I just read somewhere that Venus clashes in relationships most commonly manifest in disagreements about how to spend the money, (save for a rainy day, or live it up, live for now) and on what (music/concerts etc, or candy and beer). The timing couldn't be better, because SO and I are in a tiff right now because I bought the South Beach Diet book, 'Good Fats, Good Carbs Guide', and he went over the top about how foolhearty diet books are because diets don't work, and the authors all contradict each other, so how would you know which one is the right one, and all just a money making scam....and bla bla bla ...He has Venus in Cancer, and it seems he's rather opposed to anything that may suggest he has to give up something he loves, foodwise. My Venus is in Leo, but as I said, in another thread, it's highly influeced by other strong planets in Virgo, which it shares the 9th house with. Also, Jupiter in Virgo is transitting over that house right now, highliting self study in a very Virgo subject, nutrition. But I've always spent a good portion of my money on self-improvement products. How about you? IP: Logged |

My Venus is in Virgo -I don't buy expensive jewelry, or into designer clothes (unless they are 70% off), and I'm not into having the nice car, etc. I can be damn stylish without having to spend a fortune, and I don't mind starting trends. Well over 50% of my furniture was either picked up on the side of the road in a trash area, or bought at a garage sale or junk store. But you'd never know it. Have to buy certain beauty products which have been tried and true, and they are not always expensive, but they are definately similar to the expensive stuff, which I've bought. I invest in time for myself a great deal. Time to breath, walk, exercise, eat peacefully, meditate, sleep. And those are all free things which do for you more than any expensive makeup, clothes or jewelry can. I drink a gallon of water a day, and water's cheaper than sodas & the like. Maybe I define a quality life with being sufficiently healthy, and looking that way without trying too hard. Love to buy books, many of which I bought CHEEEEEEEEEAP at libraries, garage sales, or used at college bookstores. Same w/music CD's, I never spend more than $8 on them. Well, maybe in rare cases like some rare recordings you can't find for 50 cents at the pawn shop. Have to have my high-speed Internet connection & basic standard cable for TV. Air conditioner & heater, hot running water, and an alarm system. IP: Logged |

Something bright and upbeat. I don't buy books or music anymore, but I buy poetry books at fairs. I like to bargain, for handmade jewelry or anything artisan made, scarves, hats, and at least one new pair of high heeled sandals a year. Fabric-to sew my own drapes, and coats, dresses, and winter accessories. Cookie mix, and I like to shop cars, and cute men Natasha Taurus Cancer Moon Sag/1st house, Neptune 1st house IP: Logged |

Venus in Aquarius-Practically everything goes to books and music, or hobbies that I wish to pursue- spent my birthday money on a guitar+amplifier. Lots of it goes to clothes too *g*. Everytime I get money, I say to myself, self, use this money to buy some new clothes. But I always get bored and head to FYE or Waldenbooks instead. I spend pretty liberally. But I always have a hard time deciding between what to buy. ------------------ "Out of your depth or not, it's up to you whether you sink or swim." IP: Logged |

Yes, books...I love to buy books. Never fiction though, always about Astro, or Nutrition, or something useful. And beauty products, and entertainment, and giving ("lending") to freinds and family, mostly my little sister and my daughter. I guess my Venus in Leo does come through quite strongly as well. IP: Logged |

I have Venus in Leo and I love to bargain hunt. I love high quality leather shoes and bags (it's really important to me that I have high quality leather shoes that will last me for years). We just bought our first brand new car in October, Cappy Hubby wanted a smaller one, I wanted the big one *grin* Anyways he loves it now lol I'm the typical leo venus, generous to a fault, when I'm out with someone and they like something, I often will buy it for them, even when it's a week later, but I am also very tight when it comes to clothes for myself. I won't buy unless its way on sale, not even if I really really love it. When I was getting married, I found my dream dress, it was exactly what I wanted. But it cost $2000 and I wasn't willing to pay that for a dress that I would wear once. So I moped and let my SIL convince me into a dress that I didn't want and didn't like...but it didn't matter to me, cause I knew no other dress would make me happy anyways lol Nackie IP: Logged |

Venus in Sagittarius - 3rd house along with Neptune in Scorpio I love being able to buy what I want when I want it. Sometimes I will buy what I like when it is on sale (I love the challenge of finding a great bargain and will wait until it comes along for most things) or I will just bite down and buy it when it is not on sale.
I spend most of my money on: 1) Music and books: TONS....at least a couple of books and CD's a month. Books tend to be metaphysical or suspenseful in origin. CANDLES!!! 2) Cosmetics: Bubble bath, hair stuff, make-up, Victoria Secret Vanilla Lace anything.... 3) Entertainment: Going out to dinner, movies, travel..I spend about $2000 a year in just flying around to see my friends and family. 4) Clothes: I am a fashionista. I am usually ahead of the trends and can spot when something is going to stick around or fizzle out. I like nice clothes that aren't restrictive. SHOES!!!! 5) Art and home furnishings. I think that my Sun in the 4th house also tends to enforce my "keeping my home my castle" lifestyle. IP: Logged |

