Hi guys and dolls!

Tuesday started a topic about clothing, I would like to follow her footsteps and ask you:" how do you like to decorate your house?" What colours, designs, modern, classic etc..
I was always very much into decorating myself and very English orientated (past lifes).
Today I was just replying on the Venus in Leo thread in the Free astrology course how I would like my new home decorated simple and empty (minimalism). Only natural products like definitely a wooden floor and concrete and aluminum ascesoires. I lóve metal and aluminum. It must be like you come home and you come in a peaceful inviroment. You sit on the couch and you feel yourself BEing and totally come at ease. There is nothing that distracts you. You can totally relax.
I cannnot wait and move into a new home again. I love moving!
The basic colours (if I may choose) would be beige/white/brown and this way you can add colours whenever. If the mood says BLUE you can add some blue if it says purple then purple it is! But, I'd rather not have too many colours. I would really like it to be simplistic!
My current home has a lot of purple in it. For instance I have a velvet purple (very Leo) couch and a fourties sideboard. It looks very tasteful but I wouldn't even mind to give it all away! I am never at home anymore and I am so glad I found out I ám sort of a nomad. I guess I already knew that as I sort of started over twice. Sold all my stuff and moved to Finland for instance.
And then...they say I am a Cancer ! Ok, ok my IC is in Sag!

I am looking forward to your stories!

Hi Mercy,

I'm a double Cap with a Scorpio moon. My place is mainly cream colored with lots of gold. The theme is celestial and Egypt. I have the sun, moon and stars on all kinds of things. I collect pyramids and have some beautiful paintings of the pyramids and the Egyptian gods/godesses.

I also have a huge collection of metaphysical books. I collect really old astrology books.

I guess my place goes well with the traditional Capricorn love of old things and ancient cultures.

Love and Light,

Heidi

oooh mercy! and i mean that literally!

i have been thinking about this for awhile. as a libra, i feel just ugly when im in ugly surroundings. its awful! feel sorry for me

right now my place doesnt look like i want it to look, and and i cant run out and buy anything to change it. i dont bother to decorate because i dont know if i will stay here, i dont know if this is 'home' yet. i dont want to stay here, cause i live in a bad building in a bad neighbourhood.

anyway though, i love lots of different things. i love antique wood furniture, i love WATER!! and fish, i would love to have an indoor fountain! a real one, not a store bought one! i love wooden floors with nice soft area rugs, some rooms would be light colours, others would be more vibrant but always blue, green, burgundy, more like jewel tones. i would have lots of things hanging, lots of plants, heavy curtains to keep the baddies out of my business, and no brash colours like orange! not much brown either, enough of that with the furniture.

there would be lots of twinkling lights, and fresh flowers all the time... ooh id have some temple bells hanging somewhere, and all the clutter would be away behind pretty furniture! i actually drew a house plan of my ultimate dream house. id have theme rooms, just cause im crazy like that! you could come stay in the Egyptian bedroom, and we could eat in the ancient Greece dining room, built in honor of poseidon, sit in the victorian library, and have a drink in the old west bar!

my living room would be spectacular. no specific design, but it would be round, and it would have a glass top, like um... how to i describe... like a lid to a pot only with etched glass! id better start makin money so i can pay for all this, lol!

Taurus, Cancer Moon, Venus in Aries, Mars in Sag-I have lots of Gold and Cream too, the walls in most rooms are ragged off creams and taupes, with old gold accents and cocoa and burgundy shades. I like chocolate and pink together too. One room is blue with brass accents and it's nice but a little bold. Other rooms are biscuit creamy yellow with dark wood furniture and lots of antiques. I try to find unique ways to use old furniture but I like a clean room, no clutter and hardwood floors and lots of light. I saw an art deco enameled wood stove once, in bright blue, I would love to create a faux fireplace setting with a mantel over the stove.

Wood shutters or sheers on the walls. A garden outside the window. Lots of music. I would like one room in pale icy blue with silver accents but haven't gotten around to it.

...you people! Where shall I start!?

Anafaery! Move your @zz and start making that money ! Yeah, it's always so nice to have the wildest ideas but then the money ship never arrives !
Do you know those big windows with see through white curtains? Next to the sea? Aaaaw!! Then the wind (my favourite element) blows the curtains softly and breezes in the room touches your face while you sit on a soft and hairy white carpet (dressed in white too)!
And I forgot ONE big thing. I really would like to have a (how do you call them??) living kitchen! Know theM? They are awesome! Then áll the friends we have (gosh I am hilarious ) can come by and drink a cup of something in the kitchen until darkness shows and I lit a few candles and the fireplace which is situated in the middle!

