Carlo mentioned in some parts of the world, they consider a person to be more their Asc, who then happen to have a Sun sign.

An earlier thread here was talking about how the Asc was only effective for a couple or so decades, and then less powerful as time went on. Some people here agreed.

As for me, I have Asc in Taurus 29.48 degrees, and many of you have commented that I comes across more as a Gemini Asc.

Linda Goodman says no matter what planets we have in our chart, we remain true to our Sun sign, which acts like a funnel through which all the energies are expressed.

Here's a thread to encourage more debate and to share personal experiences on all this.

For example: Since my Asc is at 29.48 degrees, would I then be considered to be a Cusp Taurus/Gemini? (Sun in Libra 9.37 degrees)

Thanks,

.gloria

I think the reason they think you're a Gemini asc is because it's progressed into Gemini by now. However you sun ain't in Libra anymore so you're a Scorpio sun gemini asc

The comments will be interesting to read.

By progression, I am now a Sun in Aqua moon in Cancer with a Virgo rising.

Nope, I still don't see it.

But... but... but... my Sun in Libra is 9.37 degrees. It would only take .50 degrees to cross me into a Gemini Asc... (?)

(And I don't understand the Progression's thing at all yet...)

Gloria, do you work with your hands? Do you like lots of colour and arrange your home in a consistent organized fashion? Are you a fashionista? Do you wear bright colours or do you prefer soft neutrals? Are you casual or dress up? Do you have champagne tastes but a beer budget? or the other way around?

Do you work with your brain and hands? Do you gossip or notice what is happening with your neighbours? Do you like to travel? Are you more of visitor or a host?

I don't get it...
I thought that your horoscope depended upon planetary aspects at birth, and that future transits only affected situations but not the you-of-you, if you know what I mean.
Now I'm confused

I find progressions to be very accurate, especially aspects formed. And when the ascendant moves from one sign to another you can almost always see a small difference in appearance

Okay, so here is a philosophical question. If we are born into one sign with a specific chart, is it then obsolete as we age.

What I think of progressions is that concept is too far out there and by that I mean, by the time we learn who we are we have become something else. I was born a Sag with an Aries moon, but today I have progressed into an Aquarius with a Cancer moon? My Venus went from fun-loving Sag (which I do whole heartedly agree suits me) to a Venus in Capricorn, which I am not.

So then it doesn't matter that I am a Sag, because I am no longer that, but something else? It is just too much because it seems that a science should have some constants and if we are to believe a Sag sun is a Sag sun, then how can I believe I am now an Aquarius? Was Linda wrong? Are the other astrologers wrong? Or should we look at it in such a way that I am a Sag sun that is moving into an Aqua decanate? Basically, my Sag Sun is receiving lessons from Aqua and become more globally minded versus ego-centric while my Aries moon is learning a bit more about emotions as it is exposed to the progressed Cancer moon.

That makes mroe sense to me that I have become yet another person. LOL...think about how confusing astrology has become. A person is a Leo Sun, but speaks like a Cancer, yet loves like a Gemini with the energy of a Capricorn...oh but wait, progressed they are really now a Virgo that feels like a Pisces, but loves like a Libra....

That is nothing compared to throwing in the Vedic astrology. LOL

Sorry, my mind is about to implode hee hee

linda goodman is absolutely right about staying true to our sun signs. HOWEVER, i truly believe that like everything else in life, we change. We grow, some of us evolve, others don't and i think that nothing really is set in stone. i have my asc in 0 degrees scorpio , along with saturn and pluto rising in scorpio and i can say that from personal expirience i am far more a scorpio than i'll ever be a cancer sun. but that's because of other things other than just my asc(early childhood environment, society&etc). people should go by whatever sign most accurately and honestly fits their personality at that time, but at the same time, staying loyal to your sun sign!

Well Gloria I would say that you are a Gemini rising, only because you like to work with your brain and hands. Most Taurus risings like professions where the majority of the work, is physically based. You sound like you enjoy working with your brain more than your hands.

And a Taurus rising likes bold, bright colours and is a fashionista, likes to look good everyday.

If you had Taurus on the first you would own quite a few shoes.

That's my opinion,
Have you done a rectification, a professional one? I had one done to determine if I was a Scorp or Sag rising, it was very tough because if Sag was the rising I would have Mars conjunct the ascendant so the personality is about the same. And I have Mars in Sag already. Finally my rectification came out to be Scorpio based on life events. But it was like, a minute's difference since my mother had such a difficult birth.

Hi Natasha,

You are totally right about the rectification. I had mine done- since my rising sign seemed so far off from how I am or even how I act in new situations. My mother was not totally sure of my birthtime and was wore out by the time I came along (she was in hard labor for more than 12 hours).

I had a rectification done, based on life events, and my rising came out at Leo with a birth time that was about 2 1/2 hours before the time listed on my certificate.

The new chart makes a heck of a lot more sense to me. With the rectification I still have my 4th house Sun, but now Mars is in the 7th house ( I can really see that ) and my moon is in the 8th house - which made more sense than it being in the 7th house.

