Curiously I was wondering what the possibilities are to plan for a great chart. For example, if one knows certain signs in certain houses makes a very interesting and dynamic chart, can one plan ahead? In some ways I did this. I knew I wanted a Virgo child, but my other two were based on when it was most comfortable to be pregnant, not on what the birth sign would be. Why Virgo? because I am one and I really understood him. My other two are fire signs and so much harder to parent, as I am less in tune to their motivations. Almost like they speak a different language. So, this made me wonder if people planned (if even possible) in advance to get certain Sun & Moon signs.

Yes, I've thought about this, and I think the only real answer is that the person really chooses who they are before they are born. The reason is that there are many influences that I think our human limitations would not be able to accurately predict. Not to mention the fact that giving birth on a planned date would be difficult (except for Linda's comment on water births). I would want to plan my children in terms of sun signs, but I also think it'd be good to just let God do as "He" will...

I was totally unplanned, lol. Not only that - I arrived 6 weeks ahead of time. I "should have been" a Leo and instead I'm a Gemini. I think some women might have more control on their conception and get pregnant right at the time they planned but more often than not, it can take a while and then there's "controlling" the due date. So...

Bauschd - Very interesting on the choosing before idea. But how does the water birth fit on? I was thinking the people that could have the most control (within reason) would be the ones who have c-sections.

Duality - You are absolutely right. Conception is so much easier to plan for than the actual birth. Were your parents (or mom) hoping you would be a Leo, originally?

I was born a month early. Had I been "on time" I'd have Libra sun. Whoa, that is really crazy to think about...

Pix,
My mom wasn't hoping for anything, lol. She never planned on having another kid (my only sister is almost 11 yrs older).
My dad wasn't planning anything either but when it happened, he really hoped, or should I say assumed I would be a boy cause there was no way on earth I could be a girl.

Just goes to show you.....lol

Who would you say is "GREAT", Pixie?
Whoever would be considered great in your book, find out their birth info and run their chart.
Then, compare the charts of others who are simularly "great" and see if there's any common bonds between them, astrologically.

Actually that sounds like an interesting subject, which would make for a most interesting thread!

Duality - gotta love those unexpected blessings

LionE- I consider great people to be like the innovators, the ones who motivate and move. Off the top of my head, Oprah would be a current person. A person at the top of whatever they do. What do you think?

Pixie, Linda said the major important thing concerning your life is the time of your first breath. Therefore having water births could allow you to prolong this time as the baby could be attached to the chord for days. She also advocated water births as they were calmer for the child. I believe its in Star Signs with the talk of Dolphins etc.

Duality, like I said earlier, whether your parents planned for you means nothing really. It's that YOU wanted to be here

I don't think with water births it's safe AT ALL to give birth and let the baby swim around in the water for days. In fact I think it's pretty impossible. After giving birth the placenta will make it's way out and there would be no oxygen or nutrients going to the baby.

In water births the baby still comes up almost right away to breathe.

Wych ~ Darlin', you took the words right out of my mouth! I was just thinking I'd respond with the same thing, and there you were, beating me to the punch! You can beat me anytime!! *? sounded kinkier/submissive than I first intended!* Well, you know what I mean!

Yeah, I don't know much on the subject, just that I thought this was kind of YUCK!!!!

but that's just me. I love the theories on Dolphins though. Passing 60 million years of knowledge through the water (ESP). I've LOVE to do this experiment when I have kids, but I think it'd be difficult. You'd have to live near a beach with dolphins, or live near Sea World, but now I'm derailing again...

Bauschd~ we are pixies aplenty here, fluttering about on every thread, landing on the ones we choose. The idea of suspending your first glimpse of the world for days is a lovely thought, and birth is so traumatic for both mom and child, the idea of floating appeals to me. I was reading a novel tonight, and funny, but they went on for a few pages about dolphins and the way they communicate. It had little to do with the book, really, just the author elaborating I guess. So it is interesting that I came across your post this late eve. About dolphins no less.
My opinion ( and who can prove it really) is that we do choose our experiences, time of birth, chart etc, before we enter the world in a human incarnation, in order to further our spiritual evolution for the good of all. We are faced with so many choices, and each moment that passes brings more discomfort or happiness regarding the choices we'd already made. Never, until the pieces are all together, do we realize the extent of the puzzle, or what it all was for. It's a giant chess board, and we are either a King or a Pawn, each as important in their role as the other.sorry, too much of a spiral, I'll stop now.

I've alwys thought a water birth would be easier on the transition for the baby. However, I would think more than a few minutes in the water would jeopardize the baby. Interesting concept though.
I recall the dolphins, after you brought it up.

I saw a water birth on that "birth channel". The mother seemed to be in less pain (though I don't know if she was given medication, but I would think not.) I think that the baby did not cry either. They said that their first child was born under the water and the baby was so well-behaved. I would think that it would be a more gentle way for a child to be brought into the world. I've seen C-section children and children born through induced labor and they seem to be prone to rages. I'm talking about rages.

Yeah, see this reminds me of that cirumcision thread a while back. Who's to say the little tots don't feel? I definitely want to get into water births when it's my time. My view is that its like stretching your mouth on cold crisp days. If you use lip balm, then they don't crack much, and you can stretch all you like, but with out it, you cracked lips get dry and could bleed. I just think water births make more sense, though I've heard you do need experienced staff...

I can't remember the times that I said "who would have thought this would turn into that...?!?"

my point is ... great things come from the least expected places, sometimes. many times...

I'm a psychologist and I know that we don't know what makes most people "tick"...each person is so damn complicated, and every thing you can see or hear is the result of nameless countless factors that interact in ways we can't even imagine (actually, there are so many theories as one can count).

take astrology. it as any more mathematical than psychology. there is no ONE way to say anything. look at any thread here. countless possibilies for everything.

I think that the "computer" to take EVERYTHING into account hasn't been invented yet, unless you count God, of course.

this is my bid. you never know what tomorrow may bring. I'm getting wiser by the day...
