Being one with a Scorpio Asc -- i must say, i am continually unhappy with the physical descriptions given most of the time.

We are supposed to be somewhat swarthy, probably pockmarked, acne, oily skin, low brow, dark haired, short stocky build? Probably some more i forgot at the moment.

I am blonde, blue eyed, baby hair and skin, 5'5 (shrunk an inch with age - lol) very high forehead -- anyway -- not at all looking like the asc i have -- mebbe excepting the piercing eyes -- lol.

Obviously other planetary positions will contribute to physical appearance, but i just find it interesting that the ONE thing that is supposed to MOSTLY DEScribe one is so wrong in my case. Reading around, i find that the descriptions for Pisces and some Aries fit better -- well, i do have 3 planets in each sign.

Corri -- i know u have Scorp asc also and ic u don't look like the swarthy Scorpio either.

I bet there are others who don't LOOK like their Ascendant sign?

Comments??

I hear you Niki...I have a Scorp Asc and it doesn't really fit my appearance... I am tall (well, taller than average for females
5ft 10in ) and my hair is fine, red, but curly. I got the eye thing tho..its the first thing ppl comment on, and even perfect strangers have come up to me while at restaurants to show their friends "my gaze"

Yah, weird.......
I went to a site about Asc appearances and according to my decan of Scorp, I will start to look more like my mother in my later years.
My first thought is gee, what a great thing to look forward to. My second response is..... doesnt that happen to everyone?

I am hardly swarthy (but i like the word..hahah)...i am pale pale pale. I glow.
BTW.....according to that site, we do get oily skin, but not necessarily pock marked.

Maybe for those with Scorp Asc, its not just appearance but demeanor. I have been described as menacing, forceful , powerful, and most often intimidating. The last, by 99% of every person who has become my friend.

Considering my Virgo Sun, being called "intimidating" is not quite what one would expect. Hey, at least I am sexy!!!

hahahhahhhaha

I'm a scorp asc. and not swarthy either!
Darkish blondish hair with a red tinge, typical gemini hazel eyes, short though (5'5"), totally dry skin, hardly ever a pimple (thank God no pockmarks!!), high forehead but I do have a short neck and a stocky build. I don't think I have a piercing look, I have more the active gemini eyes (drives my hubby crazy that my eyes never stay still--he says it's so hard to talk to me cause he thinks I'm never listening!), but I think I have an open, friendly taurus-moon face. What other planets are responsible for how you look? My picture is on the lindaland joints page, if anyone cares

I actually do have a problem with pimples - oy, especially when I was a young teen.
You coulda squeezed my face and it would've popped. I'm also "swarthy" for my family, and I've inherited less cherubic features than my brother and sister.
For all of my Pisces/Aqua gangliness (with my Aqua Moon and 1st House Uranus), most people also think think that I *must* work out - I put on muscle and, in person anyway, look quite fit with little to no effort on my part (when I *do* work out...watch out...I Man Up quickly); and I definitely do have, or at the very least can have, any variety of the "Scorpio Stare" (including the "look at my man like that again and I'll see you melt onto the floor" glare-down). Re: demeanor: When the OB/Gyn was asking me the compulsory, "Are you or have you ever been abused?" questions, after I answered negative to all, she said, "Yeah...you don't seem like one that'd put up with that," and people generally (upon meeting me) say that I have a "forceful personality".

Jason does as well - he's a Scorp rising, too, and I thought that he was going to make this one guy in the hospital who he thought had started looking at me spontaneously combust with the force of his eyes. We also both have rather "sharp" features & similar coloring (coming from similar ancestral backgrounds) - to be honest, more than one person that we both know has said that we look very much like close brother and sister (one guy at work actually thought that he must've been my brother based on the similarity the first time that Jase came in).
Here're pics if'n you wanna compare (me and Jase): http://groups.msn.com/CorriJaseWedding/shoebox.msnw=
One mutual friend that I'm talking to on AIM right now just said that the best description for our eyes is "piercing blue" (several people have also said that we have the exact same eyes)...but I'd imagine that other Scorp risings could easily have "piercing green" or, like my great-grandfather (a Scorp Sun), black eyes that'll look right through you if you've done something to vex him (my grandma still talks about how he could freeze a wrong-doing kid cold just by looking at them).

