Hi Everybody, Lol, for once and for all, what does anyone here think that the 10th House seems to describe for us more...
Do the signs and planets in it with all of their aspects seem to tell us more about the relationship which we have with our fathers, or with our mothers instead?
I have heard that some astrologers relate it to the father, and that some astrolgers relate it to the mother.
I know another person with a loaded and somewhat complicated 10th House, and I try to pinpoint which relationship the factors indicated there could relate to for them, but the fact is, is that they have a difficult relationship with BOTH of their parents when all is said and done though, lol.
So help, if anyone wants to please chime in to help me with this question, I would love to hear your opinion on it.
Like I said, I am just on the fence about the answer to this at this point myself.
Thanks so much!

Hi, PPFM... I was under the impression that it could be either parent, depending on which one was the more dominant one in your life. Usually, that's the mom, but it could be the dad in some cases.Don't forget, it also refers to YOU, in the eyes of the world-at-large, so a complicated 10th house means a complicated carreer/professional life as well. The sun also represents the dad guy in your life, and the moon, your mom (but we ALL know that much, right?)

Yeah, and the Sun is ruled by Leo, which could me king OR queen. And yeah, whoever's most prominant in their life. But maybe this will help, in case you haven't seen it, that article Natasha linked us to:: "The Midheaven (MC): Tenth House As the Sun approaches midheaven it attains its maximum strength and glory. Correspondingly, the 10th house signifies the honourable position to which we aspire. Manilius called it the temple of glory, distinction, honour, the consummation of success and the dispensing of justice, initiating an association with the law and all forms of authority, power and position. As the pinnacle of the chart the tenth house shows the aspects of our personalities that we manifest in public - our 'professional' selves; it will indicate whether success is to be found in any venture that receives public acknowledgement. If a luminary is found on the midheaven then it is said to bring the native into the public eye, or in event charts and horaries will show circumstances that are brought to light (alternatively, significators 'under the earth' or combust tend to keep things secret and hidden). Firmicus noted that the midheaven affected all our actions and dealings with others and had the greatest influence of all, an opinion echoed throughout most of the classical writings. It is considered to be the crown of the chart and a planet placed upon the midheaven will powerfully influence any matter. Although the 4th house has general signification over parents, mothers were particularly attributed here in the 10th to distinguish them as the partner of the father. 10th House Associations through History *** Manilius: Glory; distinction; honours; popular favour, power; the rule of law and justice in the courts; alliances with foreign nations. Fame relative to one's station. Consummation of success. Wedlock. The temple of Venus. Others (classical): Career; accomplishment; honours; reputation. Wife, children. Firmicus: Life and Vital Spirit; all our actions; home, country. Professional career, all our dealings with others. Infirmities of the mind. Cardinal and the greatest influence. Al-Biruni: Government with council of nobles; absolute authority; success in business; commerce; professions. Liberality. Lilly: Honour, dignity; royalty; commanders; judges; authority. Profession. Mothers. Modern: Aspirations; career; profession; social status." IP: Logged |

The 10th-It rules the parent with obvious authority, the practical one, whose standard you live up to. Pluto and the 8th house is the parent with influences you in a subversive way so it' often referred to as feminine.Pluto in the 10th often means a feminine domineering powerful force, such as a mother, or another subversive influence, one that wants you to live out what it cannot. Saturn on the tenth means a masculine authoritative force, such as a father, or grandfather, or military officer, someone who forces you to live up to what they want. It's more punishing, Pluto is more demanding. I have yet to see a chart with Pluto in the 10th, where that individual did not have a domineering female around, but that could also mean a problem with the inner feminine side of life. When this is not reconciled the individual becomes more Plutonian in interests. With Saturn a neglect of the masculine side of the family could cause the person to turn to military pursuits. I have Pluto in the 10th but luckily I have Jupiter there for a good attitude about it (my mother), and Uranus (freedom loving). My mother is a 10 on the domineering and subversive scale, but I keep away from her physically. Pluto also rules breaking the law, the underworld, criminals, and policeman. My mother likes authority figures and I do not like those. I drove an ambulance for a while and I went through a phase, regarding my biochemistry degree-wanting to save others. But my sixth house sun prefers to be of practical help, and my Jupiter/1st house prefers direct contact with people especially fragile egos. Uranus in the 10th causes a desire for freedom, and wants to be alone to be centered. It causes a love of mysteries, puzzles, espionage, and likes to work on problems, psychology, challenges. Uranus on the 10th is good with domineering parents because they get it right away that you need your space. Luckily my father was an Aquarius. Natasha Taurus IP: Logged |
