Super Bull,

I've never heard of anyone mentioning a Yod as being a negative configuration. It is also known as the "Finger of God". Why would you think it was negative?

Just wondering?

hi hrj777,
well the reason why i think of yod as a negetive configuration is that whenever it is spoken of, they say it sort of symbolises a 'debt'in the area where the finger points, which in my chart becomes the ascendent; also the finger points to the super agressive ,war-like MARS (which can symbolise accidents etc)thats the reason i am worried.

Yods are tradtionally called Destiny Points, or The Finger of God.

I prefer to call them of them pre-incarnational commitments. They seem to say something like "I will do this even if it kills me."

They can be pesky because they do have a problem involved and it will not let you get away with ignoring it. It just keeps popping up over and over until you resolve it.

The sextile represents something like a talent...here Neptune sextile Pluto actually refers to being born at a time when consciousness is rising rapidly. It is a kind of magical placement which links visionary ability and creative ablity. One might say the power to intentionally dream up reality.

Howver the sextile cannot work for you until you resolve some Mars problem--one that is involved in your self-image. I suspect that this Mars placement refers to childhood conditions that kept you focused on survival. That might be physical survial, but is more often survial "as who you are." You think of yourself as a Survivor, do you not?
No one can really begin to devople their potential for increasing awareness until all survival issues are settled. Only then do we have the time to think.....especially the time to think about who and what we are, and why we are here.

In the end then, when you can feel really safe in your world--when you understand, even at the subconscous level that it is safe to be You, then your conscious will natually rise and your ability to be aware will expand. That is much like expanding one or more of your perceptual bands, so that you see, hear, or sense more than before.

hi rev alice,
i just can't tell u how overwhelmed i felt when i read ur post.
i mean when u said i probably thought of myself as a survivor,i felt such gratitude and relief wash over me ,cos someone finally understood.
u know ,i have always thought of myself as a SURVIVOR/FIGHTER because i really had to fight for each and every inch of space i had in my life.
i had a few bad accidents as a kid;and each time i felt as though i were a puppet being pulled this way and that way;i felt so helpless.
i am now in my late teens and i want to resolve this mars issue.
it is just a thought, but maybe the unresolved mars issue includes temper(mars) and speech(gemini) cos my mars is in gemini(mars is also conjunct CHIRON).
in my adoloscent years i used to have a temper problem;and all my anger used to take the form of words.i have been trying to control this aggressive side of mine for the past few years and i think i have finally succeeded upto a certain extent.
will you please guide me and tell me what to do?
and i really want to thank you for replying.
it was such a big help.
THANK YOU!!!!!

Hi!
The Yod configuration 'points' to an area of tension, but often those with this configuration in their chart feel a strong need to help others, even if their help is never acknowledged. My best friend has THREE Yod configurations in her chart, with the stress aspects pointing to Mars, Saturn, and a Venus-Neptune conjunction. Her chart looks like a penatagram. She is one of the loveliest prople I have ever known. But it does seem to be consistent with feeling that one is a 'pawn of Fate', ever at the mercy of others and unforseen circumstances. However, all configurations have a purpose, and the Yod 'points the way' - in other words, it seems to be important for people with this configuration in their chart to help others in some way, either by teaching what they have learned or by simply being a 'light in the darkness' and leading by example. With the stress on Mars in the first house, I gather that you have struggled with a lot of issues around anger and self-esteem. Your 'survivor' instinct is what you have learned....and what you can teach to others. Surviving against the odds and still coming out okay and on top - you are in a prime position to be able to show others the way. How could you apply this practically to your life? I mean, have you thought about using your knowledge and strengths in a practical way - in your career? Counselling is a bit wishy washy for a Mars in the First person, but have you thought about working with difficult teenagers? There are associations that run rehabilitation courses for young offenders - something like that. It just strikes me that you would be an ideal person to deal with troubled teenagers - because you've been in their shoes, so-to-speak, and come out a survivor, not a victim, of circumstance.
Just a thought!
Love & Light

hi katie,
thanks a lot for your post.
you are such a big help.
i think perhaps i am a bit too young to actually work with troubled teenagers ;but i will definitely look upon it as an option.
i am 18 now and i am starting medical college this september.
perhaps , this is where my calling lies.....
in HEALING(CHIRON) and in helping people come in terms with their own PAIN(MARS).......

Mars is, above all, the survival instinct--our first desire is to live. The "foundation" under anger is some feeling of being threatened. What triggers your anger? Look for something from childhood that made you fear either death or the loss of Self. We need, not merely to stay alive, but to stay who we are. Some adults are so intent on molding their children that they set off a great deal of fear, and sometimes it is not safe, or not acceptable to let anyone see the fear. For males, the socially acceptable conversion is to anger. For females, it is to grief/tears.

super bull -

For what it's worth, I have a very stressful T-Square in my chart, and Scorpio happens to play a large part in my life as well, in the sense that everything I do in life gets filtered through it first.

I've always felt like a warrior in this respect, Mars the warrior. All my life, I've remembered all my dreams, and am able to have lucid dreams where I am able to direct the dream, (knowing I'm dreaming all the while).

Not only that, most of my dreams have had to do with dangerous situations which required an agile body and mind to survive, and survive I do. If you get into something like Karate, boxing, kick boxing, etc., it will help you get in touch with your warrior.

When things get tough, I remind myself that some of the greatest achievements in life came about by people with extremely challenging charts because they have to give it everything they've got.
