I've got transitting Saturn about to conjunct my natal Mars. Has anyone here lived through this? How did it go? What happened, or didn't happen? How did your attitudes about sex reflect it, if at all?

What about Saturn transits through your first or 8th house? (would Saturn through the 1st affect sexuality?)

Transitting Saturn is in late Cancer right now. Anyone have late cardinal planets, or house cusps?

I've got a few theories about how it may effect Cancer planets, if anyone has any.

Hi Lioneyes,

Just went through this (last year).A lot of repressed (saturn) anger (mars).While transitting saturn was conjuncting natal mars (7) it set off a square with natal mercury,(3) and semi squares with the Moon (5) and Uranus (8) (these 2 planets square each other). I saw it coming and tried to sleep through it and remain calm but Saturn will make you deal with the problem and when it did there was an explosive emotional (Moon) reaction. with biting sarcasim (mercury). Uranus fueled and distorted the fire. It involved my relationship Saturn T. the 7th H. All in all it sucked.

The last time Saturn transitted my 8th house it made a conjunction with natal uranus in the above mentioned aspects (setting off all 4 natal aspects) There were so many personal close deaths in my family. This is not to say that when Saturn transits the 8th people die, consider the aspects. I started out a little girl and ended up(reluctantly) a woman.

Saturn in the 1st H. didn't really effect sex so much as I literally got rid of my old life and began another. This was my saturn return and maybe a little self doubt but relatively easy since saturn is already in the natal 1st H. and I had learned to live with it a long time ago (it didn't learn to live with me). I had a lot of dental work done during that period and began wearing glasses.

You know its hard when Saturn goes through your sign (karmic period) but its even harder with the opposition, because nothing goes right. You can put your best foot forward time after time and you will still be passed over. This grates on confidence big time untill (after 2-3 years of this) You begin to believe it, REALLY believe it. Then its gone, like it was never there. It takes another year just to believe it and get over being shell shocked.

I didn't look today but saturns not even at 10 degrees yet so its still early, BUT its already gone through its retrograde period in early Cancer so its going to concentrate on mid-Cancer now (10-20 degrees) Early cardnal signs are in for a little relief. Thank God. As always I hope this will help somebody.

Hi lioneye

This was a very thought-provoking question. Regarding transiting Saturn touching natal Mars...I went through this last year too.

It was during this period that I was dealing with the scare we had about my (then) 17 year old daughter's abdominal growth that resulted in surgery. There were tests...and waiting, more tests...more waiting. By the time she had the operation, transiting Saturn was almost exactly conjunct my natal Mars (4th house). Primarily the effect it had on me: virtually EVERYTHING ELSE was put on hold...while I stayed by her side and nursed her back to health. She came through fine, there was no malignancy, and her recovery was swift once she came home; but I'd say pretty much of the whole Summer last year went to getting my kid back on track, and my thoughts didn't go much past that goal.

I have 2 other planets near the end of Cancer (Jupiter and Uranus, both in my natal 5th)...so I'll have to wait and see what happens when Saturn meets up with them.

Regarding the other Saturn transits you mentioned (again, quite thought-provoking): when it passed through my first house, I was pretty depressed; I began to develop a kind of cynical attitude towards the world and life in general. This feeling did not last. When Saturn transited my 8th house it was also my Saturn Return. Believe it or not, looking back now, it was one of the happiest times of my life. "Things" had become settled -- I had reached some important goals and was feeling very secure and content. Unfortunately, those feelings didn't last either.

I agree with lalalinda re: Saturn's transits through houses combined with natal aspects. For me...it was when transiting Saturn was OPPOSING my 8th house natal planets that I had several losses by death, including my Mother. My natal Moon (Mother) is in the 8th house and the day she died transiting Saturn was opposite my Moon within 1 degree AND transiting Pluto was exactly opposite my Sun, to the degree. It was quite sudden (she died in her sleep) so you can imagine, it turned our lives upside down and changed us forever. Saturn and Pluto together...POW.

Anyway...hope this helped.

Twin Lady,

Wow, that was a really great post. Its so true about the 8th house being triggered by saturn (and not actually having to have it transit that house) when a close personal death happens. For both of us Saturn triggered the Moon. Your natal 8th house moon (transitting saturn opposed it) your mom died.

One of the people I lost when saturn transitted my 8th house (conjuncting Natal uranus and square Natal 5th house moon) was a child, through crib death. How much more uranian (unexpected) can you get? I didn't even know that there was such a thing, thats why I say I started out a little girl and ended up (reluctantly) a woman. I went through a brief period of hating God and the whole world, but I eventually reconnected with my faith (in God) and through that was able to accept what was happening. That was not the only death that happened (many that year, including my dad) It just had the most profound affect on me.