Venus and Merc. conjunct in Venus in the 8th. I love books, candles, nice clothing but like gloria, I shop the 70% off racks... I love visiting health food stores and finding delicious treats...definitely a comparison/bargain shopper, but then I'll go spend $5 on six ounces of 'gourmet' soy cheese (it's yummy!).Does the 8th house placement indicate secret purchases? Oh. Yeah. Indeed. Don't peek into certain drawers at my place. And some secret chocolate now and then too... I think I'm very generous with those I love. I wish I were better at saving money, and investing. I'm not rich, but I want to be. Moon-Jupiter almost-exact-conjunction in the 5th house...part of an out-of-element grand trine with my Aries Sun and Leo rising. IP: Logged |

You know lioneye, I think your SO is right about all the diet books...but I don't know what the big deal is. I love reading all those books, even when I know they're not for me. Even those that work are only quick fixes for most people. But still, it's only a book. At the very most, you probably paid a retail of $35 CAN, and that's only if you didn't find it on sale. And $35 for a bit of pleasure? So long as the bills are paid and there's food on the table, who cares? IP: Logged |

Trill, it was only $6.98 CAD ...and it's just a book with tables of food item and their carb/sugar/fat content, and a rating "good, limited, very limited, avoid" (based on the South Beach Diet principals) It's a referrence book, is all it is. He does have a point, I know, about "flavor of the week" fad diets, but he's just SUPER defensive about the whole subject ...like, over the top defensive...MR. Crabby Venus does not appreciate the threat to his favorite 'happy times' foods, is all. Also, you said "Venus and Merc. conjunct in Venus in the 8th"...think you mean conjunct in (I'm guessing)Pisces in the 8th" (based on Leo rising, which I think is what you are..) I have Venus in Virgo and my spending/shoppings habits sound EXACTLY like astro junkie's!! I go for cheap and thrifty unless I have tried and true products I MUST have (since I found them to work). Books and music are a huge portion of my spending IP: Logged |

Yeah, it's Leo rising, but Venus and Merc are in Aries. oops. But my Mars is Pisces.I get what you're saying...that the Cancer part of him who loves good food and might feel threatened if you take it away makes him react crabbily when The Woman of His Life buys a book that might inhibit his eating habits. But boy do all those books make my head swim. As a vegetarian, none of the Atkins/South Beach books really work for me...and I can't imagine giving up fruit!! And whole grains! IP: Logged |

Well, I went on Atkins last year and I lost 80 pounds. It slowed down during winter because I went out less and cheated more(bad me) but the weight basically fell off a few pounds at a time. I hear South Beach is similar. I bought the atkins book only because the info was already on the website for free and $7 for a reference book isn't bad at all. I don't think the diet suits everyone though. It works but some people just can not stay away from sweets.Anyway, my Venus is in Aquarius. I like to buy lots of New Age/Occult books, weird crystals and video games. And right now, I'd like to shave my head but I won't because I know I'll regret it later.<-random thought. IP: Logged |

Yeah, it feels pretty good. I was sort of expecting some sort of personal transformation from it, but I still feel bad inside. I'm reprogramming the inside now. LOL.I really haven't done much clothes shopping. I was a 26, now I'm a 14 but still, I think I'd like to be a 10 and my folks won't buy me anymore new clothes until I'm done with my diet. My mom was annoyed to buy me hipsters when I was a 20, only to lose more weight and have them be too big. LOL. I just lost 4 more pounds this morning. I was walking a lot yesterday. Still, I like buying New Agey stuff and crystals. I saw this gorgeous azurite and moonstone necklace yesterday. $65. It's soo tempting. I want a statue, a staff of Hades necklace, some movies, I have an Amazon wishlist just building up. I went to a job interview yesterday but i don't know if I'm going to be hired. My nerves are on edge. Heh. Venus in Aquarius, conjunct my Aquarian Sun, in retrograde. LOL. IP: Logged |

Lynx - from someone who has consulted with some damn good Ph.D'ed psychologists, try HYPNOTHERAPY...I know! I know! I thought the same thing at first too. But what if you could go to sleep and have a dream which solved all your problems? And let's say you have full control over the dream as you're working it out. And then you REMEMBER the dream and can refer back to it. Well, that's what it's like. You know about Alpha & Beta brain waves, eh? My deal was to work through some emotions I have had to bury and no amount of intellectualization could touch it, until the channel of hynotherapy. Try it! You even need only a few sessions and that's it! Not years and years. .gloria ------------------ it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness... IP: Logged |

My Venus is in Scorpio, I don't want to tell you what I buy because I want to keep it a secret! haha just kidding! actually I don't know where this part fits into things. I like to buy flowers, candles, clothes, cd's, books and the odd thing for the house, if it fits the decor. I don't know if any is because of my Venus in Scorp. or is it all my Libra? IP: Logged | |
