of the house it conjuncts right? So in the example i gave of the sun being 2 degrees in the 6th house, it would be interpreted as Sun in the 6th house but that Sun would also have minor qualities of the 5th house since it is only 2 degrees away from the 5th (conjuncts) right?

shaun, how about if the planet is 0 degrees only into the sign? does a 0 degree hold a particular significance? i got it with both my sun and moon.

In my opinion, a planet takes on the characteristics of a sign in an overlapping bell curve. In other words, a planet at 1 degree illustrates the characteristics of the old sign to some extent, and the beginings of the new sign. In other words, a mixture of the two energies.

I believe that one exhibits the truest characteristics of a sign at around 10 to 20 degrees of the sign.

This of course is only my opinion, so take it for what its worth.

Thanks Shaun! But i think Lanny might be right, it just makes more sense to me for the energies to blend since they are so close. But i could be wrong.

I have also been told if the planet is in 0.0.1 degrees than it's in the next sign, but what is the significance of a planet at 0.0.0 degrees in itself? There is a particular meaning,

There is one but I can't find the link to it anywhere.

I have been looking at charts and I know that even if Uranus is in libra at 0.0.1 degree, it's in libra, not virgo. The reason I know is because attraction to another is determined in a large part, by positive aspects from Uranus to the moon of the partner and the ascendant. The house Uranus is in and how it aspects Venus is very important too.

I know this because I was instantly attracted to my husband who moon and ascendant are air, and I am instantly turned off by anyone with earth ascendant or moon. Not as a friend but sexually.
If my Uranus was Virgo that would not be the case. A friend of mine with Moon in Virgo recently married a girl with Uranus in Virgo and it's right on the cusp.

That leads me to believe the no cusp theory. I do not know about blending of energies, there may be true, but if it does that changes every chart.

Now the house issue is another. The term intercepting, does not mean much to me. My Venus is "on the cusp" between 4/5 house, but I feel it's 4th house, not 4th house intercepting the 5th as Astro.com says.

My hubby has Venus in the fifth and we are very different in the kinds of things we collect and the way we decorate, I mean he is very grand and I am more simplistic and soft. The cusp theory does not work in these cases, but I am willing to listen. I like the idea of the blending within 10 degrees but wouldn't that be too confusing? Charts would have to be re-read.

thanks for the replies!

was wondering because i notice i have more than my fair share of 'scorpionism' though i'm 0 degrees sag. but then again, maybe that has to do with my ascendant which is scorpio?

but my moon is totally, totally arien. nothing piscean (the sign before) about it.
