Hi all,

This is my first post. Who should I start studying after Linda? I have a mixture of books at the moment that I have been delving in and out of. Such authors as, Arroyo, Greene, Sasportas, Cunningham,& the Sextrology book by Starsky & Cox.

Also, is Liz Greene as good as she is made out to be??

Meet the moderator -

Once, I met this Aquarian who had a lot of Aquarius in his chart, and he was OBSESSED with astrology. He was willing to allow his personal interpretation to rule what he would do with his life. It was bad.

I've relied on browsing the bookstore, but I started with one of those older versions of "the greatest astrology" book series. And I really like the Cosmo each year. I like Sidney Omarr and Linda. There's specific books for specific things, but that's the general, and eventually, your intuition.

One of my favorite astrology books is Moon Signs by Sybil Leek. And it's just what the title says - it's about moon signs. Very accurate, and interesting.

Hi, Chester (and all )
Another good moon signs book is by Donna Cunningham... very indepth and moving. Her style of writing is intelligent, but simple... not the convoluted and "I'm so smart I can't talk normal" kind of writing that some astrologers tend toward.

Another great astrology writer is Steven Forrest. He and his wife Jodie wrote a book about synastry that opened up a whole new door of astrology for me. Skymates - Sharing the Sky I believe is the title. If you're a Linda junkie, you'll like this one because the writing style in simular in that they go into typical, hypothetical scenarios to demonstrate how various signs and planetary aspects reveal themselves in the ordinary dynamics of relationship.

Arroyo is often touted as one of the best on various astro sites, but I myself haven't read any of his work yet.

Thank you all for your welcome.

I have another question for you all. I am trying to learn how to integrate the sign, house, and planet together in someone's chart to be able to interpert how those three aspects come together. Im reading Cunningham "How to read your Astro Chart" She suggests getting Dr. Dobyns book on "alphabet" which helps you learn the shared qualities of equivalent planets, signs, and houses. That I don't believe will be too difficult to learn. But Im getting tripped up when all three are mixed & matched so to speak!
Anyone have any tips or suggestions or ways that have learned or are learning how to understand the planets & signs in the different houses?

P.S. I think there needs to be a 1-800-astrology-help line!

I just ordered two more books. One by Lois Sargent and another called Handbook for the Humanistic Astrologer. Anyone read these?

I'm also interested in the Eastern view of astrological compatibility. They match people together who are six months apart. So that they are opposite but also complentary to one another. What do u all think? I am a student in Marriage & family counseling and that is what is taught to us - that good marriages beyond other aspects are ones where the two partner's complement one another.

Interested in hearing your thoughts.

Yeah, I'm all for it - let's go back to arranged marriages. I'll be the courtesan. Go about your business.

Chester/Elizabeth, your language was a little confusing, could you be more clear about what you are asking? Maybe it's my Sag/1st house opp my Mercury in Gemini/7th house, but I am always asking for clarity, and definitions.

The Eastern view, meaning China? There are many different views outside of North America and Europe. I read quite a bit about the Chinese birth charts, and I understand Vedic astrology a bit. My Vedic chart has my Saturn in the 6th house instead of the 5th which would make more sense since I constantly feel burdened by a sense of duty, or service, much stronger than my Sun in the sixth would give.

I studied to be Nun, don't laugh everyone!
for a while due to my strong Mars, but my Vedic astrologer told me that would have been impossible. I agree now, my Western chart is not that clear. Sex and love are very black and white concepts in Western astrology, in the East, there are many shades of grey.

Hope this helps,

Natasha
Mercury/Gemini/7th
Pisces N.N./4th house
Cancer Moon/8th
Aries Venus/4th and 5th

Natasha -
I too have had this thing about becoming a nun my entire life. And still comes up. We've talked in that past thread about how ones Venus is the "everyday flirt" side of your love life, but Pluto is the "great seducer" who catches up with you in the end -

I have them both in Virgo in the 4th. So how many licks DOES it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?