Anafaery! I have my kitchen walls orange....you like???! I used to have a lot of colours in my house and I wanted to make theme rooms as well and a fluffy hugwall (yammie). Now....all I want is minimalism and no extra stuff! Just the necessary tools to work with; A spoon, a bed, a kitchen and a couch!

Heidi? Did you ever experiment with pyramids? I mean laying a piece of food under it to see if it stays longer fresh? Would be cool! But then the messurements have to be exact!
1Scorp? What in Gods name is a stressed item? I know it in words but in items?? And oak floors are super!
Sthenri, Art deco can be wonderful! I used to be attracted (and still am) to 40's style!

Wow, gotta go (for now)
Thanx for all your wonderful Venusian words!

My IC and moon are in Capricorn but my decorating tastes are totally Gemini. I really like yellow and blue and when I get my own apartment I'm going to use those colors. Also light, breezy colors, and lots of celestial/astrological stuff. I also like to put up art and novelty pieces; the other day I found a ladies room sign at a yard sale for 25 cents, it's not on my wall! Some of my paintings and drawings are up there too. Everything has to be unusual somehow. Also, there are lots of magazines and books around (typical Gemini) I have a feeling my apartment will give some people vertigo!

I think it's cool how the astrological influences show up in decor, and I think my Gem Sun/Scorp Moon/Pisces Rising are reflected in my tastes. While I can't afford to have my home just the way I want it, I do what I can to add beauty because I too, cannot stand to be in an unattractive environment (Venus in Taurus).

Most important...lots of light everywhere. I have many windows with only a minimum of treatments; sheer or lace-type valances to allow the maximum of sunlight in. My house is filled with soft pastels...blues, greens, pinks. I like crafting, so there are floral wreaths, needlepoint, hooked rugs, crocheted or knitted afghans and throws scattered throughout. My bedroom has white "Christmas lights" interspersed among the two bookshelves, where I keep all my metaphysical books (well, I have books everywhere, lol) and I have a growing collection of celestial objects there too.

I like to decorate "seasonally" in my living room and kitchen, so in the fall I accessorize with fall colors, winter the hunter greens, spring and summer light yellows, sky blues, various shades of pink and green, etc.

Bottom line...I like my home to have the look and feel of nature brought inside year-round. Light and airy is the rule, with just enough deeper color and texture to add warmth, interest and grounding. Oh! And lots of scented candles and plants everywhere!

Sun Sag / Moon Aries / Rising Virgo

My bedroom is kind of shown in the pictures of me on the lindaland photo page. I like big comfortable beds with quilts and beautiful pictures / paintings. My living room is more Southwest, with Navajo Sandpaintings, Katsina dolls (or Kachina), a large handmade Mandala over the fireplace and two large bookcases and I have a large desert landscape painting over my sofa.

I love dark wood tables which is what my dining room table / china cabinet is like and in that room I have more Indian paintings and a painting my wonderful Aquarian artist friend made of a cello player in Austria.

My Bedroom is full of dark wood and rich mauves / blues and gold. Same with my bathroom. I love maroon and have to have a bedroom that feels comfortable and queenly.

My spare bedroom has a guest bed, more of an Indian / Cowboy motiff and my office is in there as well. The bathroom is a seascape with shells, paintings and other things to remind me of the ocean.

I also have many plants (fake - because my cats think they are salads) and silk flowers that I arrange in vases with seashells and colored glass beads. It is very homey, yet elegant.

I love a homes that says 'Welcome....but don't stay too long" LOL.....you know..that whole freedom thing!

Perhaps off topic, but relates to home

I would like to live in a converted warehouse. A huge open space and a whole wall of windows. I'd like to have a ceiling projector so the whole floor converts into a home theater. A gourmet kitchen with stainless steel, professional grade goodies. The roof, I'd like to be the Hanging Gardens of Babylon---one King Nebuchadnezzar would be proud of.

I would also create a whole underground cellar for my occult studies.

Aphrodite,

That sounds beautiful, especially the space and lighting. I remember in Flashdance that she had converted a warehouse into a place to live and I thought it was pretty awesome.

I would like have a house on lots of land so that I could have my horse, dogs, cats and SPACE!!! For now, I just have cats and an apartment.

