In the natal chart, that is. Someone had mentioned something about looking for your parents' "signature" (?) in your chart to confirm your ascendant.

Where do we look for that?

I dunno - my dad's a huge honking Saturn Square to my Sun.

Sun - 5th;
Saturn...der, don't mind me...Neptune's the Square, the Saturn's the Opposition...in the 11th, only a few minutes away from being an exact opposition.

But I don't know if that actually means anything.
I mean, besides having a really fun t-square going on.

What's his rising sign ? Oh yeah, Virgo! Where's Virgo in your chart? I guess it would be in the 10th. Your Mid-Heaven. Hmmm. Interesting. I think that's where he's suppose to be.

That's where it gets interesting:
My Saturn & Jupiter are both in Virgo
(the former in the 11th, the latter in the 10th) -
but my Saturn's at 23d, and his that's around where his Rising is, too.

As far as my Mom goes (if you just want to know chart correlations):
We're both Pisces of about the same degree, we both have a 1st House Uranus, and an otherwise oddly similar "big three" as well (me: Pisces/Aqua/Scorp, she: Pisces/Sag/Cancer).

For my Sis -
She's a Virgo/Scorp/Aqua who's Asc. roughly matches up w/ my Mom's Aqua Merc, Sun (in the 7th)_almost exactly_ matches up w/ my Pop's Asc (w/ her Virgo Merc not far off), Virgo Mars very nearly exactly matches his Virgo Mars (in the 7th & 12th, respectively), & 12th Aqua Jupiter matches up w/ my Mom's Aqua Venus. My Mom & her have the same Scorpionic Saturn (in the 5th & 9th Houses).

For my bro -
His 12th House Cancer Sun roughly conjucts my Pop's 10th House Cancer Moon as well as my Mom's Cancer Asc, Uranus, & Jupiter.

Nope - My Mid-Heaven's Leo. (Placidus - 11°37'46, Koch - 11'38'', Equal - 11'38''; my NN & Mars are both at 29' Leo).

That's another interesting thing:
I have the above,
my sis has Venus in Leo @ 24d,
and my bro has his Asc & Mars in early degree Leo -
but the only placement in my 'rents in Leo is my Pop's very early degree Leonine South Node (in the 11th).
(Oh, wait - there's another correlation - my Pop's 5th House NN is conj. my 3rd House Moon.)

HA!

And, if you want to look @ the t-square involving my sun *another* way:

My Mom's a Fish (Neptune)
My Pop's my Saturn (in Virgo)
Tightly square each other, and, respectively, squared and opposed me (my Sun)!
Too funny (yet eerily accurate).

I bet all of our families are interlinked that way. I'm wishing I had all my family's charts out in front of me so I could see how we mesh.
But your suppose to be able to see your mom in the 4th and your dad in the 10th, or it could also be the other way around if the mom was the more dominant parent.
Siblings are 3rd house subjects, but the contacts your family has going on, I would think you guys are all in all, a pretty friendly and jovial group. More like buddies? Of course, I'm sure there's the "Hall of Shame" moments like any family has, but mostly warm fuzzy stuff! At least I would think, with all the Venus-Mercury-Ascendant-Jupiter action going on.

Yeah, astro.com - that's where all my info's stored.

We're buddy-buddy, if anything. I'm definitely more of a friend than a daughter to my Mom. I cried over a break-up last year in front of her, and she had no earthly idea what to do (but, then, I don't exactly readily show emotion); my little Cancer bro's my bud - he's one of the few, the proud, the people who will watch a movie umpteen million times and sing along to oldies in the car with me. My sister & I *try* to get along, but we usu. either love each other or are at one another's throats (yea, Virgo/Pisces opp).
My Pop.
Yeah.
I like him; I love him as my father. He tries. He really does.
(For further info, see everything that Liz Greene has written about Sun sq. Saturn; my Sis has some fun Saturn aspects going on, too - including Sat sq Venus...although both she & my bro have "soft" aspects between that & their Suns).

Re: interlinking in families:
There seem to be very definite general trends that pop-up, too.
On both sides of mine (looking back to my Grandparents, and Gr. Grand-Parents on my Mom's), there's a predominance of Water & Earth (esp. Virgo & Scorpio); when Fire & Air pop-up, they're usually fixed (Leo & Aqua) w/ some Saggie thrown in the mix for good measure.
And what general vocations can be seen in my Mom's line (you ask):
Healers (esp. herbal & "native" medicine way back w/ my Mom's side), Builders (construction on one & architecture on the the other), and Teachers (several profs & a few h.s. instructors) - seems apt given the general elemental/modal tones.

What patterns do you see in your family?

P.S. I apologize for writing so much...kinda hyper tonight

That's ok, Proxieme...I'm glad you're so inspired by Astrology! I think you have it in you to be a world class astrologer one day. Perfect blend of cerebral & intuitive.

Hi, Shaun!
Yeah, I was wondering why you hadn't popped in lately. Usual craziness around here. I didn't get an email from you at my Lycos address. That email is a piece of you-know-what if you ask me. It could be hung up somewhere in cyber la-la land for days. When did you send it?
Would you feel like copying and pasting it here, oh so kind and patient one?
I don't mind. I don't think anyone would pay much attention to it anyway. If they did, hey, that's ok with me.
How've you been? What's been keeping you away?

Shaun, thank you! You're so kind! (gosh darn it all to heck!) You know, it's funny that you're popping into today, because I just so happened to go to my obgyn last week to confirm some of those dates, and I have done so.
The first surgery was on *May 13, 1997 (weird, hey? exactly same date as my daughter's bday - must be some sort of May/4th house deal going on there, hey?)

The second one was *May 23, 2000 (?!) Again with the May thing, eh?)

And this year, on May 29th, I had just a run-of-the-mill check up.

Hmm. And I always seem to move or get a new job in February. I just so happen to have moon in Aquarius. Could that have something to do with it?

Shaun, so sorry to hear about your cousin.

Good topic, Lioneye. I'm adopted and I'll be watching this thread with interest, because I've never been able to discover whether an adoptee's chart typically reflects the adopting family, birthfamily, or foster family -- I've had all three!!

Lunargirl, I bet ALL of them are represented in your chart somehow. Who do you feel closest to as a mom? How about as a Dad? What signs & asc. are they? Where do they land in YOUR astro pie?

Thanks, Lioneye.

It's very complex, the situation and question. But given *all* these parents, what would be the *signature* in an adoptee's chart to confirm an ascendant? Your original question?

Clover:
Definately! But her sun also falls in your 10th house, which is right where the dominant parent SHOULD be. I'm assuming that she was the dominant parent, being that she's a Scorp and all. Yes?

I am Taurus and also have the moon in the eighth and my mother is a scorp. My grandfather (a Cappy) had the moon in the eighth and a Scorp mom and Scorp wife, my grandmother. She had a 4th house sun, aries 5th house moon, and a Taurus mom. my dad was an aqua with aqua moon. Almost all siblings (adopted or not) have 6th house or 8th house suns. A recurring theme is 6th house placements, what karma, all sixth house suns.
