Questions about twins, both normal and identical. How come both twins are born same place, same date and very close timing - however, many a times, both of them share very different character? People, please pardon me a little for the sudden burst of questions in here. Afterall I am just a newbie. =P IP: Logged |

I'm not sure of the astrological reason - maybe the 10mins or so has a bigger effect than you'd think, but study's have shown that identical twins brought up apart are very similar in traits such as I.Q. etcMaybe when you are brought up together something else takes over. most twins would probably get really sick of being told how alike they are and therefore try to develop their individuality by being different. hopefully someone else can give you the astrological reasoning. Being a faternal twin, I've wondered the same thing. In my case I'm 23 minutes older than my brother. We are different in most ways, but a like in others. He is an extrovert, while I am an introvert. We both ended up teaching, he in High School, me in Community colleges. When I look at his chart, he has a couple of planets in different houses, but other than that, we have pretty much the same locations. Why we differ I think is the result to two things; socialization (he was always much bigger than me and so was a jock in HS and college leading to different experiences), and Free choice ( he made different decisions in his life). Just my 2 cents Lanny IP: Logged |

A planet probably changed signs, or the sign on the horizon changed inbetween the wait. Transits are also an important part to look at with the natal chart's angles.IP: Logged |

Not to worry, Monk, no pardon for asking questions! How else can we all learn? I think the case for personality differences in fraternal twins is more clear cut on a biological level than for identical ones. After all, coming from different egg/sperm combinations entails different inheritance of genetic material, including recessive genes. With identical twins, it seems that those separated at birth and reunited later, as in adoption, show the greatest similarity in personality -- they've had the chance to grow up as only themselves, not competing with a genetic identical twin for the same limited resources (attention, love, toys, etc.!). It must have a lot to do with the competition factor within the family and environment. I think that we're all born with a certain disposition and personality, and while we can develop and change our personality to a degree, our character comes from choices. And these are as different between twins as between anybody else. IMHO! Lunargirl IP: Logged |

Also even with identical twins, one twin is usually stronger and manages to get a larger share of nourishment before birth which causes him/her to have a higher birth rate. Usually this twin has a more aggressive personality while the other one is more passive.IP: Logged |

I agree with Illog and Lunargirl, about how it is our choices that make us who we are, not astrology. Twins who are born at the same exact place and time may have the same energies flowing through them, and the same tendencies, but would choose to assert their individualities by making different choices.IP: Logged |
