OK - let's focus on the bright and positive side of the approaching Mercury going Retrograde - POSITIVE! POSITIVE!

"Get ready to retrograde! From August 9 to September 2, Mercury goes retrograde, and if anything can go wrong, it just might -- unless you're prepared, that is. A Mercury retrograde may try your patience, but if you plan ahead, you can actually make it work to your advantage!

"The Good
This is actually an excellent time to finish projects and focus on yourself. You could almost look at it as a respite from the rest of your life. Pull out your to-do list and start getting things checked off -- finish organizing your closet, fix up your kitchen, catch up with old friends, finalize that major project at work -- and spend some time just for you. Try meditation, a soak in the tub or find some other way to pamper yourself."

wow - It's going to wreak havoc in my 4th and in my sweetie's 8th. Hmmmm....

"Mercury retrograde in the 8th house:

This is the time to pay attention to your dreams and your subconscious hunches, particularly those which refer to people or events from the past. Review insurance policies, wills, and any other jointly held accounts. Draft changes to policies or wills or look into making changes regarding jointly held accounts. Tie up loose ends regarding the estate(s) of another. This may also be a time of surgery, especially to repair previous damage."

"Mercury retrograde in the 4th house:

This is the time to do major spring cleaning. Go through drawers, closets, filing cabinets, stacks of magazines and accumulated paperwork. Sort through, organize, and dispose as needed. This is also a time when you can anticipate mechanical problems in the home, so pay attention to anything that has a motor such as small appliances, plus of course, a computer if you have one at home. Pipes, tubes and wires are frequently the culprit when Mercury is retrograde so check all connecting devices to see if they are in need of repair.

If you want to put your house up on the market, this is the time to get it in tip top shape. Wait until after Mercury goes forward to officially announce that it is up for sale."

* * *
If anyone wants to see the effect of the House it's transversing, let me know which House and I'll post it.

I have heard that people who were born with mercury in retrograde manage to slink by without anything happening to them.

This is usually the truth for me, except with everyone else's life going haywire I still can't help it getting in my way.

When was the last time Mercury went retrograde? earlier in the year. I can't remember. I was thinking I could gauge the effects better retrospectively, my life was probably going too haywire at the time ha ha

Thanks for that link :-)
Wow. In the back of my mind I was thinking, I wonder if it was that exact time. Some very monumental and exciting things happened to me during the last retrograde, and they were positive too, well the outcomes were even if it felt dreadful at times. Everybody else around me though I had gone crazy! But I felt more in control and normal than in everyday life. I wonder what's gonna happen this time.

BTW I am gemini for those who didn't see my post last week!

Hello!
So Mercury is going retrogade again in few days... I remember this happened early this year...so I guess this happens several times a year, doesn't it?
Does this time have the same effects that it had early this year? I mean, problems with communication, transports, etc, etc.
Does it have a particular effect depending on what sign you have in Mercury? And on the house in which you have Mercury? For example, I have Mercury in the 1st house (28º59'16), in Pisces. And my love has Mercury in the 2nd house, in Sagittarius (25º03'47).
Thanks in advance!

"Mercury retrograde in the 7th house:

This is the time to pay attention to your partner, either in business or in a marriage or other personal relationship. Communication glitches are likely to arise between you and your partner(s) so be explicit in your communication with them and ask for clarification. This is also an excellent time to get feedback or input from experts in fields outside your own. Simply gather the information for now and start mulling it over but hold off until Mercury moves forward before coming up with a decision. If you are seeking out an attorney or other professional in whom you will need to place your confidence, now is the time to be looking for leads for such a person and for conducting an initial interview with them if logistics allow it to happen. This is the time to consider legal options, to sort through lingering issues or recurring themes with partners."

"Mercury retrograde in the 11th house:

Expect to hear from old buddies from the past and take the initiative to contact friends from your past whose names seem to crop up in your mind for no particular reason. Also, touch base with any organizations with which you have had past dealings. It may be time to think about becoming re-involved in that organization or some other group that is calling your name."

"Mercury retrograde in the 12th house:

This is the time to assume the position of "The Thinker." Allow time for meditation, contemplation and for simply giving your brain a bit of a rest. Allow the inner voice free reign, as your guardian angels and guides may be very communicative during this cycle. Mull over the results of past efforts and consider future game plans and strategies. Allow yourself to be the proverbial fly on the wall and listen carefully to conversations around you. If at all possible, keep your thoughts to yourself. It may be premature to reveal what you know or what you might be considering."

"Mercury retrograde in the 1st house:

You think you are speaking plain English but the rest of the world looks at you as though you are speaking Greek. Make every attempt to be as explicit as possible, leaving no room for confusion or misunderstanding. You're better off gathering information about new directions you are considering. Analyze and weigh these options but hold off until after Mercury moves forward to come to a final decision. Pay close attention to driving and guard against minor accidents to hands, fingers, arms and legs."

Dreamybecca -

Basically the same crazy stuff happens during each Mercury Retro, but try to concentrate on the positive. Some people put big plans on hold just because of a Retrograde transit, and I think that's ridiculous. It should be enough to be aware of it, and then adapt and adjust. Life is never perfect.

Check the link above for the 2004 schedule.

My understanding is that the Sign Mercury will be Retrograding in will determine who will be most affected. Mercury will be Retrograde in Mercury, so Virgo's and Gemini's will be most sensitive to it.

Then look at the House it will be transiting in your personal chart. THAT will be different for each person. The one for the 1st House is already posted here, and now for the 2nd:::

"Mercury retrograde in the 2nd house:

Pay close attention to your financial affairs. Unless unavoidable, hold off on major financial investments or expenditures until Mercury goes forward. Meanwhile, do your comparison window shopping.

Keep an eye on your wallet, credit cards and check book, and anything else that is or represents money. Carry with you only what you need, as this cycle is often found to occur when people lose their wallets, credit cards, etc.

Double check transactions made by anyone who also has a hand in your finances. Review bank statements, and if you have a joint checking account, be doubly sure that you know what the other person is doing with regard to the account."

ok ok, all this "DON'T FREAK" business is getting me a little freaked out. So what should I look forward, with my Gem Merc in the 10th? Hmmmm? Please don't say employment and financial problems - that's the last thing I need right now. And I'm job hunting at the moment.

"Mercury retrograde in the 10th house:

Communication glitches are likely to arise between you and your boss(es) or superior(s). Be explicit in your communication with them and ask for clarification when needed. Expect decision makers to be indecisive and to change decisions currently in the works or on the table, or simply expect them to be unavailable to you. If appropriate, beef up your resume. Focus on projects already in the works. Edit and fine tune them. Don't waste your time attempting to get new projects off the ground. If in sales, focus on existing accounts rather than attempting to open up new accounts. Also, call on accounts from your past which have been dormant."

Hi gloria,

Is the information you provided about mercury retrograde in the houses based on where your mercury is in your natal chart? I'm kinda confused because I'm just learning about the houses and all. Or is it based on where your mercury is now (the house) or will be when it is retrograde and if so, how do I find that information out?

thanks....anakhita

It would be your Natal House where Mercury is TRANSITING. Ignore your Natal Mercury placement for this part.
