I was looking at a list of my natal planet placements that someone was kind enough to do for me and I wanted to know how it is possible to have Venus in Libra in the ninth house and then Pluto in Libra in the tenth house. How could you have Libra in the ninth house and the tenth house? I thought that you counted the houses from your ascendant (which is your first house) and then you go from there and only one sign per house. Okay please tell me guys. Thank You.IP: Logged |

I'm sure someone else will explain this a little better, but it's sort of like taking a whole pizza pie and trying to divide it into perfectly exact same slices but can't.IP: Logged |

Your houses and signs are unrelated. For example, if you have 0 degrees virgo on your ascendant, then you will only have one sign in each house (equal house system). If you have 15 degrees Virgo onyour ascendant them all houses will have two signs within them. If your using a different house system you can have up to three signs in a house. Take a look at your own chart, and you will see how it works. Lanny IP: Logged |

There are actually about 12 different house systems, each one will slice up your pie a little differently. Which one is the most accurate one, you ask? That's what I'd like to know as well, but each time I asked, the response I got was "It's a matter of personal preference". Pleh! That doesn't help, huh?Linda used the 'Equal house system', as she didn't believe in making it more complicated than it needed to be, so if your ascendant was 3.52 Saggie, your first house would be Saggitarius, 2nd would be Capricorn, 3rd would be Aquarius, and so on. But many people feel this is just a bit too simplistic, especially for predictive astrology, which is much more accurate if you know EXACT degrees of each angle and planet. I think the house system the majority of astrologers use is Placidus. IP: Logged |

OF COURSE!!! Listen, I never knew what to think about the construction of my chart at astro.com. I see what is going on now with the various systems. If I were to liken it to sun signs it would be like being born in September does not necessarily make me a Virgo. Thanks so much astro, Lanny, and lioneye.
