I thought it would be good to start a new topic on singletons. http://www.astrologyclub.org/articles/singletons/jupiter/jupiter.htm

Jupiter Singleton-this is good stuff if you know one

"When it is a singleton, Jupiter can manifest as a God/Deity Complex. We often findthe Messiah Complex with its sense of “I can do anything!” The flip side of the sense of one’s own “godness” (god-like qualities and abilities), includes the projection of those onto others, or guru worship. There is an enthusiasm for the god within. A young man named Stephan heard a Biblical quote, “With God all things are possible.” He was fourteen at the time and blithely replied, “I don’t know much about God, but that sure is true for me!” That is a Jupiter in Aries singleton, only Fire sign! One of the dangers with a Jupiter singleton is a bad case of hubris; that means the feeling that, “I am equal to or better than the gods!” Jupiter eventually extracts a price for that, for Jupiter is also the “wrath of God."

Moon as singleton
"An individual with a Moon singleton needs creative, positive outlets. Go by how it is a singleton in order to focus on areas of activity. Martha Stewart is flamboyantly creative in the domestic arts. Monica Lewinsky now designs purses and luxury accessories for women and is on British television discussing U.S. “culture.” An earth sign Moon singleton man is a landscape architect. "

I never figured how many singletons I actually have. You were the first one to throw some light on this topic for me Natasha. Do you think you could check it out again (my chart that is) All I need to know is how many singletons I have. Thank you!! http://www.astro.com/cgi/aclch.cgi?lang=e&nhor=1&btyp=ack&cid=b4hfilezPlHjg-u1077568725

I like Eleanor Buckwalter. I found her take on Uranus singletons to be right on

GloomySag, you don't have any singleton planets. You have 4 planets in fire, 2 in air, 2 in earth and 2 in water.

A singleton means only one planet in an element or mode. Such as only one fixed planet or one planet in air.

That is totally unfair I always thought that I did (have some singletons) And Natasha told me I have one (Saturn in Virgo)
I am getting lost here
But on the other hand - it probably means that I'm balanced and very middle class, average person - VERY BORING

LOL...it is a good thing not to have a Singleton sometimes. They can be extremely powerful and cause all kinds of craziness

Yes, you have Saturn in Virgo (mutable earth) but you also have Mercury in Capricorn as your second earth sign. You do have other mutable and cardinal signs as well.

I have Uranus in Libra as a singleton and it can be so insane. It is also a part of my t-square as it opposes my Aries moon and squares my Mercury in Capricorn.

I doubt you are very middle of the road. You obviously have a lot of gifts and insights!!! You're here aren't you

Wow! Neat!! Cool!!!

Now I know what this means, and using the link I played with my stuff-er, I mean my chart- and I have only 1 planet in Fire (Neptune..poor thing, I doubt Neptune likes being in Sag) and 1 planet in Water (Saturn.. gee, isn't that festive!)

Hmmmm....onwards towards more interpretation. Thanks again for the link.

A stanger in a strange country - wellcome to my club ( Not that I want to go back for anything else but vacation) Once I got here I started settling down and lost my insiration somewhere on the way. Has anybody seen it somewhere?
On the singletons - don't know what your Uranus does to your horoscope but you are one of the people that I look up so much to, Pid. If I were a guy or gay I would probably have asked you out by now
MK, hi, how are you?

My 12th House Pluto's a singleton (the only Cardinal - in Libra - in my chart), doubly so if you use the Equal House system (that puts my Merc in my 5th so that my Pluto's the only planet in any of my "Water Houses").

Very interestink.

