Remember those sailor moon anime cartoons? Each girl had a power related to a planet. I used to watch that show religiously, lol, so that is what got me started on the path of the stars.

It was my wacky Sagittarius mom who got me into it when I was 12. She dropped it and moved on to the next "flavor of the month", but I remained a loyal student of it, cuz it really nailed me, and I thought that was so cool. Still do.

i was about 6 or 7 yo and my favorite aunt was reading a big book (she used to read stories like James and the Giant Peach, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Super-fudge and so on)..so i insisted she read it to me..and she read the virgo woman section to me. i thought it was magic or witchcraft. then years later, when i was 13 i remembered that book (Love Signs) and while at the library i looked for it, checked it out along with a book blending western with chinese astrology. i have been studying ever since.

We had a witch in our neighborhood, and I thought she was a real witch like in the movies until I read more about it. Astrology was cool because being a Taurus never seemed to fit me until I understood the bigger picture.

I really got into astrology over a relationship with an Aqua, I think a lot of people do find astrology because of a wacked out relationship.

My Auntie gave be Sun Signs for Christmas when I was 15 along with a complete year horoscope book and a big book all about taurus. It fascinated me and I gobbled it up. I've been hooked since. I actually read anything to do with theology and the evolution of it. It's kewl.

Good question! Probably indirectly through my Gem mom, because she liked to read the newspaper sunsign astrology descriptions to us occasionally, and as decor for awhile, we had a big sort of medieval-style zodiac thingamajig hanging on the livingroom wall. Later I read and bought books.Even later than that, I met a super astrologer and we became friends and I was a client/student (sadly she just passed on recently). Linda was a later find for me.

When I was 7 or 8 I had the most vivid dream of my life. I travelled to Jupiter and travelled all around the surface, saw the giant red spot, etc....It was one of those dreams that was so real, that my waking up, seemed like the dream state.

This happened on my first trip away from New York. I went to Prince Edward Island in Canada.

The first night there before this dream, a friend and I went out in to the corn fields (being from around New York, I only heard of such places)we found a patch of ground and layed down...and MY GOD when I looked up...
seeing the heavens with out the light pollution for the first time....really well, really made me feel like I was the smallest creature ever made.

After that I was hooked on astronomy. To try to find my place with the planets..what does planet mean again... wanderer? Seems right for me.

My father who is an accountant always dealt with numbers and translated what they meant for businesses.

I liked that, in the astronomy i saw nothing but numbers, well, my virgo mind loved that but I guess the Libra Moon, wanted it to mean more, thus a natural progression to astrology for meaning behind the numbers. For a mean for it all.

I would love to have a dream like that again.

Yeah, I like this thread... I was living with a pisces girl for almost three years. She had a few of Linda's books but I never looked at them. Then something changed and we hardly ever spoke. For the last few months we were also living with a Scorpio associate from my uni. He ended up leaving due to his feelings for my GF, and moved several hundred miles away. They started talking a lot and we started talking less. I noticed after we broke up that a passage of one of Linda's books described the effect of certain transiting planets. The effect was that Gem/Pisces talked less, while Scorp/Pisces talked more. I realised that this is exactly what had happened so I told one of my new flat mates that I started liking Linda's books. She bought me Star Signs for my next birthday (I was 22). I read this in a few days and was absolutely astounded. I felt like a male version of Alice. I met two avatars independently shortly after that taught me volumes. I haven't seen them for months (one was a friend that sold fruit at uni, while the other was a busker I saw occasionally). So ever since I've collected all of Linda's works except Love Signs (though I think this is the one that got me started). The weird thing is that my entire family despise astrology or numerology (they are all 1s) and yet I love it. I don't believe like some people that it is a way of classifying people, but more of a way to understand - which I find important and interesting.
Sorry for the lengthy reply.

I agree Sthenri

My Virgo g/f had a book on astrology (don't remember the author). She was reading every person whom that we knew sign. Then, she came to me Just the way that a Scorpio was described interested me

I remember being paranoid about being a scorpio. I mean, well, first I hear about perfect virgos, then flamboyant leos, etc.

Then out crawls the description for the scorpio! I remember the Virgo g/f made her sign sound completely amazing! Then she read mine... looked at me like GEEEZ!

It puzzled me so much that she actually saw some of these traits in me. As a child I was always the one that never backed talked my parents, did as I was asked, was always told that I acted older than my true age.

Yet, that description was saying something completely different.

I was to the assumption that everyone was just like me. Think that's why I always got so angry at others. Now I just "try" to find the humor in each person, laugh and go on my merry way.

NOTE: Not always. Yet, I do try

I don't know precisely when I became interested in astrology--it's always been a hobby for me. I had issues with it when I was younger because I was raised to be rather religious. Then I found Linda's Sun Signs in high school and reading the Virgo Woman section was like looking into a mirror, even though it was written way before I was born, in a generation that I hadn't thought I could relate to. Of course, being the ever-analytical Virgo, I had to find out how it worked! I devoured Sun Signs (I can quote some passages from memory!!) and have recently found a book on the mathematical aspects of it.
