This isn't about astrology, but if you're on the low carb diet like I am, your dying to learn new recipes.

Great snack - lay a layer of Pork skins, BBQ if available, cover with graded cheese and put in Microwave until melted.

Next, mix up Maynese (not Miricle Whip), Mustard, and tuna or chicken. Lay the mixture over the Pork skins already prepaired, add more graded cheese, add more pork skins and graded chesse and heat again.

Makes a great very low Carb meal or snack. If anyone has a really good recipe email me. I've lost 25 Lbs, but am tired of the same old stuff.

I'll see what I can come up with for you Lanny.

I've heard that the low carbs diet works. Yet, I have to admit, pork skins and cheese?!! I would swell like a blimp!

Also... no bread! Ahhhh! How do you stand it?!

Hey Lanny, you've got the right idea--absolutely. I snack on cottage cheese, sugar free jello and other no sugar sweetened goodies along with sharp NY cheddar with an occasional apple thrown into the mix.

When my weight gets up to 215, I go shopping and nothing but high protein, eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, cottage cheese, steak etc goes into the cart. In about 7-10 days, it's back to 200 again.

One problem, don't stay on the high protein only diet too long. The gall bladder works overtime secreting bile to digest the extra fat. If you have gall stones and almost everyone does, they may be flushed out of the gall bladder and one or more may get stuck in the bile tract. Painful, very.

Good job Lanny, I guess you're really looking at ingredient lists and checking for carbs on the labels.

1scorp, most people diet, cutting back on fat and protein. This causes the body to burn the lean muscle mass and it's the lean muscle mass that burns calories which leaves people lots worse off than they were to start with, with a body less able to burn calories and with a higher fat to lean muscle tissue ratio than they started with.
So, it's good to play carnivore for a while

Is that the same as the 'Atkins Diet'? I've heard that it's actually very unhealthy in the long run, no?
It does make sense though.

Are you allowed to eat fruit and veggies on this diet at all?
My sister lost 20 pounds and counting by just cutting the starches out of her diet. No pasta, no rice, no breads, etc. When she makes spaghetti, it's with spaghetti squash, which is super cool stuff, and perdy darn good too! She makes chicken/beef/pepper wraps with leafy lettuce instead of pita bread, or flat bread, etc. Stuff like that. There's some creative ways to still be able to make the family's favorites, and lose weight at the same time.
Any diet that says "no fruits and veggies" worries me.

Something for laughs ...

A very slim astrologer told me once, that the best time to start a weight-loss program is the time when Mars squares the ruler of your Asc or your VIth house - then you should do exercises. If it is Venus, you should go on a diet, creams etc.

I have found this to be true! I have lost 20 pounds while Saturn was crossing over the ruler of my VIth house (Jupiter in Taurus which is in my XI house ... I plan to do a diet every Monday LOL.

lioneye68, yes it similar to the Atkins diet, except there is no grapefruit juice involved.

juniperb, as a matter of fact beer has garbs, but Miller light is the lowest (4.5), Coors Light next (6), and Bud around 9. On sunday night when we're out dancing at the Eagles, I allow myself a couple of Millers.

Aphrodite, that would be great. LLLOG@yahoo.com

lioneye68, Fruits and Veggies are high in carbs. I've been putting whipping cream (o carbs)on fresh strawberries (4 carbs 1/4 cup)

They are also great blended with ice, Whipping cream, & a little Equal.

Thanks everyone for your inputs.

I was just thinking about going on this diet the other day. A friend of mine lost 15 lbs on the diet in 2 weeks without any exercise. That’s crazy! I cant believe that works. She told me she ate a lot of salads and meat, and eggs.

One salad that I remember she telling me was a grilled chicken salad. With a head of lettuce (any variety), grilled chicken with any different seasoning cut into strips, feta cheese, and whatever would be good with it...red onions, your favourite salad dressing, etc. Just be creative with what you put in the salads...eg seafood, meat, veges, cheeses, seasonings/dressings.

I think it may have been the atkins diet she was on. She couldnt eat fruits, or tomatoes or carrots. And near the end of the 2 weeks she slowly introduced carbs back into the diet starting with fruit since it's lighter.

CRAZY, animal fats and proteins KILL, no mystery there. Quick weight loss vs health, you choose. Fruit doesnt screw you up like grains, but will allow detox reactions , especially after eating loads of animal products! Never met a fat raw fooder, so go figure.

Hi Illog, this isn't about a diet, I just heard that you do some sorts of readings and I wanted to know more about it; I don't really see you around a lot so I had to grab you in this thread.

I have tried every diet in the world, including the so called "healthy" low fat diets (which incedentally, are usually loaded with sugar, which is much worse for you than fat is-it screws with your insulin and doesn't satisfy). The only one I can promote is a low carb plan. I tried Atkins first, but got ill twice while doing it. Then someone introduced me to another plan, which is a modified Atkins- high protein, low carb, but all the veggies you want, and also fruit. It's Suzanne Somers (yeah, I know, I know) but the recipes in her books are wonderful for anyone low carbing, and at the beginning of her books a doctor explains how sugar is screwing us all up. Isn't that what Linda said? "No white sugar, no white flour"....hmmmm.

Anyway, Im a sugar addict, and going back on my diet ASAP. Ill deal with the withdrawl headache and hopefully will stick with it this time.

Beef Pot Roast (modified to how I make it w/o vegetables)
Better Homes and Gardens: New Cookbook (1989)

1 2.5 - 3 lb beef chuck pot rost
2 TB cooking oil
3/4 cup dry red wine
1 TB worchestershire sauce
1 cube beef bouillion (I use the brand Telma)
1 TSP dried basil, crushed

In a Dutch oven brown roast on all sides in hot oil. Combine wine, worchestershire sauce, bouillion and basil. Pour over roast. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 2.5 - 3 hours.

I have tried this diet and it doesn't work for me, I start craving sweets like crazy, all night I dream about hot fudge sundaes. I do eat lots of protein anyway since i have a relative who is an amateur bodybuilder, I know about lean muscle mass.

I eat a lot of veggies and fruits and chicken, and seafood, still I will eat rice and whole grains. No pasta or refined carbs at all and sweets are out unless it's social.

*grimaces at the thought of eating pork rids as part of any meal. Gross!*
I'm glad to see a post about this, because I've been considering the diet myself lately. My damn Libra sweet tooth has gotten out of control lately, and I really need to do something about it.
But, being from an Irish heritage, I love my bread and potatos! So I've been against trying the Atkin's diet... until now. I'm pretty much ready to try anything! LOL

Hello Everyone!

lllog, that is awesome...how did the change first effect you, did you notice anything different right away? Also, there are different types of problems people with weight problems have...some just eat too much, others have one certain food they just can't live without, and there are also the ones who don't eat much than anyone else, if even AS much, but still seem to not be able to lose, or control their weight...which type are you.

everyone else...
You have to find what is right for you. Everyone is different and what works for one, may not work for another. I think that the most important thing of all is to make sure whatever it is you decide to do is within your comfort zone. That's why so many people fail...we set ourselves up with unrealistic expectations by going full force into a plan that requires us to do things that are way out of our norm. We are creatures of habit...slowly but surely we end right back up where we started.

For instance...if you don't normally eat breakfast but they say that on this certain plan you HAVE to eat breakfast...it's not going to work for very long.

I went down 2 dress sizes by adding 20mins walking time to my day. I eat what I want, when I want and usually it's not the greatest for me. Walking seemed to be the ticket for my weight loss.
