Hey Soulsista:Briefly, Chiron is not a planet, it's more like a planetoid/asteroid/comet thing. It's sort of like the Anchilles Heel in the chart. It's been described as the problem which never seems to go away, and the key word would be HEALING.
Whenever it is placed is where we need to find more faith and where we need work in order to deal with the world better. For example, mine is in Pisces, which means my need to develop more faith in the universe at-large. If it is in Aries, it means you need to develop faith in yourself because you feel like no matter what, the image the world has of you is not to your satisfaction.
And of course, the house it is in matters too.
There is some belief that Chiron placements are the key to whether a marriage will occur or if so, if it will be successful. For example, if your Chiron is opposing someone's Saturn it's not good, etc. There's a ton more to it, just depends how much you want to get into it.
From what I've read, Chiron stay in only certain signs for very long periods of time, and it is very slow moving, so a large chunk of people will have Chiron in the same planet.
with love & support,
