Almost everything I've read about virgos does not seem to match me. I am not analytical (usually), not a perfectionist (although I used to be), not very practical (I am more of a dreamer)...I could go on and on. I was wondering if anyone else felt like they were born on the wrong birth day?

your sun sign is only part of your whole chart. check your rising (or ascendant) sign, moon sign, and the planets in all your houses. nobody is a pure virgo, a pure libra, a pure anything. all the other planets play a role in who you are also. to check all that stuff, you can go to a library and check out an astrology book with an ephemeris, or you can have a professional astrologer do your whole chart for you. personally, i would check out the book, its pretty fun to do, plus you can do your friends and family and the same time. hope this answers your question

What's your rising sign? What's in your first house? You can't look only at your sun sign, there's so many other layers to consider. That's like trying to listen to a symphony but only putting a microphone on the cello. Know what I mean?
You can go to astro.com and get a full chart done, then you'll know what all your other placements are. You need to know what time you were born though, cuz then you get the rising sign and planet house placements as well.

Hi, I understand what you mean Purp

If I was to divide my life into thirds, it would seem that the first 1/3, I fullfilled my sun sign definition (Aqua). The second 1/3, I became more my rising (Cappy) sign. This 1/3, I feel more Virgo (moon) than the other two. I`m counting on the next leg to be a harmonious blend of all three. If there could be harmony with that mix .

Take their advice & look more into your chart & you will see yours-elf clearer.

thanks for the replies.
I don't know what time I was born, my mom said between 2 and 4am and she does not remember.
I will check out astro.com, because I have no idea what's in my first house or my rising sign.

or cancer ascendant. probably cancer because that would put her IC at virgo and MC at pisces. just like me (smile) and i've always identified with pisces energy.

someone correct me if that is not the way in which to calculate such things as IC/MC.

Hi purplezen
Well sorry to have to tell you this...but your initial post did show your analytical side. I'm a Virgo..so it takes one to know one
Have you ever read Linda Goodmans "Sun Signs" .....read what she says about Virgos and how someone told her they were not at all "that way".........

me=virgo sun/moon/venus

and i can be downright slovenly. hehe, not you're typical virgo description. and damned it! linda was the the only astrologer willing to expose these astrological truths about virgo, lol. we really can and do let the dishes pile up, we virgo moons can and sometimes do keep a secret booger collection on the side of our unmade beds (forgot who posted that one re: moon signs-LMAO)'!!! problem for me is im constantly aware of these tendencies and it drives me nuts to live in a stinky, unkept home. you see the torture we virgos must endure on a daily basis?

I don't know why, but that's funny! I once read that the moon represents what we need, so just by the fact that we need it, means we feel a sense of lack there. So to have Virgo moon would mean to feel a lack of Virgoen virtues. Enter booger collection. sorry. That's soo funny! I use to know someone who... oh, nevermind. (he had a Virgo moon)...ok. I'll tell ya. He use to wizz on his little brother's bed! ...Why? Cuz his brother had a bed wetting problem, so he figured it served him right! Virgo moon logic, I guess.

thanks again. I am still a neophyte regarding astrology, but your posts are helping me understand a lot more. Cat, doh! I knew my analytical side couldn't hide I recently ordered Sun Signs by linda goodman but I haven't received it in the mail yet.
lovely*, I am ashamed to admit that I once literally kept a booger collection (I think I was 7 at the time) on the back of my door! lol.

Welcome FiReY leo 1! Good answer! Another good free alternative is Astro.com-- cheap and cheerful!

I forget where, maybe in Liz Greene's stuff, but I read that there were two main Virgo prototypes -- the neat and tidy Virgo, and the totally slovenly one that keeps its penchant for order in the mind, and maybe, just maybe, on their bookshelves.

I've known both types!

Also purplezen, as you learn more about astrology, you'll eventually find something about your own chart that suddenly makes everything else make sense -- such as for anafaery here, it was her Chiron (waves to faery!) -- and I think Cat and Lioneye have mentioned their 12th House placements as being strong. Maybe you have retrograde planets. Rev. Alice posted awhile back about interceptions -- when planets are sandwiched between two signs in a house, they act differently than expected.

Maybe you can contact the hospital where you were born for an attestation of your birthtime -- usually there's an administrative fee, but at least you would know.

OMG, LMAO @ purple! too funny. i was 7 once. i tasted my own pee at that age.

lioneye, i was malnourished as a child . so it makes perfect virgoan sense. BUT i never keep them anymore.

now its more like pick yer nose..pick n' flick, there it goes..where it lands nobody knows, hahahahaa.

welcome firey leo!

lol lovely!

hi lunar and lioneye

my husband is a virgo, and he is a SLOB. most times anyway.

he has an aqua moon and i think we had read that aqua moons with virgo suns actually do have a proclivity for that sort of lifestyle choice

one thing i do know is that we can look at our chart to the third house. that rules mundane things in our daily lives. look at the planets in that house, if there are any, and their angles to other planets, and the cusp ruler, and the planetary ruler of that sign. seems complicated but it is pretty simple after one gets used to it.

Hi lovely* -- I just realized there's an asterisk in your nick -- are you the same person who was posting at Lindaland as 'lovely' in recent months, or a new person?

I anticipate standing being corrected.

I have aquarian moon/rising and virgo moon...
and i can say i have NO virgo qualities, i always wondered where that practical, disciplined part of me was.. its not there, im a big messs!
so,i guess i need to be more practical, conventional, organised. that makes so much more sense.
I got my answer, thanks lioneye
