Hi Calwes,

I'm not surprised you've done well in maths...my father had Merc in Pisces and he's an absolute whiz at algebra...it requires the the kind of abstract thought I, with Merc in Aries, can't seem to get my head around. (I remember at school having such difficulty with a + b...let alone quadratic equations.)
On the other hand, my father does do some pretty funny things that don't exactly put his common sense in a better light. Like, he bought a pair of beige and brown two-tone shoes once for £2. He was so chuffed at the fact that he'd got a bargain. However, the shoe that had been on show had bleached over time in the sun, so it was several shades lighter than the other. So what did he do but put the darker one in the sun whilst he was sunbathing in the garden. My mother and I walked past, and I asked why on earth he was sunbathing with a single shoe next to him. My mother (with Merc in Sag) explained to me through fits of laughter.
You see, that type of thinking is on a completely different plane to Mercury in Fire signs. But, as I've noted, it has its plus points, and is equally valid!!!
LOL

Well, uh, if it helps, I have Moon, Venus and Jupiter in Pisces, and am stupendously untidy - at least in the only room of the house my husband allows me to be untidy in (he's an Aqua with Venus in Capricorn - loves parental-type lecturing). To keep organised I rally my Virgo ascendant forth and yes, make lists (with tick boxes), break down large tasks into manageable portions, and write appointments into my diary STRAIGHT AWAY. Also pay bills immediately.
However - although I am horrendously messy by nature, I always know where everything is. When I tidy up, I can't find a thing.
It may be heredity - astrology may have nothing to do with it, of course. My father, another Aries, was likewise always untidy - at work - my mother wouldn't let him get away with it at home!
Calwes - perhaps latch on to someone who is naturally neat and orderly, if you can stand it. You will find yourself tidying up just to avoid their moaning!!!

I have Mercury and Venus in Pisces, as well as it being my sun sign 3-3-78. I'm pretty much like a sponge around people. I pick up the feeling and mood. It's kinda hard sometimes, but it has it's good points.

Hi Calwes! Nice to meet you. Theres a simple answer to that actually...throw in my Virgo rising, and a Capricorn moon. It does make creativity a bit harder though!

I also have Pisces in Mercury (and Venus).
When I was a child, I was pretty good with Maths...that was long ago. I also used to be quite organised...but that was long ago too
Now I am "a bit" chaotic, but I think I find some order withing my chaos, if you see what I mean...

Julia parker in astrologer handbook said about coping with mercury in pisces

' forgetfulness is a characteristic of mercury in pisces. Make a list of every thing you do and work through the list allowing your self plenty of time but sticking carefully to a timetable.

I have Mercury in Pisces (opposite Pluto in Virgo). I go through phases of being organized, and being really dis-organized. Usually when I am disorganized it means I am in the middle of a creative spell, and I'm working on art or design or something like that. It doesn't really bother me too much, when my creative juices are waning is when I get my life organzied.
I'm not at all mathematic!
Here is an article about Mercury , and I'm including this here because it says GREAT things about Mercury in Pisces!!!

This comes from Reverand Alice at Lifeprints for Living http://www.lifeprints-for-living.com/

Mercury
Mercury heads the Consciousness column, which might be called our internal computer. In that sense by sign it marks the type of consciousness that we have.

Aries: primal, instinctive, decisive, one pointed, identity-orientation
Taurus: physical, practical, body/need-oriented, evaluation–tactile orientation
Gemini: relational (in the generic sense), contrast and comparison–visual orientation
Cancer: fluid, growing–from dependance toward independence–feeling orientation
Leo: bright, learns lines well, image/reputation-oriented Virgo: orderly, good recording skills, service-oriented
Libra: reflective, social, asymmetrical harmony and/or symmetrical balance
Scorpio: intense, deep, passionate
Sagittarius: enthusiastic, broad, high-minded
Capricorn: mature, serious, goal-oriented–Graduate Degree in Consciousness
Aquarius: original, unusual, genius–Master’s Degree in Consciousness
Pisces: PhD in consciousness, processes so fast as to appear not to think–just knows

Mercury is a dual/twin energy. Physically it represents both the brain and the senses, specifically the eyes. Often aspects tell something about our vision. Negative ones may show visual dyslexia or other seeing problems. Ultimately, it is the perceptual or data enter function. Think of the phrase, “I see....”

Fire Mercury can be almost greedy for learning, especially self-awareness. Aries is a survivalist first, and some remain fixated there. Most go on to explore the new and untried. They are thought pioneers who frequently become seed beings.

Leo Mercury is less so, being vested in heritage, role, and image. Leo seeks to correctly speak the proper lines.

Sagittarius will take an idea and run with it. He is forever crossing boundaries of belief as he follows principles to distant applications.

Earth Mercury thinks practically. Ideas must hold substance, must be productive.

Taurus is value oriented, a creative mind, fixed on practical issues. She will not waste time on ideas that have no profit potential. Taurus may build mental structures, working slowly, idea by idea.

Virgo is service and use oriented. Ideas must serve a useful purpose. As Virgo Mercury evolves, she may discover that the most useful information is intuitive.

Capricorn is oriented to practical wisdom, to ideas that have proven to be practical and valuable. Capricorn Mercury is also a good manager, so may combine logical and intuitive processes. Air Mercury shows a mental, often an abstract, approach to life.

Gemini twins refers to data-in, data-out. A very active mind that sometimes runs out the mouth! Gemini collects information, but may do little with it. Encyclopedic mind.

Libra is about mental balance or imbalance. Their ability to see both sides of an issue is legendary. It frequently interferes with choice-making. The balance intended is between right and left brain, which married can form the union known as conscious channeling. When this occurs, the mind may shift levels quite seamlessly.

Aquarius is about original thinking. Often this means future-oriented, as these genius minds are ahead of their times. From this comes the notion of a fine line between genius and insanity. Sometimes called insane because of their ability to draw inspiration and invention from the distant realms of time and space. A few actually create that. It is critical for Aquarius to accept its differences, to realize that its originality is what keeps life evolving.

Water Mercury is fluid and feels its way through by a thinking-style that can look more like the Moon than Mercury. Most channel information from invisible sources, rather than perceiving it from visible ones.

Cancer Mercury is clearly Moon dominated. This means that thinking is conditioned by needs. Information seems to flow to natives, as they need it.

Scorpio Mercury is powerful, and penetrating. It is quite adept at calling up information at will. Most can read people, see through pretense. They can also be powerful, almost hypnotic, speakers. This comes from the ability to concentrate and control mental focus into a tight beam.

Pisces Mercury knows no limits or bounds. It acquires information by osmosis, soaking up considerable subliminal information. Having mastered the full spectrum of consciousness, the mind is no longer sharply divided. Right and left brain functions may blend to such an extent as to make logical process so fast that it blurs

Forstudents of consciousnesslook to the signs of Mercury, Chiron, Jupiter and Neptune, and their relationships/aspects. This shows something about how you process information. It is important to notice the relationship between houses 3, 6, 9, 12 and these planets. This will show how your conditioning does, or does not, support your ability to expand your awareness. Some lessons can be adapted. Others must be rewritten–usually using affirmations.
