when does sun 'actually' change its sign? around the 23rd as mentioned in western astrology or around the 14th of a month as mentioned in indian astrology.a festivel called 'uttran' marking the entrance of the sun in capricorn is celebrated every year in india on the 14th of jan. this gives me doubt about western astrology. which one is true. any scientific evidence? Greetings Archer...Well.. the answer is it depends. Are you using the Sidereal system or the Tropical system? Both would be correct, but the one is based on the actual constellations and the other is based on a division of the ecliptic. Just pick a system and then stick with it... then your results will be in context. One thing you cannot do is mix the two systems. One system is intrinsically no better than the other. It depends upon the training and ability of the astrologer. A good Vedic astrologer and a good Western astrologer should come up with similar information, after all, they would both be reading for the same person, though their methods may differ. Good Luck... Greetings...Sidereal. I thought that was the way I phrased it, but perhaps I was unclear. But.. just because it's based on the actual constellations does not make it more valid than the Western system. But that has probably as much to do with what I call metaphysical Law as what you would call science. Blessings... Greetings...Pick a system! Then buy an ephemeris, that will tell you when the Sun actually changes signs in your system of choice. Or you could buy a computer program. Some people here frequent that astro.com Personally I have no luck with it, but I do own almost all the high end commercial astrology programs, so I don't have to trifle with astro.com. Good Luck...