Anyway, I am still getting used to it and trying to learn, but it takes time

Hi, yes that's great, you do seem more like an 8th house moon. My placements are pretty much the same, except the Sun would be in the 7th and I feel the 6th house energy strongly. Then again I have three planets in virgo and my 7th house is ruled by mercury so it makes sense.

Hey -
I've never heard of a rectification... how do I get one?

Everyone seems to be in concert as far as my questionable Asc. More like Gemini...

My mom was under heavy drugs (back in 1961, no less) and almost died when I was born. So I have this theory that my Asc is very "Piscean" in the sense that I have a subconscious awakening through several Asc's, as I probably took a long time to fully "wake up".

To this day I'm the same way. I'm NOT a morning person, and it takes me 3 hours to fully wake up.

Maybe you are in tune to the collective, more than others, it's a wonderful thing sometimes.

I would contact a professonial, there are several, but it's based on the big events in your life, so try and find them and you can work it yourself.

By progressing from your birth of that moment, there are many resources on the web on how to do it, and you may want to post a new topic asking for help with it since I have not done it.

Also try other forums too,

Good Luck, and remember to keep the top five events in your life ready,

Natasha

Hi Natasha - thanks for the compliment - I also think the 8th house moon makes more sense. Not to mention my Saturn in Taurus then moves from the 8th house to the 9th house. Now THAT I can really see, especially when it comes to travel. Most of my best trips have been associated with business. Like Saturn, travel is for a reason and fun can be included, but all of my "vacation" types of trips have had major problems if there isn't some element of work tied into them. Weird huh.

Also, I do not have quite the sexual hangups as Saturn in the 8th does. Everytime I would read about it and posts from people that have dealt with Saturn in the 8th types I realized that is just didn't seem like me. I am too open sexually (in a selective way).

You strike me as a 6th house Sun more than a 7th house. The 6th is about service and helping and in your posts you are always lending support, providing information and building up people. It is very admirable.

Gloria,

Yeah, getting the rectified chart can be intense. I had to pony up some very traumatic events in my life and as a Sag there are things I try to escape from as far as sad memories. So, it was hard, but it made sense. I would totally recommend looking into it.

yes Pidua, the sun is iffy with me, it could be 6 or 7 but I have read the sun moves more slowly than other planets and so most likely it holds on to the previous planet longer.

Interesting.......since I am very little like my Virgo sun....I am not demure shy and retiring....in public life I am opinionated and intense, or so I am told. Yes, I am a workhorse and critical, but my appearance is not typical Virgo either. I may be more like my Scorp Asc.....

oh, such fun learning the details!!!

Yes. I know how Virgo that sounds......

Can one sign outweigh the other? I'm always mystified how little scorpion-like I am (asc), although my big three are all really tied together. I'm a gemini sun in the EIGHTH, scorpio rising and a taurus moon. My moon is directly on the DES, in direct opp. to my ASC. My Pluto (11th) is in opposition to Mars (5th). I would think all these aspects and placements would make me very scorpio-like, but the exact opposite is true, I'm a true gemini! Talk a lot, crafty, read anything I get my hands on, always have at least two things going on at once. OTOH my sun makes an aspect with everything except the moon and AC. My moon is considered unaspected (despite the AC opp), suppossedly making it strong, too, so maybe thats why the ASC is quiet?

Someone here once wrote, that we are our moon in our youth, become our sun in adulthood and turn into our moon when we age. That made sense to me because the sun is our ego, as a child you have (no right to!) an ego, everything is done to and for you. As a young adult we start to turn into our own personality, we search for and become our "true" selves. I believe we also become, as a rule, more emotional (or not) as we go into the last third of our lives.

Hi MotherKonfessor,

I was married to a Virgo that was definetly not shy or afraid to speak out. In fact, he is on TV giving interviews, teaches DNA / evidence forensic lessons to states attorney's, newbie scientists and police officers. He also travels around the US and is very well known in the Forensic world - not as much as Henry Lee, but give him about 5 more years and he will be lOL..

In any case, I think when it comes to Virgo's and their work / passion - Katie Bar the Door - you all have no problem getting out there and letting it be known what is on your mind and a providing everyone with the necessary tools to get the job done. To me, that is what a Virgo is- very professional, knowledable and great at the dissemination of information.

He also has a Gemini Moon and Venus / Mars in Leo. He is one of the most brilliant men I have ever known in my life -seriously - and that is what attracted me to him so intensely.

Now, in private, there is a complete difference in the Virgo. What shines in public seems to wane in private. I read something, specially about Virgo men, about their need to be seen in public, yet in private they want to mold, shape and form their women. During that Svengali process they lose the ability to really connect and love the person they are with - sex, emotions, intimacy takes a back seat. UNTIL..they realize what they are doing - then in typical Virgo fashion, they will correct the problem.

Facinating really...

!!Katie Bar the Door!!

BWAAAAA!!

I love that...

I know a Virgo guy with Moon in Gemini, and he's a communist and very kinky. He's too slick for his own good, and in no uncertain terms I let him know his rhetoric didn't touch me...

I'd go as far to say that he is literally a dangerous man.