Another exellent point you made was with Saturn conjuncting Natal mars (your 4th) and your childs illness. That period of being in limbo (having to wait for the results) There it is, mars (the problem) and saturn (the lesson). I can so see the 4th house (home and family) being tested. I am so glad everything worked out for your family as I know the scare you must have gone through.
Incidently, the year I lost so many people progressed moon was transiting my natal 12th house. Light and love to you

P.S. did you notice that even though it was transiting Saturn and Natal moon (and 8th house) that triggered the events (death) in our lives there was the additional aspects of Pluto (for you) and Uranus (for me)?

Wow, guys...I mean DAMN, you're scaring the bejeezus outa me! When Saturn is conjunct my Natal Mars, in the 8th, it will ALSO be opposing my Natal Moon in the 2nd. ...And I am becoming concerned about MY mommy now.

Ah well...the teacher determines when a new lesson begins and when it ends, not the pupil.

Thanks for sharing your very painful, albiet transformational experiences of Professor Saturn in the school of life, when he has another malific assisting him. Brutal.

Thank you

Lioneyes,

How close is your moon and mars opposition? For me moon and uranus are exactly square. (within a few minutes).
Also looking back now I see how sex was affected while saturn conjuncted mars, I just shut down and went into a self imposed celebacy. I was not going to work out my relationship problems through sex. (it wouldn't have worked anyway). I'm guessing that with all that was going on in Twin Ladys life, sex was put on the back burner also. I've gone through the opposition from saturn with natal moon and my mother is still alive, so don't think that. We're all so different and unique what works for one won't work for another, its the whole combination.

Hi, LLL
It's got about a 7 degree orb, that opposition. Same with the moon to sun/merc. opposition. The uni-Verse was clever enough to place my moon right in between the excact opposite spot of my sun/merc conj. and my Mars, so that it opposes both with about a 7degree orb. (I say "both" because I consider my sun and Mercury to be one, since they're in such a tight conjunction - one hybrid planet, know what I mean?) Blah! rambling...

Yes, of course you have to consider all facters, not just one...but I'm still bracing myself for when it becomes exact. The trick with Saturn is, as I'm beginning to realize, that as long as you're prepared, and you procede with caution, it shouldn't hurt too much, and could in fact result in some really concrete rewards.

I read some of the interpretations of Mars/Saturn aspects through that link that Archer provided (thanks, Archer ), and it really could be a good transit if you harness it well. A person may be more combative that usual at this time, (WHO MOI???) but if it's for a good cause, how can that be a bad thing? The trick is to procede with caution, and channel the physical energy with a sense of purpose. In the 8th house? That could mean so many different things...

It is a potentially scary transit. I'm glad to see that people do LIVE through it. Anybody else have Natal Mars in the 8th house, and have also lived through a transitting Saturn conjuncting it? Anybody left standing?

lioneyes,
lets see if I've got this straight, Your a full moon birth(?) with the moon acting as a midpoint(?) with planets at 7 degrees on each side(?) its ok if its the opposition, if this is it that degree will be sensitive. Have you ever had something happen to you, and look it up in your ephemeris only to find it doesn't jive? its probably a midpoint aspect , lets say its in aquarius (it that it?) well that degree will be sensitive in all the fixed signs. Let me know if I'm on the right track. I'm trying to picture it.

lalalinda,

I'm so sorry for your losses; light and love also to you! I do know what you mean about losing several people. Including my Mother, I lost 4 within a 6 month period; one of them being a very close friend I'd only met 2 years prior, and whose presence in my life made a real difference in a positive way -- she died eight days after my Mother did.

Something in your post that blew me away though was the reference to Uranus and the unexpected. I went back and checked and realized this: On the day my Mom died, as said before transiting Saturn was opposing my 8th house natal Moon and transiting Pluto was exactly opposing my Sun. WHAT I JUST NOTICED was the fact that TRANSITING URANUS in my 12th was exactly squaring my NATAL 8th house SATURN, exactly squaring my natal 2nd house Venus AND OPPOSING my natal 6th house PLUTO!! What's that called, a Grand Cross? And in the Fixed mode to boot.

