Does anybody know where to find in-depth information about the houses? A book maybe, or, if possible, a site?

And what does the eleventh house indicate, besides friendships?

Sheesh, I must have been half asleep when I posted that last night.... sorry HSC.

The difference between Equal and Placidus Houses (someone please correct me if i am wrong here) is that Placidus Houses calculate the 10th house cusp as the exact point of Midheaven (and therefore the 4th opposite it), while Equal Houses, as the name suggests, simply start with the Ascendant and mark the next House cusp every 30 degrees.

As far as interpretational differences, I don't think there are any. Some planets will simply fall into one house in Placidus and another in Equal. It seems to be largely a matter of preference among astrologers. Some swear by one system and some by the other. Personally, I've always used the Equal House system (I'm a Libra; figures I would go for anything "equal", right? ), but this was an instinctive choice and I've never really tested one system against the other. Maybe someday, when I have the time...
