Hi,I was wondering if anyone can help me... I know it's probably a simple answer, but I have to ask so that I have a better understanding... Ok, here goes... I have been reading about magi astrology and really enjoy it...my question is, when you have 2 planets that are in the same sign and would probably be considered a conjunction, but one is 7 degrees and the other is 25 degrees...then that means that really there is no conjunction, right? Since, it should be within 5 degrees or something...or does it mean that it is still a conjunction but not as strong? I am sorry, I know it's a dumb question Thankyou for any help -L IP: Logged |

That's right. A true conjuction is anywhere from within a 5 to a 7 or 8 degree orb. Opinions vary on how wide of an orb should be used, and that number varies depending on the aspect. Generally the orbs are wider for the more powerful aspects like the conjunction and the opposition. If it's out of that orb, then it's a conjunction by sign only, which still works pretty good, but isn't as compelling. Out of orb aspects are easily neutralized by other influences in the chart. That's not a stupid question at all. It's a very good one. IP: Logged |

May I just add...astrologers vary on this, but you can have 'out of sign,' so to speak, aspects between planets/signs.For instance, 29 degrees of Sag can still conjunct, oh, let's say 5 degrees of Capricorn. For another example...26 degrees of Aries can still trine 1 degree of Capricorn. You can see an interesting energy mix in those. I realize that some astrologers don't buy into this, but my teacher did, and I would have to agree with her. I've seen it work in my chart and those of others. And, as she often said, if the energy is there, reach for it! IP: Logged |

I agree 100%, trillian! Reason being, I have Mars at 1 deg Leo, and my sweetie has Venus at 28 Cancer, so it's a conjunction for sure (BELIEVE me ) and a fairly tight one, within 3 degrees, but it's called an "out of quality" or "out of character" conjunction.I'm not sure what the hallmarks are for this kind of conjunction. In my experience, it feels like the same intense and compelling attraction, but with a sense of unfamiliarity, which piques the curiosity about each other. (speaking in terms of a relationship with this type of conjunction) IP: Logged |

lioneye and trillian, does this theory apply to squares as well? say for example:venus 1 degree cancer matched up with the partners mars at 29 degrees picses. would this indicate a square? IP: Logged |

Yes, lovely, I would think the tension of a square would still be there. I think about a 3 degree orb is fair for "out of quality" squares and trines, maybe 4 or 5 degrees for oppositions and conjunctions. Common sense says that other aspects could reinforce them, or they could neutralize them easier when they're 'out of quality'. Do you have this with someone close... like your husband maybe?
