I'm very new to this field of Astrology. But I really want to know more. All I know for the time being is that there are 12 signs. Their names and their characteristics.I really get confused when I read about things like Pluto in something.... or Mercury in something......blah,blah. I just begin to wonder whether I'll be able to know all that. How can I get started? pocco IP: Logged |

Hey pocco, welcome to the site! I'm a bit farther along in my pursuit of knowledge, so I just thought I'd pass along the name of this cool, yet simply explained book I stumbled across recently: "The Only Way to Learn Astrology" by Marion March and Joan McEvers. It does a nice breakdown of the planets' placements in different signs and houses, in a lesson-by-lesson format I think you'd enjoy and wouldn't find overwhelming. Also, for a first step in that direction, I'd reccomend you find out the birth details (place, date, and time) for people you know best such as long time friends and family. They'd be easiest to get a grasp on first. Good luck in your learning! ------------------ -K "Most people love with restraint As if they were someday to hate We hated gently, carefully As if we were someday to love"-Venus Trines at Midnight IP: Logged |

Hey Pocco:One way to look at it is to imagine the whole astrology thing is like a university campus. Each Planet is the COURSE being taught, and the Sign in the planet is one of the LECTURERS teaching that course. You can have multiple English 101 courses running at the same time. Each lecturer gives it their own special flavor. You can imagine the Houses as the DEPARTMENTS at the university. So imagine if English 101 were being taught through the English dept. That would seem to make sense. But if English 101 were being taught through the Art Dept., it would give it an interesting approach. So if we look at your Planet Venus (the Course), being lecturered by a Capricorn (serious guy), but through the Art Dept = Serious guy lecturing about love & attraction in a creative way (: with love & support, .gloria ------------------ it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness... first choose a system of astrology - western or indian. if western know ur sun sign, then know where ur moon is. finally ur ascendant. if u lie by ur inner self then good. otherwise give ur ascendant equal weightage as ur sun sign. then know were the ruler of r ascendant and ur sun sign are and their aspects. go to www.astro.com and get ur self an astro chart. bye IP: Logged |