My Mother is a Scorp rising and doesn't fit that description at all. I think one needs to take a person race into the equation. My mom is German (with some Cherokee) but she is a 5 foot 6 blonde haired, blue eyed lady. LOL

She does have those German hips though.

This is funny, because I haven't heard ANY of these Scorpio Ascendant descriptions before.

The characteristics I attribute to Scorps and Scorp ascendants are:

A prominent (although not necessarily LARGE) nose.

Bushy eyebrows.

A piercing gaze. Makes folks uncomfortable when you stare at them "that" way.

Often somewhat bowlegged.

Very determined manner of walking. Generally look as if they know where they are going and as if you had better not get in their way.

Hope that helps,

Daf, a Scorp ASCendant

Corri~ upon looking at your pictures again, and hearing your descriptions, I wanted to post a picture of my mother @ her wedding... keep in mind it is 1972 at the time. But I feel there is quite a resemblance between you.Lemme see if I can post it.... Didn't work...can someone tell me how to post pics? I will just put it in LLjoints. Cool....
here's the link... http://groups.msn.com/LindaLandjoints/shoebox.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=421
I put me there after, too, but I won't keep it up for long, just let me know when you've seen 'em, and I'll clear.

Teaselbaby~ The first link didn't work..... thought I'd let you know, the second one did though.*CUTE!*

I should mention, too, that I am scorpio sun.....but leo rising. I think I look more leo rising though, but isn't that how it should be?(regarding the LLjoints pictures link above in my post)

Dafremen~ Great chart picture, it is quite beautiful! I am not familiar with this method- where's Leo? and the double Libra/Aries? Is it just that the unoccupied houses are omitted?

We do look alike - the resemblance would probably be more striking if I was wearing make-up, as well, in my photos.
What're your Mom's astro stats?
BTW - You're quite pretty in your photo - where was it taken?

Thank you! So are you, but I have said that before.... I am going to have to get back to you on my mom's astro aspects, as I did her chart last year, only I've done so much stuff in between, that I forget her info *hangs head in shame* But I'm emailing her, so hopefully she'll get back to me with the info, and I'll pass it along.
My photo was taken between wedding and reception, on June 5th 1999, if you can believe that. In my Hometown of Hamilton Ontario, Canada. I have changed a wee bit since then, I weigh about ten pounds less, have darker hair now, and shorter too ( I am growing it, and it is taking forever!) I will post on this thread when I have the astro info on mon maman. I thought it was pretty cool, when I noticed. I wonder if you do share aspects.......

Pixelpixie,

Its a standard chart represented in a proportional house format.

The reason you don't see Leo or Aquarius is that they are intercepted signs. An intercepted sign is a sign that falls completely within an extra wide house and therefore doesn't appear on any house cusp.

An opposite phenomenon occurs as a result, what is known as linked houses. In this case I have the 5th and 6th houses linked (Aries) as well as the 11th and 12th houses(Libra).

With the 5th and 6th houses linked I will be more suited for work in a creative field and be more likely suited to teach..children or something of that nature.

With the 11th and 12th houses linked, I will be drawn to social work, humanitarian causes and aiding my fellow man through charitable work. I'll require time by myself in order to keep outside forces from driving me off course.

Or something like that. I wouldn't know though..I'm not really a professional astrologer. Just an amateur.

Thanks for the compliment on the chart, it's a design I came up with awhile back that seemed very easy to read. I'd be happy to do one for you. Just email your stats and your preference for a natal interpretation(personality) or a natal to transit interpretation(current influences.)

No charge, just a way of spreading the happiness that astrology has brought into my life.

K, darlin', I'd love to, I don't have your email addie, But I don't mind sticking my info right here.....
Female, 10, 28, 1976, 12:20 am Hamilton Ontario, Canada....
Thank you so much for the offer..... will you post it here? I truly like it.
Thank you for sharing the proportional/intercepted aspects of the chart... I'd heard about the houses not being equal, but I'd never seen it applied before. It does make sense though.... Do you find, based uon your knowledge, that it's true in the case of teaching, and your fellow man, etc? Where your strengths lie?
As far as my preference..... I don't want to 'put you out' so, whatever is easier for you to do, or better yet, whatever you think I need to hear based upon what you see? Current transits are always good, but on the other hand, always nice to get a fresh perspective on the ever present sELF I am......... ( Mercury Libra always wants to come out to play when I try to make a decision, so it's up to you) Thank you !!!! Have a great night!