Ya'll be sure to check-out that site's general sign, planet, and house descriptions, too.
The one for Pisces impressed me, with the author noticing something that so often goes overlooked:

As water is found in three distinct conditions: solid/ice, liquid/water, and gas/vapor, so Pisces is in its apparent contradictions. Though the vaporous states of fog, mist, and clouds are most frequently used to describe Piscean qualities, there are about it intermediate water states analogous to slush, sleet and pelting hail. All the water signs have an affinity for pain: pain-enduring as well as pain-inflicting. You expect it with Scorpio, are not too surprised when Cancer shows it; but, when gentle, understanding Pisces suddenly sticks in the knife and twists it, the pain hurts all the more because it seems such a betrayal! That happens at the point where Pisces has gone too long in pain-enduring circumstances and a last straw brings on the flash of anger that anticipates the next sign, Aries.

She also very nicely described the "true purpose" behind those dreaded Pluto transits:

Pluto transits burn our bridges behind us; we can never go back to who and what we were before, and most would not want to. Those foolish enough to try end up really dying, or at best, like Lot’s wife, ossifying, turning into “pillars of salt, ” lifeless physical forms. Pluto strips away everything to expose the pure, precious jewel which lies at the core of the soul. (...) The experience of Pluto’s transit of Sun, Moon or angular house can seem like dying and reincarnating in the same body. You remember the person you used to be and that person seems a stranger, so naïve, so superficial. What was before only knowledge is now wisdom, and surface sympathy has deepened into compassion.

Natasia -

I checked out that link and it passes the smell test. (hee hee) Thank you!

Dorkus -
You are right about that 7th House thing and marrying a lot. What in your chart has allowed you to evolve and surpass your mother in that arean? In other words, what's making you so rebellious. Remember not to overcompensate... but it could be a good thing!

I have a Uranus in Leo Singleton in 4th House, which helps explain why my 4th house is jinxed (along with Lilith's influence I've written about)... But this link on Uranus Singleton explained a WHOLE LOT OF STUFF that is SO true of me. WOW... (thanks again Natasia)...

I really like they way it says we are “true bizarros and weirdoes" as well as being highly creative, geniuses in our field, and extraordinary.

If you have Uranus Singleton, here's the link: www.astrologyclub.org/articles/singletons/uranus/uranus.htm

If you want the general link which leads to all the Singleton placements: www.astrologyclub.org/articles/articles.htm

okay... now here's a stupid question.. (that deserves and intelligent answer, and where else, my friends, could I get that, but here?)
I have only one air in my chart... Libra. BUT I have two planets there... my Mercury ( at the very end, just squeaking in)and Pluto. Does that mean it is a singleton, even though two planets are there? It's in my third house, BTW.
Anyone? Anyone?
THANKS!!!!

Pix- I am sorry I can't answer your question, but I would be more than happy to lend you some Air...with 5 planets in Libra I have some to spare...

.gloria...thanks for that specific link. Reading about my Neptune singleton, I can definitely see its influence on my life...
Quote.....

To whatever heights or depths a person may attain, there is always something romantic and "gothic" about a Neptune singleton personality.

Yeah, thats me in a nutshell....creepy weird how accurate it was. I am glad I have eschewed alcohol my whole life (maybe my sun knew it was a bad idea) and that I got over my "drug phase." And, being that I also have Saturn as a singleton, even more evidence of possible addictions.
Quote....
Saturn, along with Pluto, is the planetary energy most open to psychological defense mechanisms. Saturn in Water may deny any emotional needs. When it is in Cardinal signs there may be fear of beginnings and endings. When there is repression, Saturn “prices itself out of the market” by taking the attitude, “I don’t dare do that; I might not be good enough” or “If I do this and fail, I won’t be able to live with myself; so I won’t even try it.”

Thats me, Saturn in Water(Cancer) and its Cardinal.

I share these aspects with such WONDERFUL (not) folks like Jim Jones, Joseph Goebbels, David Koresch and Marshall Applewhite (Heaven's Gate cult.)

Ummmm......my chart is starting to freak me out.......awesome link tho!!

Aha- I have a singleton. My Pisces Sun is the only mutable planet in my chart. Er, thing is- don't exactly know what that would indicate. Anyone care to give me a little explanation =)?

