Hiya

I've been reading a book called "What your horoscope doesn't tell you" by Charles Strohmer. He is a former astrologer who has now 'found' God and now is trying to discredit all that Astrology stands for.

Now i have my doubts about him - but some of the points he raises in the book are interesting, and i was wondering if any astrology minded person could set me straight with these please

1) People born at certain times of the year (he doesn't say when) in certain countries such as Canada, Greenland, Iceland etc have no planetary influences because no planets or stars are in sight! (His words not mine!)

2) The outer planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto were only added recently - so does that mean people born before their discovery were free from their influence? How can they just be added into our horoscopes? (Again - His words not mine!!)

3) Identical twins - or those born at the same moment can lead totally different lives... should they not be the same according to astrology??

He does ramble on - but these were the questions i couldn't answer myself - so if anyone here has any theories could you please share

LOL

hi nebel

its good that you are looking at both sides of the coin. people who try to debunk astro from a religious viewpoint can say some pretty silly things though, from my experience. i think that man probably just really needs to discredit it for him*self*, and so will use any sort of fuzzy logic to do so. thats just my opinion. i have had some discussions with churchly types about it though. ive usually come away frustrated. a lot of religious folk tend to lump astro in with witchcraft etc... which is silly. if a god exists, he would have created the planets too, and there would be infinite wisdom in them, and harmony to their movements. so why is astrology so bad?

as for your questions, i can answer the first two. the third, i can give a theory.

1. no planets and stars are in sight, but that doesnt mean they dont exist. thats just silly on his part. what, canada and iceland just dont have planets? i live in canada and i see lots of stars, and actually you can see the stars better when you are up north, as theres little smog etc to impede the view. i dont know about iceland etc as ive never been. his comment really has no merit at all.

2. same with the outer planets. just because one cant see them, doesnt mean they are there. you could apply his logic to his own god, i cant see a man on a throne with big fluffy beard, is he not there too? *shrugs* i dont think people born before their discovery werent immune to their influence. they just didnt realize it and tended to put rulerships into the other planets. like, before uranus was discovered, if there had of been internet, it would have been in the realm of mercury. now we know of uranus, and the internet would fall under that category. does that make sense?

3. much study has been done in the astro community on twins. i cant cite any of their findings as i have looked into it too much but- my personal theory is that there are two ways any sign can go. it also depends on the time between births. some births of identical twins are an hour apart. that could be little enough time for a certain aspect to widen, or the moon could even be different. thats the beauty of astrology, it doesnt preclude free will, and even though there are only 12 signs its all in the details, and all of us are unique and beautiful in our own special way.

i hope that helped a little.

Apparently, he was never a true astrologer. Maybe he only meant that he read the dailies religiously (pun intended), because it is clear that he lacks a fundamental understanding of astrology. Not sure if the sky is ever devoid of stars, but whether or not that is true, they are still there. rotflmao As Astrology is symbolic of our Soul's many choices (including personality), the outer Planets had no meaning before their discovery. That last one (about Astrology being symbolic) is just my personal ONION, but few astrologers actually claim that the Planets physically cause anything; instead, most astrologers say that they mirror events on Earth (as above, so below). Lastly, Astrology is not fatalistic. Many factors make up our personality, and our Free-will choices can cause quite a deviation in Life choices between even identical twins raised in the same environment; however, the opposite is also true: People born at the same time can sometimes have remarkable similarities and not be related at all!

Nebel!! LOL!!

Good gourd, does this guy really think there are times when no stars or planets are visible in Canada? As if we have no constellations... as if they all stop being visible at the 49th parallel... What's his story, raised in an egg crate in the dark somewhere? LOL!!

Oh boy... sorry, I can't keep a straight face, so I'll leave this thread to others to answer.

PS it's not your questions, it's the author's opinions that got to me. Peace to you!
