I used to chat, but found it rather boring. Here we can state the subject and whether we find it interesting state an opinion or idea. Chating is too fast for me and a little too light I guess. Plus, my work has java blocked so I can't Not that I would... I just find forums easier. You can also check if anything's been said over several days or months instead of the now. I guess each to their own.
