How many Knowflakes have the 7th house ruled by an air sign or Uranus or Mercury?

Just curious how you approach commitment and devotion as an idea and in relationships?

Thanks,

Well, Mine is ruled by Aquarius,(it is empty of planets) so though Uranus is conjunct my Sun in Scorpio in my fourth, Uranus rules my seventh, and it is an air-ruled house.
You know already how I view commitment..
Many layered and tangled.
I'm interested in your opinion though.

Multi layered and tangled is a good description.
(my own is Gemini/Mercury/7th),

My theory?

Since air is about ideas and ideals, the 7th house is interested in shared devotion. Partners need to share a common cause. Communication is part of the commitment.

Admiration is just as important as love.

The challenge is that you can see yourself in every role, the wronged wife, the other man, the husband, the other woman, the divorcee, the young bride. Every role society holds up has some fascination. The future is everything, but since it's made up of today which is so tangled it always seems unreachable.

Probably the solution is to the live in the now, not thinking about the future or past.

Is this part true for you?

Well... Physical love is a very important to me, but at the same time, so is connectedness. I need to feel honoured as a person on a deep level. More than just physical, but I also need physical. It can be had ( and had well) with anyone I suppose, but connection goes beyond pleasure. It is a soul tickle.

nothing like a good soul tickle, that's for sure! My 7th house is ruled by an air sign, Gemini, same as yours, Natasha. I also have Mercury conjunct sun, so it's not just what I expect in a mate, but who I am as well. How does it manifest for me in relationships? Well, you know the obvious thing, which is that I tend toward the other Mercury ruled sign. But I do expect some mental dexterity from my mate. I love a funny guy. I love a clever guy who notices things, and comments on them big or small. (I'd rather he did this only for the good things about me, of course)

but Natasha, you're wondering about yourself, and what YOU are like in relationships, is that right? Wouldn't it be more telling to look at your own Venus sign? Because the 7th house tends to describe what our mates are like, traditionally.

I do have a Uranus ruled moon, though. It's the emotionally "detached weirdo" influence. lol...

Gemini on the descendant here with mars in the 7th. It really is true what they say about the brain being a sexual organ. I never have been one to surrender to blind passion (and I have plenty of fire) But tickle my brain and I'll do cartwheels for you (naked) . As far as commitment goes in my youth I was probably commitment challenged "forever" just didn't do it for me. Now is a different story. We all grow up, it just takes some of us a little longer.

Hey Natasha...you know my 7th house is ruled by Libra, and since my Pluto falls in the early degrees of Scorpio, it also sits here. Committment? Well, I give my heart pretty easily away in my head, but it takes a bit longer for me to be comfortable wth the other person enough to let them into my physical 'bubble'. The quickest way to get my attention is to be verbally quick and intrigue my curiousity by being a bit mysterious (give me a puzzle to solve or investigate about you). I feel very hurt if someone flirts seriously, and then I find out they are already in a romantic partnership...the deception totally kills my trust in us having any future, friend or otherwise.

I have Aqua on the 7th. I like interesting, intelligent unique men. Maybe some day I'll find one.

Mars in Pisces is in there too, for a while in my younger days I was attracted to men who were also tragic.

lalalinda did indeed nail it on the head...the intellect is very important, but so is physical love...though that is really 8th house, is it not?

Good point Trillian, mars in pisces wants to connect on a spiritual level (for sex) Because Mars rules our sexual drive it shows how we get there, what is exciting for "us"
Personally, I always had a problem with partners that were "too intense" sexually. Thats just uncomfortable (it make me self conscience, I find it really hard to relax anyone else?)
When your mars falls in your partners 8th house, they are sexually attracted to you, they desire you. You excite them. But when you mars falls in thier 2nd house (venus house)they want to own you, not literally but they want to make it permenent. Think of Taures.

I was under the impression that it's actually the other way around, that the house that your planets land in, in your partner's chart...well, that house is said to have 'captured' that planet. Which means, when that person is interacting with you, their planets express energy mainly in the subjects described by the houses they fall in. So if a man's Mars lands in your 8th house, you'll bring out his action mode in 8th house subjects. Of course this probably means he'll want to boink your brains out, but the 8th house is much more than just that. He also may get angry about monies owed to you, or monies that YOU owe, (ie debts), or he may be constantly "investigating" you, actively trying to root out your secrets, or actively trying to reform/transform you. He may be motivated to 'merge' with you on a profound level. The 8th is also the house of death, so it wouldn't be surprising to find cases where a person had been killed by an individual who's Mars aspected or landed in their 8th house.

It's a spooky house, the 8th...not mearly about sex, remember?

lioneye,

Great description about your take on what happens when a man's Mars lands in your 8th House in Synastry there!

So, what do you personally think might be the effects of it when a man's Mars lands in your 12th House though?

Especially when his own Mars also resides right in the 12th House in his own natal chart as well?

Thanks so much for any / all of the great input you can offer me here!

lioneyes,
You're absolutely right, I was speaking of the sexual want of mars falling in your 8th house. Unless you have some water (depth) in your chart this is an uncomfortable place to be. A lot of Karmic implications here (especially if thier Saturn falls here) And there is the very real possibility of harm. (with mars)
Where thier planets fall in your chart is the area (what house) that is brought to the forefront.

What if in Synastry, you have each other's Moon's in each other's 8th?

Hi A.J.

Good question, moon in your partners 8th house and vice versa. Definately a past life connection, could be a love connection or the maternal bond. Because the moon represents mothers and children. Look for saturn aspects to the ruler of the 8th house, yours and his.

ok - interesting - let's see...

Ruler of my 8th is Jupiter
Ruler of HIS 8th is the Sun

In Synastry -

Jupiter Square Sun
Jupiter Trine Venus
Jupiter Square Mercury
Jupiter Opp Mars
Jupiter Square MC

Sun Square Moon
Sun Square Saturn
Sun Sextile NN

Is there something that stands out?