Mother -

Where did you get that quote on Saturn & Pluto? Very very interesting. My last guy "thing" he had Cancer in Saturn too, and it sounds just like him in reference to those things.

Raine6 -

I've provided the link for everyone to look up their own Singleton interpretations. Check it out and tell us what you think.

gloomy sag,

There still might be hope that you have a singleton. In the article the author also explains that people can have singletons in HOUSES as well as signs. So if you have only one planet in a personal, societal, or universal house, than you have a singleton.

I found that after applying this information that I had two additional singletons (Moon-only planet in a societal house and Mars-only planet in a universal house) to go along with my Neptune singleton (only planet in fire).

I thought that I should pass this along since everyone seemed to overlook that part of the article.

Also, as a sidebar, everyone should look at their Sidereal charts as well to see if they have singletons there. I found that in my Sidereal chart I have a Saturn singleton (only planet in earth).

This is a great thread , I had never even heard of Singletons.

Do you count the Ascendant when checking for singletons? If so I'm fine cos my Asc is Leo (Fire), if not I have a singleton because my only other Fire is my Uranus which is in Leo in the 2nd House.

I have Mars as a singleton Air planet (it is in Gemini). It is also the only planet in my 10th house, plus my 9th and 11 houses are empty. I checked out the singleton link that Gloria provided (thanks G!) and it couldn't have been more wrong, at least in my case.

It said:

Mars symbolizes many things about which there are some very strong social taboos. Anger, rage, aggression, raw sexual energy (libido), are among them. People are fascinated by sex and violence, obsessed with speed (both fast moving and the drug), and competitiveness! What the society tries to suppress comes out from the collective unconsciousness with a vengeance. Survival issues are exaggerated. Women with it may tend to attract angry, sexual men, although many times these days women do find positive personal outlets for a Mars singleton. A client has her Mars singleton in Aquarius in the 8th house. She has had many sexual affairs, and her only son is a movie stuntman who skydives and races motorcycles. She was an officer in the military and stayed active in the reserves until retirement. She both did her Mars and projected it onto the men in her life.
There has been a general tendency in the past, and it persists in many cultures still, for there to be a remarkable gender differentiation when Mars is a singleton. It is more of a problem for women than for men. Women tend to deny, repress, and project it a lot. Women, in general, dislike being assertive, yet fear and hate the angry men they almost always attract. Men tend to overcompensate as Mr. Macho, super-achiever. They may be highly competitive in a “cut throat” way. They have exaggerated ideas of what a man should be, such as having a permanent erection and seducing every woman who attracts them. They may prefer the company of men, hang out with “the boys.”

That is just so not me. Anger, rage, agression, violence???? Attract angry, violent men??? I don't even know where to begin on how opposite that is to my life. Attracted to speed, competition, sexual acting out??? Nope, nope, and nope.

Maybe all the other aspects of my chart balance out or overshadow this one. All I know is that I've never encountered violence in any relationship I've ever had (well, I guess technically that isn't completely accurate. There was a lot of violence in my family when I was a child. But the minute I turned 18, I was out of there like a flash.) Anyway, none of the men I've been involved with in my adult life have ever been violent toward me. I'm a happy, mellow, easy-going person. I do stand up for myself if it is called for...my Leo moon and ascendant would never allow me to become anyone's doormat...but frankly, I don't put myself in many situations where there is conflict.

Any ideas why this is so off for me? I have 4 planets in water signs(3 of them Pisces, 1 Scorpio). Two planets plus Moon in fire signs (1 Leo, 1 Sag, Leo Moon). Two planest in earth signs (1 Cap, 1 Virgo).

FishKitten, maybe you are working with your Mars? The description was accurate for one Mars singleton woman I know but then it's just one description. You seem pretty assertive from your post, do you write or get assertive intellectually? Mars is about talking too, and self assertion. A Mars singleton woman may be a poet and feel comfortable with her emotions.

A Mars singleton may be a photographer, there are lots of ways to work on it.