K, all I've got so far, is that my mom has capricorn sun, scorpio moon ( I am opposite, with cappy moon, scorp sun!) her ascendent, I don't know yet, but I will ammend that, I know the info is out there somewhere, as I have done it before ( damn my scatterbrain!)
Her stats that I know----
planet sign degree
Sun Capricorn 19°03'39
Moon Scorpio 02°35'00
Mercury Capricorn 04°32'47
Venus Pisces 04°41'13
Mars Pisces 07°28'56
Jupiter Taurus 11°00'28
Saturn Libra 26°41'00
Uranus Cancer 16°22'57
Neptune Libra 23°49'10
Pluto Leo 22°47'29

I'll let you know when it has been ammended, if you are still interested. Quite a few 'soft' planets, maybe that's what you both have in common?

Yep, I'll still be interested

What sits on her Asc will probably make a huge difference, but she does have her Venus and Mars in Pisces - perhaps that reflects? (I, personally, think that my Taurean Venus reflects in my shoulders and neck.) I have no Cappie (or Aries or Cancer, for that my matter - my Libran Pluto's my only Cardinal) in my chart, so that can't be it.

WOW.....

Dafremen...just a casual look see at your chart.....and its a cool layout, but even more so was that your houses and mine are very similar......and your explanation of intercepted houses was the first one I ever understood!!!! You rock!!!

I would really like a chart interpretation, but I dont want to belabor you with requests!
If you would consider doing it, I would be very grateful........

The chart offer is open to anyone that would like their chart done.

So that noone misunderstands, the chart itself will be done by me, the chart interpretation will be cranked out by Solarfire, an astrology program that I use.

The interpretations are still very comprehensive and quite good. You will never find a program that will be able to replace a competent astrologer's interpretation, however. The problem has always been trying to find a competent astrologer.

If you would like my impressions on what your chart interpretation means that'll be a million dollars.

(Just kidding, email me with anything that seems unclear and I'll be happy to clarify where I can, and look it up when I can't.)

Time invested in helping to educate people about astrology and spread the benefits of HUMANISTIC astrology in particular, is never wasted. It is probably one of the single most important keys to human understanding available to us today.

That, a friendly smile, and a sympathetic ear.

Love,

I just thought about this. I don't have a Scorp rising (mine is Virgo) but I do have Pluto conjuncting my Ascendent which does give me a semi-scorp appearance. I have had people, one was a long time astrologer, guess that I was a Scorpio, only to find out I am really an Archer.

Just a random thought.... wasn't there an instance eons ago, that shifted our actual signs, in the eyes of astronomy, but not astrology? As in, the interpretations didn't change, but the actual signs themselves did? I don't know if they went backwards or forwards, or if this has any bearing on anything, but it is food for thought. Just because, scorp is directly before sag, is all.... Maybe you spiritually 'learned your lessons' in scorpio, but thought you were so hot, you incarnated very scorpionic-ly..... I'm just totally out there now, but oh well! I mean, cuz you ARE hot... (*cough* woman to woman here....*cough*)I also agree about your brother's drool factor.

If you're talking about the precession of the zodiac caused by the Earth's wobble, it never changed the signs themselves because the signs aren't based on the position of the stars.

The sign positions are based on 30 degree increments of the Earth's orbit around the Sun, starting at the Spring Equinox, which marks 00 degrees Aries.

The stars were just a convenient marker for shaman to use as they traveled with their tribes. They didn't have the convenience of calendars or clocks back then. The stars proved close enough.

Back then, you had trillions of stars to choose from in a clear, unpolluted sky. It was a simple matter to make out something that "sort of" looked like a Ram, then a Bull, then a couple of Twins..etc.

After a year had gone by, you had 12 markers to keep astrological time by. A simple method for determining where you were in the astrological cycle.

Hi Pixelpixie,

Well, thank you!!! Hey, that is a really beautiful wedding picture you put up in the photo link.

Thanks for the compliment on my bro too. He does seem to have a following. LOL...but I know the real bro and he is a nut LOL...a cool one though.

I am not sure about the wobble, but I do think we are all a mixture of our planets along with a strong dose of sun. I am happy being a Sag, but I would also be just has happy being a sexy scorp like you!!!!