NOW! Having said that...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
lioneye,
I was a little concerned that sharing my experience might scare you...and I am sorry if it has. Please keep in mind that everyone's chart is unique (note that Grand Cross I just mentioned that included both Uranus and Pluto in addition to Mars and Saturn), everyone's situation is unique; and my experience or lalalinda's will not define yours. You more or less said it yourself actually; it seems Saturn will bring the lessons he deems most necessary at that time. For example:
I experienced these transits BEFORE concerning Saturn, Mars, the Moon, 8th house, oppositions, etc. and here's some of what happened then:
As transiting Saturn opposed my natal Moon in the 8th...nothing outstanding AT ALL, certainly nothing happened to my Mom.
When transiting Saturn joined my natal Venus and opposed my natal Saturn simultaneously...I -- uh -- lost my virginity to the person who eventually became my first husband. Not too shabby, eh?
Then, when transiting Saturn hit my natal Mars...I got involved in a whirlwind love affair with a Mars-ruled Aries guy, whose natal Mars happened to conjunct my natal Saturn in the 8th and oppose my natal Venus. Go figure?? The relationship ended painfully because he ultimately was not faithful, BUT in the longrun I had no regrets because the time with him opened my whole world up, leaving me changed for the BETTER.
I shared this with the hope of your understanding that these transits, while they sound potentially negative/scary, aren't necessarily so. Again, I hope this helped.
Yes, Twin Lady, thank you. It certainly HAS helped. I still have no idea what to expect, but it won't necessarily be doom and gloom...good to know. I also read how, when Mars joins forces with Saturn, a person could move mountains if they so choose. It can really help one to concentrate their actions with the focus on achieving a goal. The accomplishments that can come out of this planetary pairing are typically very concrete, just by the physical, tangible nature of both planets. In my 8th house....maybe I'll buy house during that transit? But it will be opposing my moon in the second...probably not a good time to buy a house. I dunno. All I can think of with it being in the 8th, is that I'll be really sexually controlling, or controlling of some else's money, or ...or....I dunno what else. I guess we'll see.
LLL, yes, I'm a full moon baby. My moon is at 8.22 Aquarius, my Sun is at 15.26 Leo, Merc is at 15.57 Leo, Mars is at 1.26 Leo. (then Venus is way at the other end of Leo, at 28.48, making no major aspect to the moon)
When I said midpoint, I ment right in between what would be a perfect opposition to either sun/merc or mars.
Actually, another question for you ladies....how long before the conjunction became exact did you start feeling/seeing the effects of it? Does it start to make itself known before it even gets within orb? Also, how long does it linger afterwards? Just curious.
It just crossed over the threshold of my 8th, which starts at 8.40 Cancer, and I've already had to deal with issues with taxes (PAYING them), other peoples money (getting screwed over that way), and some to do with that other subject that the 8th is famous for.
lioneye,
A few years back I had an astrological mentor who told me this: As a transiting planet approaches the natal one to form the aspect, the effects intensify until the aspect becomes exact...and AS SOON AS the transiting planet begins to move away from said natal planet (this, whether a conjunction, square or opposition), the effects begin to lessen considerably.
In reference to my own experience last year with transiting Saturn touching my natal Mars, here is the "timing" of the events:
Transiting Saturn was approaching my natal Mars within about a 9 degree orb when the problem with my daughter's health was first discovered. The day she had the surgery Saturn was within 2 degrees of my natal Mars. The first couple of weeks afterwards were tough on all of us...as Saturn was going over my natal Mars in the 4th, AND incidentally forming a square to my daughter's natal Venus in HER 4th house and an opposition to natal Neptune in her 1st. <~~~ Strange about Neptune, because no one knew for sure exactly what was going on until she was actually opened up; they couldn't be certain of anything!
However, WITHIN LESS THAN A MONTH...just as Saturn passed my Mars, then Melinda's Venus and Neptune, she was doing very well; her recovery was wonderfully swift (I still attribute some of that to the support I received right here at LL ). Anyway...it was the most intense emotionally, spiritually and physically those last few degrees before and as Saturn "made contact" with my Mars. BUT, I like what you shared from the info you read about "Mars joining forces with Saturn, moving mountains, concentrating their actions, focus on achieving a goal"...this was absolutely true! As I mentioned in my first post, my ENTIRE FOCUS last summer was in getting her through the ordeal and on the road to healing. She received a clean bill of health in August, just as Saturn moved away from all the natal planets...mine by 3 degrees, and Melinda's by 1 and 2 degrees, respectively. She's getting a checkup on the 26th of this month, so we'll see if she's still good (keeping fingers crossed!).
Oh, BTW...you asked about length of time: Again in our situation from the first trouble (late April) through the most intense period (mid June to early July) to the clean bill of health (mid August)...a little less than a total of 4 months.
Understanding some of this in advance I believe will give you a real advantage lioneye, whatever comes to pass for you. And remember, it may not be all that much anyway, as it wasn't for me the first time around. Take care.