I like the feel of a jungle with lots of lushious big plants such as majestic palms and elephant ears, and I like earth tones ranging from goldy ochre to chocolate brown. I accent with black and gold (not brassy gold). A punch of animal print fabric blends nicely with this. I also like exotic flavors of all kinds, so my living room is kind of an African/Asian/Greek fusion, against the back drop of a lushious jungle. Love wall-wash paint treatments and sumptious drapery fabrics.
A variety of textures, earthy colors, greenery and some sparkle here and there make for a room fit for a king, or queen!

Aphrodite, I actually did live in a renovated warehouse with the light and wood floors, the description is very much the same. After a while it felt too cold, especially to visitors. I retreated a lot to a soft butter painted room with dark furniture and lots of light.

I love the jungle motif too.

I am leo Sun, Pices moon, ascendant and jupiter:

this topic was made for me, I'm currently dong a cosmetic rehab on the 1920's rowhouse I just bought in Baltimore City!!!

I have a mixture of plaster and sheetrock walls throughout the whole house..I really really like the look of plaster. I'm painting the walls a color called "vanilla custard", the trim color is called "pot of cream", the house has the wide molding at the floor and the original woodwork around the kitchen door that will also be painted in "pot of cream". I have a Duncan Phiphe circa 1940's dinning room set...the table has 2 pedastals that come down and branch out into 3 feet on each side (hard to explain) I like the shabby chic look.

I plan on getting a red couch and chair in a somewhat contemporary style...an antique floor lamp..one end table and table lamp and a coffee table. I don't like clutter but I like style and I like to play with color.

I painted my family room tape on 2 conecting walls and a color called "calk" on the oposing 2 connecting walls...going to get a nice berber installed called mushroom brown...it has a diamond pattern and deep eggplant knots at the points of each diamond....a sofa bed and entertainment center at ikea...simple contempo style. I have a bunch of other antique furniture...2 antique cedar chests and an antique cedar wardrobe.

My bedroom is going to be a color called "chamembert" which is an off white with a deep red trim called "red red wine"...I have a cherry wardrobe and langerie chest and I'm going to buy a rought iron bed frame at ikea...bed linens and comforter will all be white, throws will be red, white and cream....with cream colored plush carpet.

The main bathroom has stroped wallpaper in deep tones of green and burgundy with a chell patteren around the middle...there's a skylight in the bathroom so it lets in a lot of light during the day. i'll probably remodel this at some point since I'm not a fan of wall paper and I want to take advantage of all the natural light and paint the bathroom in maybe a blue tone with a contrasting blue trim..I want to search the antique stores in town for a smaller chest of droors that the top could be but off of or a hole cut into to drop a sink in there...I eventually want to put a polished marble floor in there too.

all in time.

well I'm Aries sun with Leo Rising, Aquarius moon.

Right now the apartment is a total discombobulated MESS. My husband is a packrat and won't throw anything away *shhhh*

The *PLAN* is to decorate the living room with an Asian theme but that's because that's all we could agree on. If it were just me... the whole apartment would be a Celtic fairy wonderland

The bedroom now is decorated in blues and golds with an astral, sun, moon, star theme. My bathroom is a cherub/angel theme with lots of purple

financechick, I refinish antiques all the time and I can tell you it's hard now to find an antique piece to put a sink into, have you thought about Ikea for that? You can get a antique looking sink there, and an unfinished one too. I went through that entire job but had to quit it. Plus antique chest of drawers are not cheap anymore. Wallpaper can be stripped easily with some rags soaked in hot water to make it softer, and you do need someone with strong muscles to that for hours. It's well worth it, can't stand wallpaper myself.

WychOfAvalon, we have the same taste! My spare bath is done in that gold and blue celestial theme. I have a ceramic sun and a ceramic moon hanging in there, as well as a distressed, gold-leafed wooden framed mirror opposite the counter-to-ceiling mirror on the sink side, and Royal-to-Navy Blue fuzzy bathroom rug thingies to boot! (as long as the seat stays up, guys are ok with them )

That is similar!! I love the celestial theme Really makes me happy!!

but I do really have a split personality that's hard to come to grips with sometimes. I don't know where that shows up in my chart... there's the part that loves the celestial/cherub/farie stuff. And then there's the part that wants to make everything black with skulls and candleabras everywhere, black velvet pillows, Giger paintings on the walls...

ARGH!!!!! I have two people in my head ARGH!
