Greetings...The opinionated Astrologer speaks:
I think it depends upon what you are charging for your service, and what the client expects.
I read in a pretty predictive, non psycho-babble sort of way, offering concrete advice or guidance based on the astrological considerations in effect.
However, I do make frequent use of Horary techniques with my natal astrology, and I know that is not everyone's forte.
If I were to go to an astrologer that wanted to heap my plate full of mythology, I'd be rather bored and feel as though I were not getting what I paid for in an astrological consultation. I already KNOW who I am, I do not need an astrologer for that.
So perhaps it would be best to discuss what the client's expectations are before you go trying to give everyone the mythological story of their life.
This is a trend I find very disturbing in modern astrology. In trying to prove that astrology is a science, we attempt to become "counselors" or astro-psycho-therapists. Unless you are trained in those fields, I would try to forget that approach.
Ask the client what it is they expect, and provide that service if you are able. Not all astrologers have the same interests or skill sets. If they want the mythology or the psycho-babble, they will ask for that. Feel them out, if they express an interest in such a reading then certainly you are free to go there.
I think giving the client what they want is much more tangible and beneficial than trying to "give a reading" that begins and ends in the same fashion for everyone.
Make any sense?
Blessings...
A
